    Super cool diving watch. Unlike many Rolexes your not gonna sit next to someone at a dinner party with the same watch ! And good value for money.

    Such a stunner! I've been looking forward to this episode for quite some time, as the Polaris, quite simply, is my favourite watch of all time.
    Sadly, it is quite a bit out of my price range, so I went for a Longines Legend Diver, to somewhat scratch that super compressor itch... but it's just not quite the same.

    It is a beautiful and fun watch because it sings which I find unique. The 50 ieme anniversaire which you have is a modern interpretation of the 1968 Memovox Polaris. JLC issued the Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1965 and 1968 in 2008. I bought the 1968 tribute which is an absolute beauty. Some years later, JLC offered wrote to me with an offer to buy the Deep Sea but I could not as I was overseas...

    Beautiful watch, I see they do a version with a sunburst blue fading into black at the perimeter of the dial, that's my favourite. It reminds me of the Seiko Bell-matic I used to have which was also a stunner but you couldn't get it wet.

    Thorough review, thank you! I ordered the green dial version.

    It’s a well known fact that JLC not only made movements for Patek Phillipe, but VC & AP too. I believe- could be wrong, JLC provided the movements for Cartier Tanks early on, for a period of about 11 years.
    Having provided so many iconic brands with movements, this is why they are referred to as “The Watchmaker’s Watchmaker.
    Great watch.

    Another stunner, Damian, and the story is the cherry on the cake. Definitely + 1 for the Alain Silberstein regulator video.

    Even though the Reverso was one of the first real sports watches (for Polo players?) they look better on ladies’ wrists. I have tried them on a few times and although I love them it was my wife who bagged one. Hers had to go back to the factory for repair when she had an incident on a Swiss Rodelbahn! For me that Memovox is much cooler than any Rolex diver, but the market says I am in the minority.

    I went to Wempe last week to purchase my very first JLC, a stainless Reverso, large small seconds.. had it on the table, tried it on and wore it for quite a while as I chatted with my Wempe assistant who happens to be a friend.. in the end I just wasn’t connecting and as excited as I hoped to be buying my first Reverso, ended up ordering a Rolex and leaving, but I still feel like one day I’m going to have to eventually get that Reverso...

  • @LeadDispenser
    @LeadDispenser 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I passed on this watch because the seconds had lacked a luminous marker. JLC solved this with the Mariner. I believe they will expend the Polaris line and hopefully add an orange dial...not likely, however.

    I’m the same with the reverso, tried a few on, determined to buy, but always walk out without one.

    Aw such a perfect watch, simple but useful. There’s the time and the date, and if you need an alarm/“timed” stop watch there you go. Unfortunately my wrist (I feel) isn’t big enough. Envy courses though me, but great purchase!
    How do you know when to stop winding the alarm, and what happens if you over wind it?

    • @TheWatchGuysTV
      @TheWatchGuysTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It feels heavy when it's fully wound, just like the watch. So when you feel resistance, stop winding. I'm not sure it would end well if you kept winding.

    • @edmundchiang
      @edmundchiang ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had it for a while and my wrist is 16cm. The shorter lug-to-lug distance makes it sits well on my wrist

    The faithful recreation of the 68 Polaris was in 2008 complete with its plastic crystal.

    Why this watch sounds better than new one?

  • @alectang1614
    @alectang1614 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video. I wouldn't say this model is a reissue as it's more of a modern interpretation of the Polaris 68. The real reissue model is the "Tribute to Polaris" that is 99% accurate to the original. Still a lovely piece though.
    It seems like you enjoy the old/reissue types, so I would totally recommend you check out the Reverso Tribute to 1931. That seems to be the Reverso for you. 👍🏼
