    Why is no one else talking about these releases? You're doing a great service to the watch community. Thank you.

      I don't know why peple don't give these more attention (apart from the fact that Rolex/Royal Oak/RM/Nautilus videos will get more views) but for me the fun of this hobby is discovering & learning more about different brands & models so I'm always going to be on he lookout for new finds to highlight or new releases that perhaps not everyone's talking about. Thanks for the support, as always much appreciated :)

    • @ShahLusso

      And the best part is that despite being an alarm with 300M water resistance, it still has a display case back so you can see the alarm in action!

      Me too...I just put a down payment on one that will be available in January. I've purchased from the dealer in the past and asked for a 15% discount. We settled on $9,500 plus tax. I can't wait to see it.

    ** Correction **
    8:13 The movement section for the JLC has the wrong data - it should read as follows:
    Calibre 899 AB (Manufacture Calibre)
    - 70 Hour Power Reserve
    - Automatic
    - Date
    - Master Control 1000 Hours
    You can view the correct movement info at 5:39 or see the complete graphic comparing the JLC Polaris Mariner Date with the Rolex Submariner 126610LN on my Instagram: @shahlusso

    I like the Mariner date better than the Submariner date , I also think JLC design is spot on which has links to the past but in a modern package (true evolution) . The orange Mark in the crown is to indicate that the bezel could be accidentally turned (not really Water resistance indicator as per asking) . This and the sea q are on top of my list and you are right saying this does not look like your typical diver , thats why im leaning towards the Mariner.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree, I like the direction this is taking the collection and I'm 100% there with you on including the SeaQ at the top of your list next to it, both are great watches that really stand out next to the typical diver designs we're used to seeing these days

    It looks beautiful and I am seriously looking into it as a future purchase. I've read some early complaints after its initial launch that the lume on the minute hand isn't long lasting which limits the watch as an actual diving instrument. Does anyone know if this is still a problem two years later?

    I loved your video. Great new issue. One of the few that makes me reconsider the sub purchase!! I would love to Know how JLCs 1000 claim holds up in terms of warrantee claims. do watch repairman love or hate them? How often do they see them often?
    The design is spot on. Very JLC in design. Almost Lange Odysseus like in terms of brand DNA with its own unique profile. Great content as always!!

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting question about whether watch repairmen love them or hate them, but if their warranty is anything to go by they're pretty solid movements. JLC was one of (if not the) first to offer 8 year warranties on their new watches so I'd say from a company end it shows how much they put their money where their mouth is.
      They describe the 1000 hours control as covering "chronometric, power reserve, temperature change resistance, waterproofing and everyday vibration criteria" so I'd say its a safe assumption that problems relating to that would be covered by the warranty.

    Entertaining video. Happen to agree with virtually all your opinions on this one.
    Thanks for another video that’s not about one of the same, old three of four watch brands that you tubers fixate on.
    1. Both are great looking watches and unique. To me the are vintage-INSPIRED not a tired reissue. This isn’t old stock. This is clearly of the the moment.
    2. 100% agree that the Mariner is superior to the :Submariner. Like you said, more or less, the JLC has a more unique, fun, more interesting design.
    3. Compared the the four you showed the JLC again stands out. All opinion, but I favor it over the others and it’s a JLC-so the quality is there as well.
    4. Where we differ - and this is Symantecs - is that Rolex is stuck in the past. They don’t reimagine their watches, they tweak them.
    The Date just is 95% the same as it was 40 years ago when my grandfather had one and it looked grandpa then. These days, to my eye, it looks and feels ancient. No shiny Jewelry-Like finish is going to mask the staleness of the design left untouched since the 50’s.
    (I know I’m in the minority and that’s fine. We alll have different tastes so like what you like).

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! As always I try my best to shine the light on brands that aren't all over TH-cam so when the opportunity comes up for some JLC news i've got to jump on it :)

    I love the look of the Mariner collection and having a Master Compressor Chrono II wanted to add a Mariner to my collection BUT there have been issues arising from my research. Firstly, why would a watch at this price point not have screwed links in the bracelet with a proper dive extension? Secondly, it has surfaced the orange lume on the seconds hand after 3 minutes with extensive charge is non existent. An important feature on any true diving tool watch especially at this price and the credentials associated to these watches. Comments from an owner on another review channel covering these models (Watch Advisor) has created a buzz regarding the lume deficiency and JLC have been contacted and to this entry has not been resolved. I will wait on this one before pulling out the credit card. There may be less out in the wild due to what is surfacing since the release.

    That Mariner Date may be my next big one. I always feel like it *should* be a JLC ... and something always seems to edge it out. But this, this could be the one.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's a beautiful watch, especially with that gradient dial

  • @macoyupadoodle
    @macoyupadoodle 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really like the Mariner date (might be my next watch) but I do not understand why JLC seems to fall short when making a good watch. My problems with this watch are 1) why only 1 screw down crown why stop there (would having 2 thin the case a bit?) , 2) Clasp seems too fine and lacks adjustment (but it still a pass for me) , 3) not using screws for the bracelet links. I'm just saying this as cheaper watches tend to do more. But this watch is aesthetically beautiful and best of all ....... different.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree there are definitely a few points where they could have perhaps executed it better - especially in terms of thickness I 100% agree - there are plenty of other 300M divers that manage sub 13.5mm (Submariner, Calibre de Cartier diver, Gen II Seamaster Professional to name a few) and something like a JLC you'd expect to have that more streamlined elegance. Some allowance can be made for having the sapphire caseback though.
      As for the braclet clasp - it does have two adjustments on either side, similar to having 2x Rolex easylinks. True it's not like the Glidelock or Omega & Glasshutte SeaQ push-adjust systems, but I think as far as doing small adjustments for expansion/contraction due to temperature change that should be fine.
      Lastly for the pins, no idea why they didn't opt for screws - maybe they wanted to be more like Patek Philippe (which for reasons beyond my comprehension also uses pins on the post 2012 Nautilus bracelet?) It could be though that they're spring bar pins not old school pin/sleeves, it's not clear on the website or though any hands on reviews i've seen, but I know that on some earlier models they had a spring bar system for the individual bracelet links. This made them easier to remove & more sophisticated vs regular pin sleeves but not as thick as screws - but I can't confirm yet whether that's the system they're using on this bracelet.
      Hopefully that gives some context to some of your concerns, because it is a killer looking watch, especially with that dial 🔥🔥🔥

    • @macoyupadoodle
      @macoyupadoodle 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShahLusso thanks Sir for your input as we do seem have the same concerns but in reality these are just niggles that could be forgiven really.
      My main concern is movement robustness , and that 8 year warranty . I wanted to ask if you have any experience or long term experience with JLC and its movement robustness. And about that 8 year warranty , does not having the watch serviced every 2 years (which JLC recommends) void this warranty? I'm asking because I have this " if it ain't broke don't fix it " attitude .
      Sorry for asking as I do not have any experience with JLC but always wanted one . Almost got one before but ended up getting a Glashutte Original instead , maybe this time it's time for me to get a JLC
