Hoyt RX 7 Ultra Long-Term Review

- Just a year after introducing a new binary cam system and an in-line Picatinny sight mount, Hoyt Archery unveiled a brand new riser design for 2022 on the carbon RX-7 Ultra they sent me for testing.
And this year I finally learned why there was never an RX-2 or RX-5 in Hoyt’s lineup. It seems when they introduce a new riser, they skip a number. Thank you to long-time Hoyt pro Kevin Wilkey for that tidbit. FYI - Kevin was partially responsible for putting a bow in my hands for the first time, so if you don’t like this channel…blame him.
The Hoyt RX-7 Ultra has an axle-to-axle length of 34 inches, a brace height of 7 inches, and a rated speed of 334 feet per second.
Speaking of the Picatinny sight mount, that has also changed on the RX-7. Last year you had to do some minor surgery to the bow if you wanted to use that mount. This year it is built right into the riser, which makes life much easier. It still comes with standard sight mount holes for those who don’t want to upgrade to the Picatinny system, but I’m absolutely loving this new HHA Tetra Max sight.
Just bought this, I shot so many bows this one sold me, it was just awesome. Felt like i couldn’t miss the 10 ring just great i am ecstatic
I love my rx5 ultra and I like the fact that if you didn't have the Picatinny sight you would have the extra bracket visible.

Very interest in the release using attached to a wrist strap.
Lefty here. Looking at the RX7 ultra and the Phase 4 33 both fully loaded for the same price. I don’t have a place to shoot them side by side. Any recommendation?
If the price is the same, I’m going with the RX7 Ultra. It’s are great, but getting a carbon flagship for the same price as an alloy flagship is a no brainer for me.
Probably won’t get an answer,but was wondering,at 29 in draw is the ultra faster than the 30in ata rx7?
I e never tested them together, but the shorter RX7 should be faster than the RX7 Ultra at every draw length.
I have been watching your reviews. I’m curious what release you are using ? It looks a hinge with a wrist strap.
That one is a bit of an oddity. It is the Ringer release aid from No Limit Archery. I believe that brand is no longer around, but the releases was pretty interesting. You fire it with a button that sits under your ring finger. You can shoot it with or without the wrist strap. I bought that one used off the archerytalk classifieds many years ago.
what is a smoother draw ,, this bow or the Mathews v 3x 33 ??? please get back to me
I haven’t shot the V3X 33. I shot the shorter version. I’d say the Hoyt is an easier drawing bow. But the Mathews should be pretty solid.
Hey archery talk, I’m trying to buy this bow for my dad but I don’t know annything about bows. Can you recommend some accessories and some arrows? No budget, thank you.
If you aren’t concerned about budget, this is what I’d look at. Start with a great arrow rest - the Hamskea Trinity Hunter is my personal favorite. Grab a Hamskea Raptor peep sight while you are at it. For a sight, you have lots of excellent options from great brands, but the one I like best is the Black Gold Pro (three-pin). For arrows, the best ones I’ve shot are the Gold Tip AirStrike. I don’t want to recommend a specific arrow spine, as I don’t know his draw length or his draw weight. As for a stabilizer, I just use the short one that comes with this bow, but any 10- or 12-inch stabilizer with a few ounces of weight he can play with will work. Good luck.

Používám k tomu Google Translate, takže prosím omluvte případné chyby. RX-7 Ultra je lovecký luk, ale určitě se dá použít i pro střelbu na terč. Je to skvělý všestranný luk.

Jak já říkám jsem úplný začátečník s nějakou malou zkušeností,ale prvně musím trefit ti desítku na určitou vzdálenost a pak teprve až můžu zkoušet lovit. RX7 Ultra Carbon or the Matthews V3?
I'd definitely take the RX7 Ultra over the 27-inch V3. But the longer one is an interesting comparison. Giving the price disparity, I'd probably lean towards the Mathews.
This bow is untuneable... Even replacing shims doesn't make it better
NONSENSE, IT MAY TAKE SOME TIME BUT IT IS DEFINITELY TUNABLE!
@@christopherblessing3868 try it but please try proper tuning with bareshaft. Even with extreme shimming you can't get it tuned...
