Should give it its 1st cut or wait it’s knitted together but not really knitted if you know what I mean ! I can lift it a bit but not a great deal! Hi Robbie
I did my front lawn according ( as best I could) to your excellent instructions. I had removed the stumps of two trees so there was a bit of serious damage which I then repaired with turf from elsewhere in the garden. The turf was a bit Raghu round the edges so I filled in with some old soil I had stored next to the compost heap. ( what could go wrong?)
Anyway, it’s now October and I have just dug out my second crop of ugly brown toadstools. There are loads of them.
I have holes all over my lawn, but before I fill with sterilised soil this time, what do you suggest please?
We love your videos and invaluable advice.
    Thanks Robbie
Ps the back lawn is now amazing!!

Hi thanks for the video, could you help me with my question? I've have a new lawn grown from seed with some patches that have grown well and others that have minimal growth, the parts that have done well are ready for the first cut (70cm) with patches that have not moved on from new shoots. Do I make the first cut on the areas that are ready and try to avoid the patches (and or overseed the patches) or do I wait until I have more established grass on those areas?

I followed the steps. Made one mistake! Threw seeds down after a cut and then used the fork to put holes in the grass 🤦🏽‍♂️. Tried not to go to deep. Hopefully it will be ok. I wanted to ask, when would you recommend doing the next cut after over seeding? I did the first cut when it was approximately 90-100mm taking a third off. Reseeded and can see some of that starting to germinate, but I noticed the cut grass is growing rapidly, and I don’t want to disturb the new seed. Should I just “let it go” I mean grow? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’ve come too far to mess it up now!

You often talk about when you aerate it gives the seeds a hole to fall into

Hey Robbie. You mentioned there that one of the few things you did for last 6 weeks was taking leaves off the grass. I'm just getting germination but the lawn is getting covered in falling leaves! I'm doing my best to take them off but just wondering what your approach is to that. It obviously means having to walk on the seedlings - I can't get to the leaves otherwise - and no matter which of the next 3 options I pick they all involve stepping on the area.
I then have a choice of picking by hand (tiring but lawn is only circa 90 square metres I suppose) or rake them (worried this will damage seedlings and/or move seed) or use blower on low setting (again worried about damage and moving seed).
Any insight into what you guys do? And thanks as always!

I wouldn’t have even worried about those bare patches. Come spring with more heat and cutting they’d have filled in perfectly well. I doubt it’s warm enough now for any germination so possibly just wasting seed. But lawn will definitely be great come next summer. Reel mower needed for then 😜

Yes probably right. It's been colder too this year and that doesn't help either

The American TH-camrs talk about using a pre-emergent in the spring. Is that something you would recommend for Northern Ireland lawns and if so can you recommend any products? Ask I can see are expensive professional products for football pitches and gold courses

Nice video Rob but I was hoping you were going to cover dealing with different height grass when overseeing. existing lawns - the original grass is very long v new seedlings. Do you let the original grass run while the seedlings grow or if you keep the grass in check will it damage the seedlings?

    • @Premier_lawns_official
      @Premier_lawns_official  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I would always recommend leaving the lawn for a few weeks after a lawn renovation (in most cases) and then once you do start to cut the lawn , cut the lawn as high as the lawn mower will go and then bring it down slowly

Robbie doesn’t the seed just fall down the holes? How does it germinate better please?

3 weeks since I overseed My lawn and the amount of worm cast is shocking! Any advice? Will it harm anything ? I’m worried that I got everything nice and flat and it looks like a bombs gone off underground !

I like your videos. Most informative. But I do find it disconcerting when you attack the camera and cover it up after every scene. It's a bit like a film star being harassed by the paparazzi.

Hi Robbie, I found this video via Google, which took me to your website. Unfortunately, when running the TH-cam video from the website, it only ran up to where you were just about to tell us about cutting. I kept getting an error message. However, when I copied the URL and ran the video directly on TH-cam, everything was fine. Also, when attempting to run from your website, I couldn't like, subscribe, or leave a comment. Suggest you provide the URL th-cam.com/video/UQ_kADOC_ws/w-d-xo.html on your website, to avoid these issues and get more likes and subscribers. I've now subscribed on TH-cam.
Loved the video, Robbie, especially the captions. But, you missed the single most important piece of information. You told us to cut when the grass reaches 60-70mm, but no caption to say what height to trim it to! (50mm was closest I could guess?). Please confirm
    Thanks, Rick

Hey Rick, thanks for the feedback. Yes I think those settings need updating 🙂
First cut is an important one, really you just want to take the top off it. 50 mm would be a good height for the first cut 👍🙂
Welcome to the channel, we also have a private but friendly group on Facebook called the premier lawns community
      Look is up 🙂
