- Hi everyone!
Did you know it's only 30 cents more to go all the way up to the crown of the Statue of Liberty?? What's the catch you ask? Well you need to book in advance, sometimes 6 months to a year in advance...
BUT with a bit of luck and mostly planning, you can experience a tight and thrilling climb and see NYC from a whole different view!
We highly recommend this as a unique thing to do while in NYC. This ticket includes the ferry ride to and from the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island!!
To book your own crown tickets go to the official website: www.cityexperiences.com/new-y...
This is in no way sponsored, we just wanted to share this experience with you. We hope you enjoy the journey!
Thanks for watching 💕

When my mother and I climbed to the crown in about 1948, the crown was open (no windows). I raced ahead of my mom and grabbed one of the vertical bars of the opening. I leaned out in order to read the tablet -- no mom or security to stop me --. The tablet reads July 4, 1776, per my memory. In 1956, I was the first in my High Scholl class to walk to the top of the Washington Monument. Today, at 85, I can still climb stairs, but many fewer.
That is incredible. What an amazing experience!! Thanks so much for sharing 😊
That is awesome, thanks for sharing 😊 You are so blessed 85, share with the rest of us how to get to your age, amazing 🥰
I thought it said : across the sea these twins stand resolute 😂
Wow, you are the living hostory, sir!
Amen. When I went up in the 90s, still no windows. What a bunch of wooses we’ve become.
I went with my family when I was a teen back in the early 1970's long before the renovations. It was a hot summer's day and the thermometer at the site said that the temperature inside the statue was 120 degrees! Still we made it up the narrow shakey looking stairs, not like the nice ones in the video that they have today. It was very very slow moving with people crammed in front and in back of you. I remember one of the windows in the crown had a crack in it. Still all in all it was a memorable experience though one that my very claustrophobic today self would ever do! It's not for the faint of heart.
thanks for the tour! I've lived in the USA my entire life and I've never seen the inside of the statue, looked dangerous in there or claustrophobic but amazing at the same time.
Hearing that wind in the crown makes me wonder how wild the open air balcony on the torch must have been back in the day. Thanks for the tour.
Cool video...I climbed those ridiculous stairs way back in 1968. Great experience being up inside the statue of liberty; and climbibing to the top. A wonderful memory. I was in awe.
what a perfect day you picked to visit. Having the stunning RMS Queen Mary 2 at her Brooklyn berth seen on a sunny day from the crown is an impressive picture. Definitely adds to the historic importance, thinking of all the people who have sailed into NY harbor past the SoL while on the decks of all the Cunard Transatlantic liners makes this view even more incredible. Thanks for sharing!
We climbed to the crown on one of the hottest days back in 2018. Well worth the climb up the narrow stairs and the cramped crown.
Literally a once in a time lifetime experience.
I like her video because she was clearly nervous about it like I would be ❤
Thank you 😊
@@aKnightlyStory thank you for sharing this awesome experience great job
That was great, always wondered what the inside of the statue was like so thank you 👍
Glad you enjoyed! Thank you 😊
so nice to see it after the restoration, what a nice job!
You seem very nice. Welcome to America! And thanks for the tour!
Thank you very much. That is very kind of you to say! 😊
Thank you for this tour. I haven't been there since I was a small child, so it's nice to see it once again.
I love this, I’ve always wanted to see in the Statue of Liberty.
Awe thank you Stacy! 😊 So glad you enjoyed seeing the inside. It's definitely a unique experience
Thank you so much for making this! My wife and I are going to the crown and this helps us a lot! She’s nervous about the amount of steps and the tightness. Seeing what it’s like helps prepare her.
So glad this helped! You both will love it! Enjoy and thank you for watching 😊
I had no idea it was so small up there, that’s fascinating to see it be so different from what I expected. Still on my list to go to NY one day and climb up it. Thanks for the tour!
I hope you get to experience it when you're in NYC! Thank you for watching 😊
I went here when I was 6. I still remember everything, it was amazing.
That's awesome! It's definitely a memorable experience ✨️😊
Awesome video and I am looking forward to visiting the statue one day.
Thank you! 😊 I hope you have a great time when you get to go
Thank you so much for sharing that was really cool also welcome to America glad to have you here ❤❤❤
Thank you very much!! ❤️ I love this country 🇺🇸
Great Tour of the Statue of Liberty. A+ and Thx so much.😅 Great exercise tour.
Hi Reginald. Thanks so much for the compliment 😊 and haha it's a good fitness evaluation 😅
Thanks for sharing, I have traveled the world seen many sites, even was able to visit NYC for two days, however it was for school so never made it to the Statue of Liberty though I always wanted to go. Thanks for letting me and others share it through you. I may get to visit the it some time but will never be able to go up into the crown as I am 70 and have a bad back. Again thank you, and great video by the way.
Thank you for the kind words 😊 I hope you enjoy your visit next time you're in NYC!
I remember going up to the crown years ago but I just remember the maze of stairs in the body which were intimidating like you said. The long stairs I don’t remember but maybe it was my youth blurring my memory.
Nice video. I went to the top in feb 1969 and have just one picture in/from the crown. Good to see everything which i must have seen about 54 years ago. Thanks
Thanx! This was great and emotional to see. My dad visited the crown in the 60s, he said it was windy at the top, but also extremely hot, so i guess this was before the windows was installed, and def before ventilation. Strange and nice to see the exact stairs my dad walked, i hope i can visit it one day!
Thank You youare a great guide!❤😊
Thank you. Glad it was helpful!
Thanks I did this when I was 14 years old. I didn't know they had opened this up again.
I wish I'd never been there. But thank you so much for showing this greatness! Respect from Russia!
Thanks so much for sharing this visit. Most of us will never get the chance and now you brought it home to all of us. 🙏
Glad you enjoyed, thank you for watching 😊
Mums father and his father visited NYC in 1913 (from New Zealand) and I recall Mum saying they got up to the Crown or the Candle. They stayed with relatives while there. One of whom visited them back here in NZ around WW2… Laurie. NZ. 😊
I did this once in 1987 and another time in 1995. A very memorable part of my childhood. I understand it's a little more difficult to get in now. Back then you'd basically just wait on a giant line for two hours. There wasn't a reservation or anything.
Oh interesting! Although I think now the line would be insanely long 🤔 😅
My partner and I booking a trip to the US next year, NY has always been on my bucket list. Coming from New Zealand. I can't wait to go to the 🗽 statue of liberty, I've always dreamed of visiting it, all the movies I've watched I suppose motivated that lol.... any other recommendations on places to visit?tour? Food places?
Hi 👋! That's exciting! I definitely recommend the high line park and "the Summit One Vanderbilt" where you can see maginificent views of both the empire state and the chrysler building. As far as places to eat, 2nd Ave deli has amazing pastrami. If you're into steak with delicious food and a rich history, definitely hands down Keens Sreakhouse (Babe Ruth and Teddy Roosevelt ate there). We made a video of NYC cafés if you're curious - we love Ladurée in soho. Hope this helps!
Brilliant video, you must be super fit to climb those stairs!!. I'm planning a visit to NYC in May. I quite fancied visiting the Statue of liberty, but I think I'll stick to the boat trip now😅
Hi Linda. That's exciting for May! You should definitely get the pedestal tickets. There is an elevator for it, and the views are nice. I hope you have a fantastic trip! 😊
in 1982 my dad took my cousin and i to the pedestal, as we walked around the wind was so strong, it almost blew me off the side...or at least my little kid brain perceived it that way. it was an amazing experience
Congratulations my fellow American! 🇺🇸 Great video. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much 😊
Awesome !!! 🇺🇲🗽🗽🗽🇺🇲
Some of those camera angles were spectacular.
What a great video...brought back a flood of memories. I climbed up to the crown in 1982 as a 20 year old (I'm 62 now). I completely remember that narrow, one way up/one way down staircase to climb from the pedestal. We were only allowed to stay in the crown for certain amount of time (can't remember that part). Also, some of the crown's windows were actually missing and you felt the wind blowing inside. The other part I remember (laughingly) is if someone ahead you on the staircase "tooted", you got to bathe in the fragrance LMAO! 🤣
Thanks for that. At 74 years of age living in New York I have never been there.
This is a great video. I’m doing this is December and I was concerned about the steps. Nice to know that there are places to rest on the way up. And having the double handrail on the way down will be helpful. I will, however, take the elevator up as far as possible. 😊 Thanks!
Thank you 😊 glad the video was helpful! Excited for you to experience it in December. If you're looking to see some over the top Christmas decorations, check out Oscar Wilde or Lillie's. Have a great trip!
The elevator line is usually very long, but if you have tickets to the crown, it will bring you up to the base.
Went when I was young. The lines today can get very long. It is a great experience but not something to do often.😅 Thanks for sharing.
Lovely thank you. I wish I was there! x
Thank you for watching! 😊
The Statue 🗽 Of Liberty Where Freedom Begins For All American's !!! Young & Old !!!
Absolutely!! 🗽🇺🇲
I've always wanted to go to NYC and visit the Statue of Liberty. But, I live near St. Louis, MO, and have to been to the top of the Gateway Arch. I'm so glad there are elevators to get to the top of the Arch. I'm not sure if I could hike all the way to the top of the Statue of Liberty. Thanks for sharing your video. You have a new subscriber.
I've never been to the gateway arch but will definitely put it on the bucket list! I hope you get to visit NYC and see the statue of liberty in person. Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching 😊
Nice editing, grat information, good video quality....... ❤❤❤❤ from India🇮🇳 you deserve 10 million sub's...... Keep going on🎉
Awe thank you very much!! That's very kind to say 😊
Wonderful host, wonderful video, wonderful music ---> thanks for the wonderful tour! 😀😀😀
Thank you 😊
thank you
Super visite, merci ! Je me suis toujours demandé comment c'était à l'intérieur, maintenant je sais 😊
Bonjour, Je suis contente que la vidéo vous a plu! Merci pour votre compliment 😊
(All buildings sway in the wind, some more than others. I looked up Statue of Liberty- it sways 3" in 50mph winds, and stands 111' high from feet to top of head. That is roughly twice as much movement as you would expect in a tall slender office building with the same wind.)
This was a very interesting video. I've always been curious what it was like on the inside, your video shows it very well.
Thank you for sharing this information! I had no idea before going to the crown that buildings sway. It was really windy the day we went, so it definitely felt more intense. Thank you for watching 😊
Did it in1980. No appointments, just took a ferry to the island, went up. The spiral stairs were old, rusty, and made scary noises during ascend. Never thought I will never do it again in my life.
Wow, I don't think I would have been brave enough to do that 😅 Thank you for sharing!
They have helicopter tours there frequently i gotta try the helicopter tour next.
Great video I hope someday I would get inside statue of liberty
Thank you! ☺Hope you get the chance to, let us know how you liked it when you do!
6:16...the brown door behind the guy with the beanie..is the stairs that go up the her arm up to the torch..very few people get to go up there..
Oh that's awesome!! I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing 😊
If that was the case it would be above her ear, - no the ladder to the torch is much further down !
@@Mr.-Wint probably right. Just took a guess ..wonder if the ear has a view 😄
I did that in the 90s but there were so many people it took hours. It took 2 hours just to reach the top of the pedestal.
i was up there when i was a baby. my dad carried me up around 2000, when it was easier to get tickets
Thank you for sharing we are going to New York in October I’m waiting for knee replacement so will only make it to the pedestal but my son will walk to the Crown he’s very tall do you think he will be ok ? 😊
Hi @janicescott7123! Devin is 6 ft and was ok but he definitely had to watch his head a few times. You can see how it was for him coming down at 6:58. If your son is taller, he may need to crouch a little bit but there are stops when you are heading both up and down. They also don't let too many people in all at once, so he can definitely take his time. There is an elevator to the pedestal for you. I hope your surgery goes well and that you both enjoy your time in NYC! :)
I was on liberty Island 2022 but it was closed for covid restrictions i really did want too see this that's a great view.
Hi Joel. I hope you get to experience it next time you're in NYC!
did this as a kid 45 years ago. i remember a continuous line of people on the steps and no one moved for long periods of time. I couldnt deal with that today
Oh my!! That's probably why they have a reservation system now with very specific times. I would have a panic attack on those small stairs waiting in huge lines 😅😶
Just like Ghostbusters 2 😂
Yes!!! 😁
Was in the CROWN in like 1970
Did the ghosbuster still have their autograph on the wall
Cool.I doubt I'll ever do this so neat to see.You didn't need the music though.
I thought that chic was Christy Canyon !
Good job very nice
Thank you! ☺
might be going to manhattan soon, very exckted!
Awesome! Hope you enjoy your time! 😊 😃
@@aKnightlyStory i didnt end up going but mayb in a few years
@PGRustic oh sorry to hear. You'll have a great time when you're able to make it next time
Anyone remember when u could go to the torch? I think they closed it after the renovations during 86 or 7. I've never been to N.Y. but it surprises me that the steps r less than many traditional lighthouses that I've visited.
So cool! Would have been neat to experience that. I imagine it would have been even more narrow if not requiring a ladder 🤔😱
@@aKnightlyStory I'd imagine so. Did you happen to notice any "off limit* or "authorized personnel" signs that may have lead to further heights and narrow paths? I love lighthouses, but I hate heights, and it really freaks me out on my descent down as others make their way up and along the narrow and winding stairways alongside me. I can only imagine how this would make me feel. Thanks for sharing your video! : )
@vaccumsealed actually I saw both signs if I recall. It was behind a gate pretty high up, not far from the crown if I remember correctly. Maybe one day, they'll decide to open it up again! Thank you for sharing 😊
@@aKnightlyStory oh cool. Yeah, I recall em closing it after 911 took place. Have a good weekend!!
@vaccumsealed you too!
🗽
👍 bravo
Thank you 😊
❤
Oh my god I went there
God bless America
🇺🇸 🗽
Do you have to climb stairs or can you do an escalator or elevator to get to the crown?
Hi, you can take an elevator up to the pedestal (the feet), but after that, you have to take the stairs, unfortunately. There is no other option to get to the crown
Are there no elevators to the crown or closer up at least?
Hi Marian. Unfortunately no. The only elevator is to reach the pedestal part (the feet) but not the actual crown or close to it. Several small platforms to rest though while climbing the stairs
How fit do you have to be to get to the top I wonder??
Hi 👋 honestly it's not as bad as it seems. There are several places to stop and take breaks along the way. The more challenging part is how narrow the stairs are from the pedestal to the crown. As far as fitness, I would say moderate level. We saw people were a range of different ages. Hope it helps!
thank you for your reply and yes it has helped @@aKnightlyStory
yikes! so I can save myself some steps to the pedestal by taking the elevator? does the elevator take you directly to the pedestal? how many steps to the crown? did you book tickets way in advance or the same day?
Hi @melmel4943 ! Yes there is an elevator that takes you directly to the pedestal. After that point, it is only stairs and exactly 162 steps to the crown. And yes definitely book in advance, at least 3 months before your trip. Summer is definitely a lot busier though.
@@aKnightlyStory thanks I'm booked for fall
@@melmel4943 nice!! Fall weather will be perfect. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did 😊
Butiful video
Awe Thank you Imtiaz! Glad you enjoyed 😊
well me with Megalophobia... I don't think the climb and height would effect me much but seeing her face and eyes... I'm toast.. thx for doing this for me
Thank you for watching! 😊
What happens if someone who makes it to the crown suddenly has a medical emergency? Like a heart attack, a stroke, a seizure, etc? Does the Statue's staff just have to let the person die?
Actually, it's funny, you ask. This happened to us last summer when we went back again. A lady fainted inside the crown, and all 4 of us (the 2 of us + 2 of them) were stuck up there with an officer until the EMS arrived. Since it's so small, we had to wait for them to come and examine her, about 15 minutes total. It seems, they have EMS and police staff on the island. It was an interesting experience!
They do have a tiny elevator for absolute emergencies only too
@@aKnightlyStory Wow! So someone fainted up there, and they did not consider that to be an emergency?
@johnvem949 i dont think she collapsed thankfully but got very overheated and very dizzy. We came when she was just recuperating, so I'm not too sure what all went down. After the EMS examined her, they walked to the platform right under the statue's head, and then the young lady and the EMS person took the elevator (since it doesn't actually reach the head). The boyfriend and police officer had to walk all the way down since the elevator only fits 2 people. Was a crazy experience and definitely made the small space feel even smaller! Thankfully, she was ok.
As far as bigger issues like stroke, heart attacks, and such, it would be very tricky as they would probably have to carry them down at least one flight of narrow stairs until the elevator. I'm sure they are used to it, though 🤔
How much did you have to pay to get to the island & go up to the crown of Liberty??
Hi! It was $24.30 per adult when we did it. Make sure you reserve in advance as there are very limited tickets. I have the official link in the description. Enjoy!
@@aKnightlyStory awesome! Thanks!
Where's the door to the arm?
Wait, crown is open again?
Ah, yes, they re-opened it in late 2021, I believe after a break from Covid
Good
Thank you 😊
My parents can not climb, do they have an elevator to travel up please?
Hi there. Unfortunately the crown cannot be reached using an elevator - that is stairs only. However, there is an elevator to the pedestal (below the feet of the statue). To give you an idea, the view from the pedestal is at 3:32 in our video
Here is more info if you need: www.statueoflibertytickets.com/faq/?gclid=CjwKCAjwrpOiBhBVEiwA_473dHtMLdWAMaWDLak80gkRbR5SpVsgar8lgt12yS7Cd0yFy3QcgwLS7BoCkQsQAvD_BwE#29
There appears to be an elevator that goes to the pedestal but not the crown
If they can’t climb simple stairs I guess they waited too many years to go visit the statue
If there too old to climb there is no need for them to go
Thanks for the tour. Now I don’t have to go there.
Héhé 😂😊
iam going to propose to my partner here USA don’t know bout HOLBERRY HEIGHTS it’s gonna be awesome
That's amazing!!! 🎊 👏 💐 Hope you both have a wonderful time in NYC

Love from 🇵🇰
Greetings! Thank you for watching 😊
I thought they closed this and you can no longer climb up???
The crown is still open for visitors, although you do need to reserve at least 3-4 months in advance. The torch is not open to the public however.
They let us stay up there for literally 2 seconds. They kept it moving. Sorta annoying. Really happy i went tho
Oh no, that's so odd they didn't let you stay longer! 😕 It must have been a particularly busy day or the people before you were taking too long... Either case, that is annoying! I'm glad you had the experience
Lol you missed a gym day.
😅😂
Music is rough.
Very nice but oh lord that music it was making my teeth hurt
Thanks 😊 sorry for the toothache lol
Definitely not for claustrophobic people
True, definitely very tight spaces starting from the pedestal
why is an illegal giving us a tour. sad
Hi there. Definitely not an illegal. I came to the US in 2006 on a student visa and became a US citizen in 2014 after going through all the checks, history test, process, oath and fees.
So where are/ were the big wrenches that turned the big nuts for the pedestal? Were they on display anywhere there?
This was great I have always wanted to go there ,nicely done thank you.
