That Note Coffee shop looks so nice. Flora you should get you one of those Vietnamese dress. The traffic in Vietnam is so packed. Flora and Note I'm glad you both made it across the street safe. I'm looking forward to the next video.
Good morning, Flora and Note. As I previously mentioned, TH-cam recently suggested your channel to me because I follow slow travelers, some of which have explored Southeast Asia this past year. I quickly jumped back to the future, to the beginning of your vlogging journey. Binge watching through the Covid lock down was something I, like millions of others, also did with other channels like "Kara and Nate" and "Sailing La Vagabonde". You no doubt have hundreds of favorable comments over the past nearly four years, and I can easily add to them. I will highly recommend your channel whenever I can. Today I paused to write to you after watching your first Hanoi, Vietnam episode. I hope more people can see your older videos to live vicariously through you. I understand you were trapped in Koh Samui due to the pandemic. And there too you directly aided the community. The two of you have done a great service for tourism in the southern Thailand region with your explorations. Might I suggest you develop a longer, recap video(s) utilizing footage from those episodes that would put your channel and that region back in front of the eyes on TH-cam and their algorithms. As for me, my interests are travel, sailing - which I have never done, and food/cooking shows. But you won't see me eating bugs, strapped to a flying fan, or climbing a rickety old ladder to a tree house. I'd rather parachute out of a plane knowing the pain will last only an instant. I'm building up my knowledge base and courage to retire in my early sixties and slow travel while I can still move. My children are around your age. Wouldn't be terrific if I could reverse the story and, like Note's dad did, come explore S.E. Asia with my adult kids. Here's another episode suggestion: As there are many like me who would have liked to have seen Note's dad in front of the camera to get his perspective on his visit, maybe you can do a video chat episode about his recollections on his visit. Just a thought. Alright, enough from me. Back to Vietnam or wherever you are now. Mike
For egg coffee, you should go to the original coffee shop named “ Giang” . This place made the first egg coffee in 1948. Ask the locals how to get there. Just ask “ Ca phê Giang”, They will show you. You have to walk into an alley to find it. It’s up two levels of the place.
haha if you drink Vietnamese americano, you need to add a lot of sugar as our coffee is really much bitter and stronger than Thai coffee 😂 I would recommend you guys try "Vietnamese coffee & condensed milk" or "Egg Coffee" if you are in Hanoi - these are 2 most popular authentic types of Vietnamese coffee in Vietnam.
The coffe bean we use in Vietnam was Arabica or Robusta. So is easy to understand that the coffe we usually to drink was stronger than americano. But by the hand of some good bartender, the coffe won't be bitter but the price is the taste will be more stronger..
Hello! I went to Vietnam in 1998-ish. Had not figured out the currency/ notes yet when I took a motorcycle taxi in Hanoi. Agreed on the price: 15000 dong. At the destination, I started to give the driver bills. I intended to give him 3 notes of 5000. I gave him one 50000, one more 50000 and was about to give him the last one. But he stopped me. He said it's enough, thank you and drove off. I was thinking he had quoted me a too high fare in the first place, and he was being honest 🙂. Half an hour later I realized my bummer... So instead of him getting 15000 he got 100000. 🤣🤣🤣 Hope he treated his whole family to a very fancy dinner🤑 Have a great day 🖖
13:34 local Vietnamese here, I have no idea about making noise while eating tradition or they just made it up. Vietnam doesn't have any specific rule while eating but the common sense. Anyway, hope you can enjoy your time being in Vietnam.
After watching A LOT.. and I do mean A LOT of vids on Vietnam from many vloger my wife and I get good vibes from you two in the way you describe your travels to the hotels you stay at. I see in Hanoi you stayed in the Old Quarter at a lovely hotel but we have decided to stay around the West Lake area as its a fair bit less hectic. ( Not so much BEEP...BEEPING!!!! ). And its only 15 mins. from Old Quarter. Thanks again for helping so many of your viewers understand how Vietnam works !!. Max. Australia. 👌👌👌👌👍👍👍
Note- please try the Bac Xiu coffee. It's a specialty of VN and I'm sure you will love it! I just got back from VN a few days ago and already miss it. Great video and much love from 🇺🇸
We loved the video you guys! Zae's favourite coffee was the coconut coffee as well. The Bun Cha looked very delicious and it looks like you guys had a great time in Vietnam.
My wife is from Saigon and she is traveling to Hanoi. She entered this Coffe shop and on it wrote: I want to love a guy in Hanoi or in the North, then she left a personal page. Now we have a daughter. Haha. Lol :))
Love your videos guys, I watched five in a row! I have to rectify what the waitress at the Bun Cha Ta said to you about making slurp sound. Actually it's also impolite to make slurp sound and talking while eating in our traditional culture, however nowadays people just don't judge much about it, but it's never a Vietnamese way to express that you are enjoying the foods 😊
A tip for the two of you, next time you come to Vietnam, you should look for a cafe owned by locals. Because Coffee Cong, Cafe Aha,... are chain systems, it's industrial, so the cafe serves the majority, so it's not delicious. The cafes on Hang Ca Street are a good suggestion for you two to refer to.
I'm at Hanoi right now for 2 days, do you have any recommendations where we can get good coffee at cafes owned by locals? I really want to try the coconut coffee!
We actually do really enjoy the coconut coffee at Cong Caphe. It's delicious! But a local cafe we enjoy in Hanoi is called Tranquil Coffee. Give it a try :)
Loved it guys enjoying the new videos from Vietnam I have never been but looks awesome. Looking forward to the next vid guys . Stay safe my friends 🙏🙏🙏✌️
09:41 As a Hanoian, I feel it is quite safe to hold a camera on the street, of course not absolute, but it is completely the opposite in Saigon, be careful about this if you come to Saigon!
@Nhạc Sống Dân Quê, I'm also Vietnamese and I've travelled across the country of Vietnam a few times. I totally disagree with the comment from here. I've seen some thieves in front of my eyes that they rode motorbikes stealing things like purses, phones, cameras and so on in some cities like Hanoi, Da Nang, HCMC, etc. It might be that the thief wasn't there while they were filming at that time so do not make negative comments when you don't know much about the other city issue.
@@TraVelGuyEverywhere i also live in both Hanoi and HCM but to be fair u will need to be extra careful when u in HCM bcs thieves in here are more active and bold, at least with my observation in Hanoi gotta say it rarely heard of foreigner got rob on the street at daylight but in HCM it like weekly event. Extra care for your property probably not hurt anyone.
wow so different from 28 years ago lol! Traffic is just as chaotic but 28 years ago it was Bicycles instead of motorcycles! But I see the people are still friendly! Yes the traditional dress is beautiful. Great video 🙂🙏
Thanks for loving Vietnam yes Vietnamese food is one of the healthier if not the healthiest food to eat with all the veggie on the side. Korean food is too I believe with all that side dish and grilling. I love Thai food but it can be heavy due to all the coconut paste (my favorite) they added.
Speaking of Korea, the young people in Hanoi seem to love K-Pop culture. So many dance competitions around Hoan Kiem Lake on the weekends. Everyone is having so much fun, it’s awesome to see!
So happy to see you two there! We were there a few years ago. So much fun, we can see you are enjoying every minute of your adventure. Thanks for take us there! Can’t wait for your next video.🎉🎉👏👏👍👍
@@FloraandNote the first dish you two had was also the first food we tasted in Hanoi. But I do think Flora should walk a bit slower when crossing the street. It your first time there you will get to know the custom soon. Luckily my wife is a Vietnamese so she and her friends guided me around Vietnam. Enjoy, it will be a very exciting stay for you two. I got excited just by watching your video. Fantastic couple to be with!👍👍🥰🥰
Flora, I think you will look great in one of those ao dai. I think they are so pretty and it makes me happy to see the girls wearing it around. If you go to Hoi An, you can get one custom made (2Passports 1Dream got clothes made there).
I just discovered your channel and love it. I am going to watch all your videos start with day one. I am also a Cantonese born in vietnam currently living in California.
You passed the test of walking across the street ! yayyyy! Congrats! I said a prayer for ya . :) Thanks for capturing Ha Noi. Excited to move back to this country soon!!!
We watched all your videos before our trip to Vietnam and enjoyed learning from you guys! We just got back and have been posting vlogs on our channel:) The traffic in Hanoi was intense with lots of honking but no one was mad.
So many herbs to try in Vietnam! There's also this one called fish mint... not that it's fishy but it's commonly served with fish dishes, also soo good!
@@FloraandNote Shisho is what's used in Japanese food and is green. The variety used in Vietnam is called purple perilla. Also, fish mint is a very controversial herb. I tried it decades ago and never tried it since. 😂
Try a night street foods at "Kinh Moi" is a corner shop opposite a Chinese Temple. Nice Pho, friend noodle-/rice and many more local foods. It was safe eat at roadside or street in Hanoi. Hanoi people were friendly and you may seat with them to join their night drink along the street. One more dish recommend is Pan Fish Noodle. Beside the Iconic CHurch had many Coffee and Ice cream must try... enjoying seating small stood.
If you like street food, I would recommend you Phở Tíu bà phương in Hanoi old quarter area Been there many times as I was visiting Hanoi 2 years ago. Really good noodles
omg, watching you guys review Bun Cha - one of my favourite foods makes me happy as well. Enjoy your time in Hanoi 🥰 i live in Hanoi too and i eat bun cha every weekend 😄
I Was Really Hoping You Would Do A First Day Impressions. Note lets Lets Go & Flora Is Holding On Tight. Did You Hear The News Note Has His Own Coffee Shop In Hanoi?? I Laughed. Christine & Karl Went there (( Other TH-camrs )) Stuck There Note On The Top Floor On A Closed Window. Great To See Both Of Your Names. Congrats On Crossing The St Flora. Just Wait For The Very Lg & Very Busy Streets. Host Was So Nice & Helpful In My Option. Dinner Looks So Yummy. Fantastic From Start To Finish. Lining Up For Gas From The Bloopers.
Hiya Flora and Note, the traffic is scary. ☺The Note cafe. Is so cool. Lovely video. The food looked delicious. I love how she showed you how to prepare. A lovely experience. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful week. 🤗
If you're from Thailand and had been to other large Southeast Asian cities like Singapore, KL, Manila, etc. then I think you'll enjoy Hanoi more than HCMC because of Hanoi's unique architectural styles and lakes and alleyways. I'm not disparaging HCMC but it's more like those other large SE Asian large cities, quite Western in many ways so as a traveler, it may not be as unique. As for the food, it's good all over the country and at great price if you can take on street food and outskirts of tourist areas. I know I miss riding scooters in VN a great deal and I think you'll find it an exhilarating experience as well BUT having said that, you still need to be very careful of trucks and buses. They're maniacs. When in doubt, just ride slowly and the passenger behind can help by waving your left or right hand to signal you're planning to turn, and turn slowly. Take care guys and I look forward to your upcoming videos about VN.
Hanoi is divided into 2 parts. The Downtown area is home to low-rise buildings and historic tourist attractions. If you go to the west 10km, it is the area of financial towers, 30, 40-storey apartment buildings or headquarters of large corporations.

Stfu saigon is more dangerous, accept it jeez
@@TraVelGuyEverywhere i also live in both Hanoi and HCM but to be fair u will need to be extra careful when u in HCM bcs thieves in here are more active and bold, at least with my observation in Hanoi gotta say it rarely heard of foreigner got rob on the street at daylight but in HCM it like weekly event. Extra care for your property probably not hurt anyone.
@@LeThanhLiem68 không bạn ơi đang nói về cướp giật thôi, chứ tai nạn giao thông thì cả hai 'kẻ tám lạng người nửa cân' thôi.
People do steal cameras in Hanoi, but from what I've seen only at night.
Thanks
Thank you Rajesh :)
So cute! A note from Note to Note.
wow so different from 28 years ago lol! Traffic is just as chaotic but 28 years ago it was Bicycles instead of motorcycles!
But I see the people are still friendly!
Yes the traditional dress is beautiful.
Great video 🙂🙏
The air would have been much cleaner then 😅
Thanks for loving Vietnam yes Vietnamese food is one of the healthier if not the healthiest food to eat with all the veggie on the side.
I can't wait to travel back to Vietnam and enjoy the food. I really love your videos. Great job!!
Thank you Kenny. Glad you enjoyed it 😊
So happy to see you two there!

Fantastic couple to be with!👍👍🥰🥰
I like your interaction between your two.and nice video.enjoy your journey.
Thanks so much!
Flora, I think you will look great in one of those ao dai. I think they are so pretty and it makes me happy to see the girls wearing it around. If you go to Hoi An, you can get one custom made (2Passports 1Dream got clothes made there).

Yes, lots to do here! 😁💕
My full respect that you have the courage to drive motorbike in VN 😉
😂😂😂 craziest thing ever but also fun!
shiso leaves has a unique floral scent to it
One of my fav
The other one is cilantro
So many herbs to try in Vietnam! There's also this one called fish mint... not that it's fishy but it's commonly served with fish dishes, also soo good!
@@FloraandNote u should do a video talking about the exotic herbs/food found in Vietnam
It is definitely fishy!! 😭
Thanks for all the recommendations Domny!
If you like street food, I would recommend you Phở Tíu bà phương in Hanoi old quarter area
Been there many times as I was visiting Hanoi 2 years ago. Really good noodles
Ooo thanks for the recommendation. We'll have to check it out!
Wow ! I So excited 😅
Welcome you come to Vietnam🥰🥰

I liked the way that you all said: 1 2 3 dzo, mean one two three cheer
Omg so exciting for both of you in HA Noi , enjoy, be careful for your phone & pick pocket in VM
Your coconut coffee look yummy, I love to try it next time I’ll be there…
They are addictive! I've had about 6 already haha
Love the drink with coconut at Cộng Cafe! The decor is unique, also. Thanks for sharing!
Ive tried a few other places now but Cong Ca Phe still makes the best coconut coffee :)
Hiya Flora and Note, the traffic is scary. ☺The Note cafe. Is so cool. Lovely video. The food looked delicious. I love how she showed you how to prepare. A lovely experience. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful week. 🤗

Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks guys for sharing the video 👍🏼👍🏼 beautiful 😍
They dont use coin here in Vn, just polymer cash, and card at certain places
