These "small" things are the reason why you don't even wanna build a house and just take from the gallery. Because things build up and you're like screw this
I usually take a house I like from the gallery, install it unfurnished, then decorate it how I want and add or change things with my thousands of BB CC.
Also the basements always have weird geometry in the stairway hole, and on the matter of basements its kind of insane that we cant use the foundation-raise tool to raise basements to be partially above ground like the majority of real american/canadian ones? I want to place basement windows and have natural light without carving holes in the earth
Same for bars, they should have matching counters. Speaking of matching stuff, literally all wooden objects, walls, floors that don't have matching wood colours.
Yeah it was really appreciated that they went back and added for wood swatches for base game items but it's really frustrating how every single expansion pack has wood tones that don't pair w other build items. The Parenting pack is especially horrible for this. Some of the nicer windows but the swatches don't match anything else in the game. Also they haven't gone back to update curtains or wallpaper colors, and roofs need SUBSTANTIALLY more colors too
There's a workaround for diagonal stairs, but you have to have a diagonal platform side at the bottom and at the top of the stairs, or at least that's what I saw in a tutorial, never really needed it in my game, so I never actually tried it myself.
I hate that "all" walls have to be the same height, even if the walls are not connected to each other. I all ways have to fight with it and find a work around to build a shed next door that is a different wall height.
I hate how the gallery doesn't work properly. For example; your looking for a house built only using certain packs. You can try to use the search function to show builds that only have those packs but it's pointless cause it will still show you random builds that are using all the packs. It will never show you want you want. I wish they would fix the gallery so it works properly but I'm not holding my breath on that. I don't believe for a moment that EA will ever fix things so they will actually work correctly cause it's too much work for them.
Yeah the only thing that works semi properly is Base Game only. If you try to filter for only packs you have it is litterally pointless. I really hate this when you are searching for houses and community buildings made with just a specific pack. Like I was trying to find a restaurant to pop down in Sulani which has a very specific vibe. But couldn’t really get results that only use base game and island living and maybe one or two packs I associate with the vibe.
@@anastasiasuxIf so that is just stupid and really makes no sense at all. Why bother having the feature in the search if it's gonna be broken from day 1 with no plans to ever fix it so it just ticks people off?
I hate that we can't decorate rooms with multiple packs because NOTHING FUCKING MATCHES!!!! THE SWATCHES ARE ALL DIFFERENT SHADES, EVEN IF THEY'RE IN THE SAME COLOR GROUP! "OH YOU WANT BLUE COUNTERS FROM THE COUNTRY LIVING STUFF AND THE COOL KITCHEN STUFF???? WELL TOO BAD BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE BOTH BLUE ONE OF THEM IS SLIGHTLY GREEN AS WELL SO THEY'LL NEVER MATCH!!!"
You know what *really* infuriates me about the colors? That packs like Realm of magic has specific colors AND THEY DON'T F***ing MATCH EITHER!!! The Magic windows in the stained glass have at LEAST 2 colors THAT DON'T MATCH in color/pattern between all windows. Just LOOK at IT!!!! That red rose and yellow swatch that looks like beauty and the beast is one of them. Drives me INSANE. AND the furniture.. like the double bed with the glass ceiling DON'T MATCH the WINDOWS either!!!
@@corabeani I FUCKING KNOW RIGHT?!?! I used to go in and self-mod all the furniture and stuff. I'd recolor all the objects to make them match. But there is just SO much to do that I gave up. I'm not a professional modder, or even an intermediate modder. Hell, I'm barely a beginner. So it takes me FOREVER to recolor just a couple objects, and I don't have the patience to keep going. It fucking sucks!
That drives me up the wall! I hate it. I don’t know how or why they Sims Team keeps doing this. Tbh, every expansion pack should come with entire sets for each room. Not a mix-and-match.
it boils my piss that we can't use wall paint on foundations/platforms. We could in other Sims games, but not 4. In Australian, 90% (maybe more) our foundations are the same colour as the rest of our house. It looks so American to have the two tone and I hate it with a passion
So, a new issue that I became aware of last time I played the game is that items seem to have very simple metadata attached to them, and that means the more packs you have, the more useless those “room” menus in buy mode are. An example: I was looking for stuff to decorate my kitchen with. You’d think it would all be things like recipe books and spice racks, right? Well apparently I need a tuktuk in my kitchen, or all the movie sets from get famous. This is the bare minimum of metadata, kitchen decor should be tagged as “kitchen” and should be the only things in the “miscellaneous decorations” tab you click on in the kitchen buy menu. Another instance was that I was decorating a kid’s room and looking again for decorations and coming up with the kitchen utensil cups. Like. No I don’t think these belong in a child’s bedroom actually, so why are they here? Obviously adding more metadata than just an accurate room tag would help make the search bar actually function as something better than a “put the item name verbatim” bar, (I cannot tell you how many times I have lost the damn umbrella stand because it has a weird name) but even this has left me in such a state. This is why if I’m looking for an object I have to filter by pack, because that’s the only filter that actually WORKS.
Yeah, they really haven’t done much to make a better sorting system since base game despite all the objects added by TEN YEARS of DLC. ‘Decorations’ is just a dumping ground at this point. Some non-functional kitchen stuff is even in ‘sculptures’ when I look for sculpture I want sculptures no a menu for a restaurant. And I HATE looking for posters and wall art as you have to go through a ton of scrolling with wall cracks and wall stickers and things that aren’t framed art. It also doen’t help they gave things cutsy names for years so some stuff instead of being called like something something kettle (talking about a decor one) it be call something dumb like wibbly wobbly water feeder. Not a real thing, cause don’t feel like looking a real example up. But instead of using an obvious name in at least the title of the object that would be useful and searchable, they wanna be all cute and ‘sims funny’ in item names and descriptions.
Tbf, previous sims games used funny wacky names for their objects as well. 1 and 2 (dunno bout 3) even didn't have a search bar. But, there was way fewer stuff, and metadata actually made searching per room effective. So it worked for those games, but now it's just one big mess
@@ciciciciciclala Yeah, silly sims object names have always been a thing, but when I can scroll all the objects easily and tell what they are, it's less of an issue. I think non-functional clutter and little aesthetic pieces is the biggest problem. They modeled previous sims games in most of their catergories, but this is where they shouldn't have. They didn't account and haven't accounted for how many tiny objects needed (and still need) at the very least a sub-catergory under decorations. Like I'll make a cafe and struggle to find all the cafe decor and clutter I know exist because its all just all over the place and has a stupid name.
In the gallery searching for builds that have only specific packs that you have If you check "only packs that I own" It shows everything anyway so you need to go for basegame unless you have over half of the packs
THIS! I don't own that many packs so trying to find a build I would be able to put down is pain because the pack search doesn't work and will still show buildings with packs I do not own or just accept and place it anyways and then try to figure out what the game deleted from the build so they can be replaced with something else manually.
That «only packs that I own» mean «Show if that thing use at least one item from packs that I own» instead of «DON'T use anything from packs that I don't own».
@@zerada00 NOT just for builds. Just download individual Sims or families from the gallery and try to filter to only get Sims that only use stuff that you have. You may get totally naked Sims, without mosaic blurring, just because all of their clothing are from packs that you don't have, but, one of the Sims from that family do wear that bracelet from a pack that you have.
the weird thing about the floor tiles, is that you CAN delete them one by one when they're outside lmao 😭 just redo the whole room system please. i hate the stair railings too, but I REALLY hate how the whole house breaks when you try to make an open view by the stairs. you have to do a whole bunch of extra steps to make deleting a part of the floor work and not have the roof break in 😭😭😭
Don't forget you can't have windows near stairs too because the railings will show through the windows, that's why I never put my stairs to the side, they are facing outwards.
the huge gates thing has always annoyed me bc i have never seen a back garden gate that big before in my life. maybe its just bc im british but most back garden gates ive ever seen are the size of a standard door. i dont doubt that houses with these kind of gates exist but its certainly not a part of my reality. i barely even built front gardens when i build so the gates have no use to me there either
Same. I have a backgate double wide but it was a purpose choice to allow a motorcycle through, the gate before was just a standard door and most of my neighbours don't even have space for anything else.
@@CorgiCookies yeah, for american settings (which this game is clearly designed for) i think theyre great! i love using them for larger houses and mansions. but sometimes i wanna build houses that look like where I live, and where I live is a row of terraced houses amongst a sea of other terraced houses, very few with an actual back garden. I myself only have a small concrete yard. I try to accurately reflect this ingame, but EA does not make it easy LOL. I wish they'd remember that a large portion of their audience exists outside of north america :/
My pet peeve: The lack of doors for fences and none match each other 😅 Edit: Also the fact that the posts get put wherever and you have no control over them
@@Sweetsurey like how hard is it to add matching wood swatches to EVERYTHING?? It’s just a texture… I made CC for The Sims before it’s not as difficult to add a texture so I know they can do it…
@@ChromaloxTTV And this is why color wheels are useful EA! So much of the color match problem could have been solved by Sims 4 keeping the color wheel.
my gripe this week is “half walls deleting paint/wallpaper after nearby changes”, like if I change a wall next to it or create a room inside of a half wall, it deletes all of the paint. Totally annoying
The achievements. For a few, it's OK to to have them per save. BUT, most should be global. Receiving the played 5 hours achievement for the 20th time gets very repetitive. Why can't we have diagonal stairs ? Circular walls need circular stairs that follows them. In CaS... We have propagating hairs. Give your Sim's first every days outfit some hairs, ALL outfits now have it. Have the accessories and makeup behave the same. Medical equipment must NOT be in accessory, but have it's own global category, just like body hairs, tattoos, skin details and scars.
@@zerada00 Should have a drop list of the available tags. Most objects DO have tags. If you play on PC, you can get the Sims4 studio. It allow you to see and edit pretty much all items of the game, even those for packs that you don't own. There are a LOT of tags that you can see and set.
@@KualinarBut you can’t easily search for them and while I have used sims 4 studio and use it for little things, especially fixing CC that has even worse labels than EA, once I am in-game I just want a search that works properly.
Hate it when you build a house with a foundation and then you place a door but to get to the door you need to place two steps and the game won´t allow it
The foundations look shit in this game, esp that thick border at the top and how the main base is wider than the walls (you can see this problem in the video thumbnail). Sims 2 and 3 looks better because foundations line up with the walls like it does in real life. In fact, looking at any real American suburban house with siding and a brick or cement foundation, the siding is what goes out slightly further than the foundation, opposite of how it is in Sims 4. No stupid border thing either.
I hate how you can't extend columns up into roofs. This seems like a small thing, but having a column on a corner of a wall but the corner of the roof can't can really ruin a room
The stair railings and fences drive me nuts. And the lack of matching gates for fences! Did they just randomly pick gates from catalogs without asking themselves if it MATCHES anything in game?
I HATE when you go in first person view and you can see the sky from the first floor of the stairs if you have a second floor. Like why? I have a ceiling. Lol
@@Bubblegaze I wasnt sure because I had not noticed and was going to check next time i play sims. I just recently discovered 1st person view like couple weeks ago lol so I really didnt know.
I also hate the catalogue... Like... why are the hanging towels or the toilet paper roll not in the wall decorations? Why have a wall decoration section when it's not properly used? That makes searching for stuff so annoying.
2:06 I have a workaround for this. You have to make two separate staircases and then shove them together. I only did it once on one of my builds, though.
You should make a video about all the features EA has introduced, then subsequently abandoned/ignored. Aside from the stuff mentioned here, you have have pack refreshes, scenarios, wants/fears, missing likes/dislikes, gameplay kits, trait refreshes, more Lifestyles after Snowy Escape, and achievements.
Yes, I like this idea! It will hopefully bring more attention to the frustrations of the players & they will stop doing trivial bs. Or atleast start finishing their projects full out.
fences without ANY kind of matching gate. Island living is the one that comes to mind as I just made a matching custom content one after being irritated about it for the last time.
Another thing that's annoying is that you can't paint the ceiling to match the walls, it always has to be a floor pattern, since when have you seen a ceiling matching the floor instead of the walls in real life, they should've copied the wall colors to floor tiles so our ceilings can match the walls, they finally let us have ceilings and they don't even let us match them with the walls.
Adding friezes to literally anything at this point is a hassle… it only connects to completed rooms so you have to like make a room below the roof with platforms basically and even then sometimes it won’t work… especially if there’s an upper deck patio they don’t attach…
this is mostly an issue w older eps but like why did they give us every single stage prop from get famous and 10 different versions of a cell in get to work, but won’t give us realistic clutter in eps… like we have to buy a separate kit for actual clutter. i use a load of cc for decorating my builds, so the lack of clutter doesn’t bother me as much, but it confuses me when I see items like a $3000 pillar from spa day that i’ve never once used, but ea can’t include like a nice basket in their packs
i hate that they don’t just have a set color palette for wood tones that they use for every pack. it pisses me off when i find a table i like but it doesn’t come in a matching wood tone to the other furniture pieces i’m using.
Fences that don’t place on the end of the lot, that you have to leave one tile every time before the end of the lot to put your fence. It’s one of the thing that annoys me a lot.
What makes me go crazy everytime I build a house is when I make a small platform for the front door and can't find marching flooring for the stairs I used. Like if I used white stairs I never find the matching white wooden flooring. I makes me mad that now there are two different shades of white at the entrance.
I hate how when you’re using platforms on the second level, there’s usually an issue with the lighting of the ceiling tiles on the first floor. Ceiling painting is even more of an issue when using round walls. I also have issue with repainting a wall and then objects disappearing or removing my friezes or trim on the exterior.
The friezes are a nightmare too! Back when I build a castle, it clipped inside of some rooms, it was such a fun-killer. (also had a little stage platform and some diagonal walls in that same room... 🥴) It took me 2 hours to fix the frieze and all the glitches that showed up because of the fixing! 😆
@@MissisChannel That decorative band/trim you put around the wall close to a ceiling or what google says: a broad horizontal band of sculpted or painted decoration, especially on a wall near the ceiling. The castle kit has one. 🙂
Buildmode was probably created by people who were underpaid and enduring crunch and left the company 7 years ago. That would be my guess for why this was like this, and why it hasnt improved at all.
My biggest peeve is how hard it’s to find certain objects, even with the search bar. Like I still don’t know where to find the TH-camr computer or the drone. I’ve had the pack for years, and I still cannot find everything. It’s so frustrating.
@@hesterwright3674I hate when I know the object exist but I can’t remember what dumb silly name EA gave it besides like towel or soap. Sometime if I can remember the pack, I filter by pack.
I had not noticed that. I have noticed when some outside plants don't appear unless your zoomed in that is annoying. WHAT is the point to decor the yard when you can get pictures of it unless your zoomed in then when your zoomed in you cant see but small portion of what your zoomed in on.
First i wanna say I'm not a builder in the sims i spend 90% of my time in CAS but I was building a cozy cabin restaurant on an impulse when i was struggling with foundations. I somehow managed to lower my dining area yet put a foundation under the whole thing. So the bathroom doors, kitchen archways, and entry were higher than my dining room floor. Not realizing it at the time i spent the next 4 hrs decorating just to see half my decor outside disappear after raising the floor. 4 hrs of searching for wall plants, lanterns, and flower boxes placing them exactly the way i wanted looking oh so cute and cozy just to lift my floor and watch half of my decorating get sold right in front of me. After half an hr of venting and digging what little enjoyment i could find inside of me i finished it. Idk how i put a foundation on my building yet lower half of it into the ground but i dont think I'll b using foundations again even tho a house looks so much better with it this was all while not using any cheats and on console
Remember the doors having free placement was an update, I want to say six years in? They just didn't take it all the way and do gates as well. They are the kings of going only so far and not quite enough. I will say that is a frustrating thing in all of the sims games. I want to say platforms was a pack update for Snowy Escape, so it was a pack system, and we all know once a pack system is in place it is then ignored completely. Except the club system from Get Together, someone in there likes that one and still update it but all the rest are completely forgotten once implemented.
I love this game so much but there is just so much little issues that are SO infuriating. Like for example in the gallery, when you chose an item to download, and you have to come back to the gallery, the search goes back to zero and you have to reapply every single filters (that by the way don't work properly). Or, the fact that you can't have diagonal stairs, move the columns freely, that we can't have fences on the last tile of the lot and many other little things.... PLEASE ADD A DEBUG CATALOG FOR CONSOLE PLAYERS THANK YOU EA
i hate how many walls don't have matching foundations or platforms. every time I build something on a foundation it's like, well shit, now there are only a handful of exterior walls I can actually use. I end up having to use the same boring walls all the time or no foundations at all.
the room system is god awful and is i believe the source of so many problems with building in the sims 4. no split levels, no attics, kludgy basements, the way you can't sink houses down in the terrain correctly anymore (for example, if you wanted exterior windows on a basement/beneath-ground-floor level or just a house built into/around a hill). curved walls and rooms are also such a joke because they're just remodeled angled walls, you can tell because of the gaps certain rounded configurations will create in floors and ceilings, it feels like a hacky solution a modder would cobble together in a weekend, to say nothing of how little else in the game supports curved walls despite being in the game for 2 years now. also we got curved rooms and curved platforms, but you can't attach stairs. the way columns behave or don't behave on certain corners and wall heights. no diagonal stairs (which is probably also why you can't attach stairs to curves) and you can't connect two differently facing stairs around a corner. no spiral stairs. there is so much wrong with the sims 4 and i get mad when people throw their hands up and say, "well this is just a game for builders". it's not that either, the process of doing anything more than basic boxes is absolutely infuriating. this is a game for nobody that thrives because there's no alternatives on the market.
When a curved foundation has another floor than the floor underneath it, the foudation floor bleeds into the floor underneath. Anything that is curved is soo broken, I use it as less as possible. But they will probably never fix it because why would they? They only care about money
TBH at this point I got used to all this things and they don't annoy me anymore. Except the thing that I can't find anything in bb. With debug objects it is even worse. It's just impossible to find items. Even when I know the exact name of the item, the game do make it show in green, but it scrolls to the wrong place and it's not possible to scroll to the correct one, with wanted item, because there are too much items and it never shows just its category, it shows you it with EVERY item, so there is no way to lower their number when searching.
there are soooo many bugs in build mode aside from little small things though, simmer erin made a whole video about all the unaddressed build mode errors. Basements also get lots of glitches when trying to put stairs down through foundation into them, both lighting glitches where certain lights just wont light up the basement and an ugly empty void in the foundation "hole" Also i hate how when looking up through a floor window on the first floor from a basement, or through a pool with windows in the basement level, you can't see the stuff that is above, it looks so ugly Also why can i place pools in the basement but not fountains? And agree stairs and fencing in this game is just shit, in sims 2 if you want the fence to extend it extends, if you want the railing to "stop" tile per tile, you just have to place individual parts. In sims 4 it just does what it wants and looks awful. Don't get me started on curved walls i don't even use them if i need to make something round i make hexagons. The roof in sims 4 is also so dumb, like they should have an autoroof button for when the shape is complicated it isn't always easy to roof things with these set pieces they have. Not being able to rail one side of stairs and not the other, not being able to lengthen the roof flap on one side but not the other, etc bothers me that everything has to be symmetrical Another thing that i prefer way more in previous sims games is that i can place floating tiles as long as there is grid (on upper floors) in sims 4 i have to make a room for if i want platform, flooring that floats, decks or anything, and the pieces they have are too big and often delete a bunch of things to place them. Why not give us a "one tile platform" or "one tile floor piece" or just let us place tiles if there is grid in the air
My number one issue is having to change the makeup, jewelry, and body accessories (nail polish, or piercings) for EVERY OUTFIT. I want my sim to wear the SAME makeup and accessories for outfit 1 & 2. Or maybe I want Everyday and Summer to have the same makeup! I wish there was a button/option to lock it in so it doesn’t randomize. Its annoying to go through and find everything again especially if you have CC.
Tall fences without appropriate tall GATES to match... Inability to use a double door at top of a side-facing stair... Exterior walls STILL disappear after applying a platform...also this can create areas with no cieling as well, which requires "patching" with a flat square in build mode. "Conflicting wall heights" errors Aaaand everything you mentioned! Edit: And driveways that do not reach the sidewalk. Thank you for suffering with us, Satch!
My biggest grips are twofold... one is that we can tile the ceiling but not the roof if it has an overhang? Also would love to one day be able to see the ceiling (or next floor. think loft style homes for best example.) in live mode while focused on sim!!!
Yah, railings and fences drive me nuts. OMG The kitchen top and bottom cupboards hardly ever match either, it is so infuriating. Not the mention what a mess the searching feature is for items. The pics are too small.
You can put a split railing between stairs 4 squares wide or 2, just gotta put two different staircases 2 or 1 square wide side by side. And you can change their directions at the top, one can turn left, the other turning right or from the bottom where they merge into one staircase from two directions partway up. I do it in some of my builds.
I’ve been having the worst time with stairs, roofs, and fences(inside). The clipping is driving me insane. I basically have to choose between roofs clipping in or floating tiles that don’t make any sense. It does it with half walls too. It makes me SO MAD 😭
I also hate the first thing you showed with the sided stairs so much! 😅 and the railing thing. What I hate in the gallery: you just can‘t filter the builds for the packs you own, even though you can click on the different packs on the left. Gallery still shows builds that use all other packs 🙄🙄
Not being able to disable packs you don't own in the gallery so you can find builds with packs you do own. Diagonal walls. Nuff said Resize tool is a great idea, but a lot of items done resize properly
Some of my issues are: Fences that don't come with a matching gate, or gates that come without a matching fence. The size of the gates also infuriates me - why can't we have a tall, single-tiled fence. Also, why can't we have medium & tall single-tiled doors? Wall tiles without matching floor swatches, and vice versa. Like gates, columns also cannot be placed freely, as they clip to the grid. The fact we can't place stairs on diagonal platforms or foundations (and still we have no spiral staircases).
Omg yes to all of this. I recently started playing sims 2 again and thought I'd get massively frustrated playing without the sims 4 build mode features. But, it's actually quite alright? Sure it would be nice to easily extend rooms instead of rebuilding the whole house, but I still save time and frustration by not having to deal with ts4 build bugs anymore. Especially hated the curved walls/platforms in ts4. Because I kept wanting to try one more build with those features because the idea of rounded rooms is sooo nice! But nothing turns out looking good because of the glitchy mechanics.
Thanks for this video now i know why some things like the roof are happening and it has nothing to do with my lake of ability to build... the fences and foundations are really annoying too... omg i hate everything you said ... I dislike so much the diverent swatches where the item is suddenly something so different from the first picture and you have to remember what could be hidden somewhere or look for special colours
My issues are the roofs like what if I want to do a roof with a glass but in the middle, like you have to use at least 3 roof pieces and you can't have roof trips or it will clip and see through the glass roof, like the could of done it like how you can have different wall styles on one wall.
I hate how you have to change the lot type to Residential Rental before placing an apartment from the Gallery? How tedious! What if I don't wanna change the lot type? Well I have to jump through all sorts of hoops to change the lot type to Residential Rental so I can place the lot just to change it back to Residential.
What I don't understand is why the "foundation trim" and "platform trim" are separate things... it would be so much versatile and easier to use if the foundation trims worked for both.
Also I recalled when I decided to add a basement to a house that was almost fully done - you know the shock when you scroll up to first floor and what you see - deleted objects and destroyed landscape above the basement
When you got to the platforms…I literally burst out laughing!!!!! I hate that sooooo much, trying to put platforms in the house without using the “wall” trick deletes everything UGH
I would like to be able to find things more easily. I would like a category in buy mode for recommend items for teen bedrooms. Where I can find posters or any teen decor. I usually don't put up a lot of pictures in sims houses because I play with walls down. They get mirrors. I would like more horizontal mirrors. Also move mirrors around like I can with pictures and windows. I want that bathroom mirror up a little higher.
I wish I could like this video 1000 times. I’m trying to build a balcony right now and I needed to be reminded of the exact order to do each step so I don’t delete my roof 😭 I don’t understand why that happens. Basically everything relating to stairs is infuriating.
Sometimes the gallery just straight up doesn't work, I've clicked on people's profiles before and had nothing be in their catalogs but I know they have stuff because I just saw one of their uploads in the gallery's search menu and was able to download it, and click to view their profile page 💀
I just love these videos where Satch calls them out on the “little” things, because they absolutely do add up. I literally never use stair railings because I can’t believe there isn’t an option for just placing one?! Instead, all my multi-story houses look like death traps. But the absolute star of the shit show has to be pillars. WHY? Why do I have to place them on corners?? They literally don’t carry weight like in previous sims games so they could’ve just made them regular objects??
I don't really build I just furnish prebuilt houses then get a sim to upgrade the appliances. I do however have one major annoyance with the gallery. I hate you can't get rid of builds with packs you don't have. I stopped clicking the button for packs I own cause they don't give a damn. And I do agree with the move objects thing. I want to turn off the majority of notifications
Even through we can free move windows and doors I always align them to the grid, is easier to keep them look symetric and not look off with paneling wall paper. I use the grid with objects all the time too, my brain still stuck in sims 2 lol.
Roofs and ceilings. Roofs never turn out pretty, no matter what I do. The trimmings suck, they look boxy and unrealistic, the bottom is always gray (except when using mods). And ceilings, I still don't know whether there are ceilings 😂 I have a vague memory I once clicked an accidental short cut and got to see the ceiling. And there seems to be an ambiguous section in the floors section that might refer to ceilings.
I completely agree on these points you have made! I also very often don’t even use stair railings because of the way they clip and set. I only want a stair railing down One side of a stairway and I Do want to put a center railing and they don’t give us that realistic option! Gads! What would we do if they actually Listened to We the Customers….. what kind of fairytale world do these people act Live in!
I really feel like in previous games (namely vague memories of sims 2 and 3 from a couple months ago … and I don’t build much). if there was a wall on the other side of the stairs, railings just didn’t appear there.
For a lot of people it's that you can't place doors or even door arches or doorless door frames at the top of stairs, they always have to have a tile between the top of the stairs and the door, even with move objects on it doesn't work, I had to change the layout of a whole 3rd floor, cause the house I had based my build on had a door at the top of the stairs in real life, I don't understand why it can't be a thing in Sims 4, other house building simulations and games lets you do it, so why can't the Sims also, it just doesn't make sense.
Yes to all these sims issues. They expect us to pay for these games, but they don't bother to make sure they work properly. EA has been great, but it feels like they've lost the passion for making these games, as though they don't care anymore and they're just trying to get wrangle money from people. I look forward to the new life simulation games, like Paralives. They all look amazing, and at least they're putting in the time to make sure they work properly lol.
You can do a staircase with the railing in the middle of you place the stairs and railings, then copy it! You can then place it right nest to the existing stairs and you will have a middle railing and a functional staircase!
OMGurd yes! The not being named anything close to what they are issues is a pain. I despise it so much that when I search something like cork board, it brings up 2 actual cork boards (not bringing up the others because they are named random shit) and then shows other random stuff that have board in the title like (stack of board games for example). If you're going to use a title keyword system NAME THE STUFF WHAT IT IS!!!
10:27 in regards to the 2 wide catalog: i think this might be a hot key for pc players? i discovered it long after installing better build buy though so idk if it's part of that mod or not, but the key between escape and tab (on my computer that's `~) expands the catalog to take up about half the screen. it's not adjustable so it's not really conducive to build with it expanded but it does make scrolling debug a lot faster. also worth noting that i dont have the expandable build buy mod satch mentions so i know it's not that
I thought it was only meee who is frustrated by these issues 😅 and I’ve put it down cause I am not good at building lots in sims 4. i feel soo seen and heard and validated 👏🏻 I hate when the roof clips!! And round rooms infuriates the hell out of me that I don’t use them anymore.
These "small" things are the reason why you don't even wanna build a house and just take from the gallery. Because things build up and you're like screw this
I usually take a house I like from the gallery, install it unfurnished, then decorate it how I want and add or change things with my thousands of BB CC.
Us still not having diagonal stairs, and the fact not every fence has a matching gate, and not every counter has a matching cupboard
Also the basements always have weird geometry in the stairway hole, and on the matter of basements its kind of insane that we cant use the foundation-raise tool to raise basements to be partially above ground like the majority of real american/canadian ones? I want to place basement windows and have natural light without carving holes in the earth
Top cabinets yea should have matching bottom cabinet counter for every one. I noticed this too.
I HATEEEEEEE that you cant extend columns through tall walls..............
Yes, that also.
I hate that AND you can’t freely place columns.
The stairs on foundation trims also ANGERS ME TO THE POINT OF ME RETHINKING MY CHOICE OF GAME😔.
Like the sims wont walk on those stairs of its on a raised platform... like why. Why even allow me to place stairs on it then...
There is always Sims 1, Sims 2, and Sims 3...
The NOTCH
Yes THANK YOU I never understood this what’s the point of a filter if it’s not actually gonna filter out the builds I can’t use?? It makes me so angry
I think it's on purpose to make you want to buy the other packs.
I also hate that you can't search for multiple # at the same time.
YESSSSSSS OHH MY GOD. NOTHING EVER MATCHES AND IT DRIVES ME UP THE WALL! UP THE WALL, ACROSS THE CEILING, AND BACK DOWN THE OPPOSITE WINDOW!!!
@@liahnotleah A for your efforts.
I hate that we have soooo many counters with no matching cabinets! It drives me insane to where I always use the same 2 sets whenever I build..
That drives me up the wall! I hate it. I don’t know how or why they Sims Team keeps doing this. Tbh, every expansion pack should come with entire sets for each room. Not a mix-and-match.
And don’t you love how pretty much they ALL look completely outdated by now because the game has been out for so long?
it boils my piss that we can't use wall paint on foundations/platforms. We could in other Sims games, but not 4. In Australian, 90% (maybe more) our foundations are the same colour as the rest of our house. It looks so American to have the two tone and I hate it with a passion
Also can't use half tile floor tiles in pools. Learned that one tosay
We should absolutely be able to search by room type and function. Search by metadata.
There are tags like «party», «festival», «game», ...
That Issue has been in the game for a *LONG* time lol. The only time I was able to find the umbrella rack is in kitchen decor 😂
In the gallery searching for builds that have only specific packs that you have
If you check "only packs that I own"
It shows everything anyway so you need to go for basegame unless you have over half of the packs
@@KualinarYes! This is exactly the issue. They need to really change that for the gallery.
@@Kualinar
I use gallery for lots/buildings usually. ^^'
Friezes. Dont even let me get started on that. Also putting landscape near foundation. Or floating objects on lakes
Or accidentally starting the fence from the house and the foundation following the fence line 🤦🏻♀️ foundations in general are a mess
the weird thing about the floor tiles, is that you CAN delete them one by one when they're outside lmao 😭
just redo the whole room system please. i hate the stair railings too, but I REALLY hate how the whole house breaks when you try to make an open view by the stairs. you have to do a whole bunch of extra steps to make deleting a part of the floor work and not have the roof break in 😭😭😭
Don't forget you can't have windows near stairs too because the railings will show through the windows, that's why I never put my stairs to the side, they are facing outwards.
the huge gates thing has always annoyed me bc i have never seen a back garden gate that big before in my life. maybe its just bc im british but most back garden gates ive ever seen are the size of a standard door. i dont doubt that houses with these kind of gates exist but its certainly not a part of my reality. i barely even built front gardens when i build so the gates have no use to me there either
Same. I have a backgate double wide but it was a purpose choice to allow a motorcycle through, the gate before was just a standard door and most of my neighbours don't even have space for anything else.
i see quite a few where i live. granted im in a very expensive area of the us but.
@@aliciles yeah for sure. i really wish we got better gates.
My pet peeve: The lack of doors for fences and none match each other 😅
Edit: Also the fact that the posts get put wherever and you have no control over them
Omg none of the dang wood tones match half the time!!!
@@ChromaloxTTV I know! 😭 so annoying (specially Cats and Dogs furniture that match NOTHING)

The wallpapers with a corner trim that is placed automaticaly - it rarely works well.
Thank you for this video! As a builder these glitches bug me constantly. Another that comes to mind, is objects being deleted when you paint walls.
my gripe this week is “half walls deleting paint/wallpaper after nearby changes”, like if I change a wall next to it or create a room inside of a half wall, it deletes all of the paint. Totally annoying
oh wow I had not noticed that! NOW I will be looking for that.
@@Pressbutanyes! Thought of this as I was building this afternoon and it occurred!
Items should have tags on them! Would make searching so much better!
Exactly! Just type out a tag, press enter and then look every item what has the tag to find what you were looking for. Would be so fun and simple.
They have, but you can't search by tag.
@@zerada00 Should have a drop list of the available tags. Most objects DO have tags.

Omg I had no clue :0
Hate it when you build a house with a foundation and then you place a door but to get to the door you need to place two steps and the game won´t allow it
You heard the man, it infuriates him. EA!
The general public want more sims 3 pack gameplay. You haven’t played all of them yet. (I am the general public)
I hate how you can't extend columns up into roofs. This seems like a small thing, but having a column on a corner of a wall but the corner of the roof can't can really ruin a room
I dont like how columns used inside house do not go down when you go into wall down mode then just column posts sticking up everywhere blocking views.
The stair railings and fences drive me nuts. And the lack of matching gates for fences! Did they just randomly pick gates from catalogs without asking themselves if it MATCHES anything in game?
I hate stair rails!! I feel like it would be soooo easy for them to make it so you can add railing to only one side!
I HATE when you go in first person view and you can see the sky from the first floor of the stairs if you have a second floor. Like why? I have a ceiling. Lol
do you have all the walls up including the roof showing before you go into first person mode?
@@MissisChannel u know what you’re right, I don’t, good tip thank u!
@@Bubblegaze I wasnt sure because I had not noticed and was going to check next time i play sims. I just recently discovered 1st person view like couple weeks ago lol so I really didnt know.
The problem is when youre trying to view the second or third floor with all the walls up@MissisChannel
Another thing that's annoying is that you can't paint the ceiling to match the walls, it always has to be a floor pattern, since when have you seen a ceiling matching the floor instead of the walls in real life, they should've copied the wall colors to floor tiles so our ceilings can match the walls, they finally let us have ceilings and they don't even let us match them with the walls.
i genuinely cannot play this game without over half of twistedmexi’s mods and that’s so sad for EA
Can't play without mods to fix or work around bugs.
Adding friezes to literally anything at this point is a hassle… it only connects to completed rooms so you have to like make a room below the roof with platforms basically and even then sometimes it won’t work… especially if there’s an upper deck patio they don’t attach…
I've been scrolling thru the comments to find someone mentioning friezes to see it is just me they drive absolutely insane
this is mostly an issue w older eps but like why did they give us every single stage prop from get famous and 10 different versions of a cell in get to work, but won’t give us realistic clutter in eps… like we have to buy a separate kit for actual clutter. i use a load of cc for decorating my builds, so the lack of clutter doesn’t bother me as much, but it confuses me when I see items like a $3000 pillar from spa day that i’ve never once used, but ea can’t include like a nice basket in their packs
i hate that they don’t just have a set color palette for wood tones that they use for every pack. it pisses me off when i find a table i like but it doesn’t come in a matching wood tone to the other furniture pieces i’m using.
The stair fence and railing clipping grinds my gears so much
Fences that don’t place on the end of the lot, that you have to leave one tile every time before the end of the lot to put your fence.
sorry what is a frieze?
@@MissisChannel That decorative band/trim you put around the wall close to a ceiling or what google says: a broad horizontal band of sculpted or painted decoration, especially on a wall near the ceiling. The castle kit has one. 🙂
@@CillaNox Thank you for explaining that!
With the wellness pack there is also a soap bar. But when you look into clutter in the bathroom, your can t see it😢
I gave up with the filters and I just type soap or towels or whatever in the search. It still doesn't bring all the soap or towels up though 😂
Basements also get lots of glitches when trying to put stairs down through foundation into them, both lighting glitches where certain lights just wont light up the basement and an ugly empty void in the foundation "hole"
Also i hate how when looking up through a floor window on the first floor from a basement, or through a pool with windows in the basement level, you can't see the stuff that is above, it looks so ugly
Also why can i place pools in the basement but not fountains?
And agree stairs and fencing in this game is just shit, in sims 2 if you want the fence to extend it extends, if you want the railing to "stop" tile per tile, you just have to place individual parts. In sims 4 it just does what it wants and looks awful. Don't get me started on curved walls i don't even use them if i need to make something round i make hexagons. The roof in sims 4 is also so dumb, like they should have an autoroof button for when the shape is complicated it isn't always easy to roof things with these set pieces they have. Not being able to rail one side of stairs and not the other, not being able to lengthen the roof flap on one side but not the other, etc bothers me that everything has to be symmetrical
Another thing that i prefer way more in previous sims games is that i can place floating tiles as long as there is grid (on upper floors) in sims 4 i have to make a room for if i want platform, flooring that floats, decks or anything, and the pieces they have are too big and often delete a bunch of things to place them. Why not give us a "one tile platform" or "one tile floor piece" or just let us place tiles if there is grid in the air
There is a similar problem as rail on stairs with the roof trim : you can see some of them into the walls 🙄
There is a way with mc command to easily copy & paste makeup and I think accessories. Nothing for nails that I know about.
Congratulations 🎉
What I hate is how you can't put fences right on the boundary lines and the fact that enclosed half-walls don't have tops on them.
The staircase/fence stuff drives me INSANE!
And for the love of tacos, can we PLEASE fix the door bug in for rent?! How hard could it be???
Tall fences without appropriate tall GATES to match...
Inability to use a double door at top of a side-facing stair...
Exterior walls STILL disappear after applying a platform...also this can create areas with no cieling as well, which requires "patching" with a flat square in build mode.
"Conflicting wall heights" errors
Aaaand everything you mentioned!
I HATE how fences can’t go to the edge of the lots
You can put a split railing between stairs 4 squares wide or 2, just gotta put two different staircases 2 or 1 square wide side by side. And you can change their directions at the top, one can turn left, the other turning right or from the bottom where they merge into one staircase from two directions partway up. I do it in some of my builds.
The thickness of the railing is very thick
I’ve been having the worst time with stairs, roofs, and fences(inside). The clipping is driving me insane. I basically have to choose between roofs clipping in or floating tiles that don’t make any sense. It does it with half walls too. It makes me SO MAD 😭
I also hate the first thing you showed with the sided stairs so much! 😅 and the railing thing.
What I hate in the gallery: you just can‘t filter the builds for the packs you own, even though you can click on the different packs on the left. Gallery still shows builds that use all other packs 🙄🙄
I hate how we cannot lock a camera to a floor and decorating a bathroom on the edge forces the game camera to the ground
YES! Decorating tight spaces like bathrooms is a pain.
Not being able to disable packs you don't own in the gallery so you can find builds with packs you do own.
Diagonal walls. Nuff said
Resize tool is a great idea, but a lot of items done resize properly
Some of my issues are:
Fences that don't come with a matching gate, or gates that come without a matching fence.
The cabinets and counters!
When you raise a foundation, you have to click and drag on the arrow and only a little raises it too much.
Testify!!! Feckin’ curved walls and internal platforms are so irritating!! And the naming system is so random and US specific!
What I don't understand is why the "foundation trim" and "platform trim" are separate things... it would be so much versatile and easier to use if the foundation trims worked for both.
At least they need to put platform trims in the same spot as foundation because it's NOT a wall.
I swear it was last year that they fixed the railing clipping through the banister or am I tripping? How is this back in the game ughhhh
Also I recalled when I decided to add a basement to a house that was almost fully done - you know the shock when you scroll up to first floor and what you see - deleted objects and destroyed landscape above the basement
YES, ALL OF THIS!!! Also sometimes the game won't let you rotate columns, even though they are diagonal en weird in the automatic placement...
2:04 You can put a central railing if you copy a staircase that already has railing, and you just place them next to each other.
My biggest small thing with sims 4 is the Gallery FILTER BUTTON
It just refuses to actually work unless you click base game only😤
I agree on all of the above and then I want to add "roofing" as that really makes me go insane.
I HATE the way fences clip with stair railings. It’s so annoying!

"Not that I know anything about being small- 💅AnYwAyS💅 "
THAT HAD ME CACKLING SO LOUD LIKE-
You make my days so much brighter everytime you post
"ea's fetish is to infuriate us" nothing but honesty i that statement 😂😂❤
