Lobster buffet should worth at least USD70/person, plus lunch buffet, breakfast, boat trip, night squid fiahing, kayaking & other activities with a balcony room. This package deserves to be higher than USD400/2 people.
December 2019 we went on a same size but newer cruise ship name "President Cruise" with less thant 30 guests on board. It was a wonderful cruise but unfortunately It ceased the operations when Covid happened. We paid about $500+ per couple including transportation pickup from our hotel in the old quarter Hanoi. The food was delicious. We had cooking lesson, tai chi and few excursions.We had the same similar size room, bathroom and big balcony. Probably the "President Cruise" is now renamed "The Ambassador Cruise". The cruise staffs advice us to avoid visiting Halong Bay in the summer when kids are off school. The bay are packed with local tourists like ants.

I with my wife to Halong Bay in 2019. It was a 4-star cruise and we decided to do a 2 night-3day cruise and we were so happy to do the extra day. The weather was amazing and very few people on board making the cruise one of the highlights on our trip to Vietnam. Love your channel.
I must mentioned again that your drone shots are just superb,thoroughly enjoyed your whole adventure but i agreed its a bit expensive and too many people around. The coffee on the balcony was a perfect ending for the cruise.Thanks Guys!
Tasmanian Seafood Seduction Cruise is AUD700/person for 7.5hours. Bruny Island Cruise is AUD175/person for 3 hours. Both are neither World Heritage nor New 7 Wonders of Nature. Therefore, the deal I think is worth AUD2000/person.

I spend 2 nights and 3 days on a smaller cruise with only 25 passengers and my experience was awesome! There was a visit to a local fishing community and a Pearl farm location and we sailed deep into the Bay on a small boat with only 5 passengers and that is what I wanted to see !! The food on the cruise was great and the staff was very friendly and always eager to help!!! Bigger is not better!!

I went to Vietnam a few years ago and did a day cruise at Ha Long Bay. I saw the limestone caves, went on a small boat to see the rock formations up-close. It was neat and good to see especially since this place is a world heritage site. Will I do it again? Maybe not.

The Indochina Junk company does smaller tours and they look very intimate and nice, especially if you do the longer cruises. They take you away from the crowds and have their own private beach...I think Shev and Dev did this cruise. Also check out the videos from "Shot in the Dark Travel" as they've been having an amazing time in Vietnam, including a great Ha Long Bay cruise.

I'm doing Ha Long and Lan Ha on a 3D/2N cruise at the end of this month. While I'm looking forward to it, one of the reasons I'd like to visit Lan Ha is because Ha Long's overcrowded. I also booked on a boat with a maximum capacity of 50 that takes off on Sunday and returns on Tuesday, hopefully avoiding those weekend crowds. Anyway, enjoyed your vid immensely and will be watching in the future!

Excellent review! You guys are MADE for this! Anyway, your "upgrade that wasn't." Lived in Hawaii for three years and saw several massive cruise ships pop in and out dumping 5,000 or so passengers off for a few hours. Doesn't interest me at all! However, a nice river or bay cruise on a small ship would suit me fine. SO, pursuant, booked on a 3-day/2-night 50 passenger max smaller ship for Ha Long and Lan Ha, end of October. Your comment regarding elevators was poignant, by the way! I'd also enjoy a Mekong river cruise, but they are WAY out of my travel budget! Thanks again for your candor!
Sooooo crowded for a cruise trip thats worth 400eu per night for 2 people. However, the buffet lobster is so delicious and that alone would probably costs 150eu for 2. To be honest with you, i am very uncomfortable when it comes to crowd. I saw another couple on youtube who experienced such a nice, quiet cruise in Halong Bay and that cruise seemed to be mostly booked by western tourists who are in my opinion less noisy than Vietnamese xD.

If you think couple of hundreds people on a cruise ship are crouded then you should try one of the Royal Caribbean cruises. The number is in the thousands.

That is a beautiful ship, but yeah, way too busy for what I prefer as I like quiet and tranquility for a place like that. All the people and noise would have ruined it for me (the one cruise I went on in my life was not a party ship and I loved it!). You should have booked the same cruise as 1Passports 1Dream...that cruise line looked incredible! But the all-you-can-eat-lobster does look amazing!
Adding to a previous Comment made before I took the trip: At 11:25, your video shows the problem with Ha Long and Lan Ha Bays. It's severely overcrowded! On the first night we anchored, we were surrounded by 17 other craft. Next night? 18. Further, all boats do the same activities at the same time every day, so one can't escape crowds if they participate. I was on a 3D/2N excursion on a small 50-passenger vessel, and was completely underwhelmed. First, this isn't really a cruise. The boat only moves after they've taken on new passengers or just before sending others back to port. I'd estimate we were actually underway for less than 30 minutes for the entire three-day trip. Secondly, as mentioned before, all boats do the same activities at the same time. I skipped the second day's events as I had no desire to battle crowds again. In short, Ha Long/Lan Ha, or just Ha Long as Lan Ha's identical and also overcrowded, is a good day trip and nothing else. For those who are interested. I spent $590 for single accommodation and if my significant other would've accompanied me, it would've been $770. Hardly "value for money!" I am returning to Vietnam in early February, working my way up the east coast from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang/Hoi An, then on to Hanoi. Needless to say, I'll be skipping another visit to Ha Long Bay!
I've seen some that take the longer cruises whom have a better experience. They take you away from the crowds and have their own beach (check out Indochina Junk...the boats have an older look if you're into that, especially when they put up the sails). Also, don't go on weekends, holidays, or when school is out if you want to really avoid the crowds. Check out "Shot in the Dark Travel" as they've shown some amazing experiences throughout Vietnam, including Ha Long Bay. Friends of this couple, "2Passports 1Dream" had a beautiful room as have others I've seen.
You can do day trips on the Ambassador too - depart early morning and return late afternoon. Much cheaper, and lunch is included. For the overnight cruise, and out of convenience most guests are paying for a land-side hotel AND paying for the room on the boat at the same time.
Many luxury hotels with Ha Long Bay View Rooms charge more than USD100/ night easily but lobster buffet is not included, even their restaurants have such.
@@yesbeautyfly I did a day trip on the Ambassador recently. About $100 CAD, including buffet lunch (sorry - no lobster!), the buffet was decent. I stayed on land. There are more dining choices on land in Ha Long, at all price ranges and qualities. The hotel where I stayed was nice and only about $90 CAD, up on the 20th floor and with a view of the Bay.

But on the overnighter on the boat, what's there to do on the boat once the sun sets (and it set very early for me because I went there in early December 2023. At least on land, besides having a wide choice of dining options, can also take in other activities such as checking out the coffee shop scene, getting a nice foot massage, etc.
@@msbrownbeast 2023 Feb I had done multiple lobster buffets in some hotels at Ho Chi Minh City and whole snake meals, they are not cheap. Therefore, USD400/2 people sounds appealing to me.
Considering it came with all you can eat lobster buffet, it's actually quite cheap 👍 The crowded beach area is both a pain and a blessing. A pain for the ones visiting but a blessing for those living of tourists. Overall looked like a nice trip, and the balcony was a nice little place to chill. Cheers.

Thanks for the informative video. If you are going to the Hué area we can recommend Mr Trung Nguyen's DMZ tour. Its a private tour of the Vietnam / American war places of interest. This was one of our highlights in Vietnam. Mr Trung is a retired South Vietnamese army officer. He provides you with a first hand look at the history that defined Vietnam. We just did the ha Long Bay cruise a little over a week ago with Orchid. Had the best time until the drinkers started coming back to their rooms at 2am haha didn't get much sleep before the 7am kayak that's for sure!
Great point.The ship looks great but it is also part of the problem when tourism gets on steriods. When I did a cruise it was on what was once the standard junk style boat. It had only 14 passengers and was very intimate and fun group from around the world. Food was not as fancy, but extremely good. Like you said bigger isn't always better.
That's also a Ha Long Bay problem. It's simply become overcrowded. I prefer Lan Ha Bay, but haven't been able to find a dedicated Lan Ha Bay cruise, so, will be taking one that features LH as well as HL.
I did a 2 night/3 day cruise on a slightly more modest boat, it was fantastic but you guys are correct, it's a very popular destination in Vietnam....I hope you two enjoyed it anyways👌🏻

Not sure if I missed on how many nights the cruise was. If it’s one night then it’s a bit high priced. For two nights then it’s not bad. We went on a mid size boat. Food was decent but no lobster. The ride from Hanoi to Ha Long was crazy though. Two lane road became three lanes on some occasions.
Good vlog again I couldn't help but laugh at Flora I could tell you weren't that impressed I thought you would do a similar cruise to 2 passports 1 dream. Lobster looked yum.
I think you've made a good choice for bigger cruise. The room is huge and comfy, the food was great. I will definitely go for this cruiseship, just avoid the weekend that's all. It's cleaner and better than small cruise.
On a positive Note: You would not have had the best dinner of your life had you chosen to stay with the other cruise. Maybe it wasn't a mistake but a learning experience. In the end, you did have an amazing time. 🤗

It was VERY different energy with all those people. Happy for locals yet wanting best of both worlds, in privacy at moments. I myself am adjusting, because I’m not into going where everybody goes, unless I can get there early before the crowds. But then, IM OLD LMAO so I’m up not young sleeping in coz I partied too hard lol. Dried jellyfish is so good. My favourite food when I was small.
The lobsters are quite small so I think it is easy to eat 20 pieces plus a few dozens of oysters.

Excellent review! You guys are MADE for this! Anyway, your "upgrade that wasn't." Lived in Hawaii for three years and saw several massive cruise ships pop in and out dumping 5,000 or so passengers off for a few hours. Doesn't interest me at all! However, a nice river or bay cruise on a small ship would suit me fine. SO, pursuant, booked on a 3-day/2-night 50 passenger max smaller ship for Ha Long and Lan Ha, end of October. Your comment regarding elevators was poignant, by the way! I'd also enjoy a Mekong river cruise, but they are WAY out of my travel budget! Thanks again for your candor!
Sooooo crowded for a cruise trip thats worth 400eu per night for 2 people. However, the buffet lobster is so delicious and that alone would probably costs 150eu for 2. To be honest with you, i am very uncomfortable when it comes to crowd. I saw another couple on youtube who experienced such a nice, quiet cruise in Halong Bay and that cruise seemed to be mostly booked by western tourists who are in my opinion less noisy than Vietnamese xD.

That is a beautiful ship, but yeah, way too busy for what I prefer as I like quiet and tranquility for a place like that. All the people and noise would have ruined it for me (the one cruise I went on in my life was not a party ship and I loved it!). You should have booked the same cruise as 1Passports 1Dream...that cruise line looked incredible! But the all-you-can-eat-lobster does look amazing!
Adding to a previous Comment made before I took the trip:
At 11:25, your video shows the problem with Ha Long and Lan Ha Bays. It's severely overcrowded! On the first night we anchored, we were surrounded by 17 other craft. Next night? 18. Further, all boats do the same activities at the same time every day, so one can't escape crowds if they participate. I was on a 3D/2N excursion on a small 50-passenger vessel, and was completely underwhelmed. First, this isn't really a cruise. The boat only moves after they've taken on new passengers or just before sending others back to port. I'd estimate we were actually underway for less than 30 minutes for the entire three-day trip. Secondly, as mentioned before, all boats do the same activities at the same time. I skipped the second day's events as I had no desire to battle crowds again. In short, Ha Long/Lan Ha, or just Ha Long as Lan Ha's identical and also overcrowded, is a good day trip and nothing else. For those who are interested. I spent $590 for single accommodation and if my significant other would've accompanied me, it would've been $770. Hardly "value for money!"
I am returning to Vietnam in early February, working my way up the east coast from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang/Hoi An, then on to Hanoi. Needless to say, I'll be skipping another visit to Ha Long Bay!
I've seen some that take the longer cruises whom have a better experience. They take you away from the crowds and have their own beach (check out Indochina Junk...the boats have an older look if you're into that, especially when they put up the sails). Also, don't go on weekends, holidays, or when school is out if you want to really avoid the crowds. Check out "Shot in the Dark Travel" as they've shown some amazing experiences throughout Vietnam, including Ha Long Bay. Friends of this couple, "2Passports 1Dream" had a beautiful room as have others I've seen.

You can do day trips on the Ambassador too - depart early morning and return late afternoon. Much cheaper, and lunch is included. For the overnight cruise, and out of convenience most guests are paying for a land-side hotel AND paying for the room on the boat at the same time.
Many luxury hotels with Ha Long Bay View Rooms charge more than USD100/ night easily but lobster buffet is not included, even their restaurants have such.
@@yesbeautyfly I did a day trip on the Ambassador recently. About $100 CAD, including buffet lunch (sorry - no lobster!), the buffet was decent. I stayed on land. There are more dining choices on land in Ha Long, at all price ranges and qualities. The hotel where I stayed was nice and only about $90 CAD, up on the 20th floor and with a view of the Bay.
Then eventually the price maybe the same or more, with lobster buffet & a floating room with balcony right inside Ha Long Bay.

But on the overnighter on the boat, what's there to do on the boat once the sun sets (and it set very early for me because I went there in early December 2023. At least on land, besides having a wide choice of dining options, can also take in other activities such as checking out the coffee shop scene, getting a nice foot massage, etc.

I had done multiple lobster buffets in some hotels at Ho Chi Minh City and whole snake meals, they are not cheap. Therefore, USD400/2 people sounds appealing to me.

Considering it came with all you can eat lobster buffet, it's actually quite cheap 👍 The crowded beach area is both a pain and a blessing. A pain for the ones visiting but a blessing for those living of tourists. Overall looked like a nice trip, and the balcony was a nice little place to chill. Cheers.

Thanks for the informative video. If you are going to the Hué area we can recommend Mr Trung Nguyen's DMZ tour. Its a private tour of the Vietnam / American war places of interest. This was one of our highlights in Vietnam. Mr Trung is a retired South Vietnamese army officer. He provides you with a first hand look at the history that defined Vietnam. We just did the ha Long Bay cruise a little over a week ago with Orchid. Had the best time until the drinkers started coming back to their rooms at 2am haha didn't get much sleep before the 7am kayak that's for sure!

Great point.The ship looks great but it is also part of the problem when tourism gets on steriods. When I did a cruise it was on what was once the standard junk style boat. It had only 14 passengers and was very intimate and fun group from around the world. Food was not as fancy, but extremely good. Like you said bigger isn't always better.
That's what I did too. Much better and fraction of the price. Stopped at a cave, floating village, fish farm and went kayaking.
That's also a Ha Long Bay problem. It's simply become overcrowded. I prefer Lan Ha Bay, but haven't been able to find a dedicated Lan Ha Bay cruise, so, will be taking one that features LH as well as HL.
I did a 2 night/3 day cruise on a slightly more modest boat, it was fantastic but you guys are correct, it's a very popular destination in Vietnam....I hope you two enjoyed it anyways👌🏻

Not sure if I missed on how many nights the cruise was. If it’s one night then it’s a bit high priced. For two nights then it’s not bad.
We went on a mid size boat. Food was decent but no lobster. The ride from Hanoi to Ha Long was crazy though. Two lane road became three lanes on some occasions.
We were only on it for 1 night. We enjoyed it but as we mentioned, we would have preferred a smaller boat.
Good vlog again I couldn't help but laugh at Flora I could tell you weren't that impressed I thought you would do a similar cruise to 2 passports 1 dream. Lobster looked yum.

I think you've made a good choice for bigger cruise. The room is huge and comfy, the food was great. I will definitely go for this cruiseship, just avoid the weekend that's all.

I paid $120 a pop for a 3* cruise for 1 night back in 2013. We didn't have lobster or steak and the room was nowhere as nice as yours.
On a positive Note: You would not have had the best dinner of your life had you chosen to stay with the other cruise. Maybe it wasn't a mistake but a learning experience. In the end, you did have an amazing time. 🤗

Lol us viewers got a little spoiled by you with your usual drone footage 1) and 2) can you explain AT SOME POINT why an upgrade could be not worth it? It was VERY different energy with all those people. Happy for locals yet wanting best of both worlds, in privacy at moments.
