    I love mine. Through rough roads, trails, and epic crashes I never lost my phone. I did end up with some water in my charging port even when using the poncho, but that was after riding through a hurricane. So, yeah, I’d say it’s a great product.

    I've used a QuadLock case for a couple of years now and went OTB on my gravel bike with it going down a steep hill. The crash was bad enough to bend my derailleur hanger but my phone stayed secured and the way my bike light mounts next to it and sticks up higher than it makes it so my phone didn't even touch the ground, not a scratch on it. They also make a universal kit that you can stick to almost any case using a 3M adhesive. I also have the car kit with the industrial strength suction cup. Lets me mount my phone on my driver's window right next to the steering wheel to use the gps. The only real downside is the price, but in my opinion they are worth every penny. When I ordered mine it took a couple of weeks to arrive which wasn't really a problem for me, but when it did finally arrive they sent me a second case for my phone that I wasn't charged for. I don't know if that was a mistake or to make up for the delayed shipping. I haven't used the second case, the first still looks brand new, if a little dirty. I use it as my full time phone case.

    • @radbikeadventure
      @radbikeadventure  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it's def a quality made product which is why we're happy to pay the price. You can also find some discounts every now and then or the 10% off deal getting added to their email list. Universal case is cool but i'm not too fond of using the adhesive. Have you tried it?

    • @jonjones8611
      @jonjones8611 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@radbikeadventure I haven't used the universal kit since I have an iPhone SE, which they make a case for. I've never tried it, but I've heard with 3M brand adhesive you can heat it up with a lighter until it goes dark and bubbly and then stick it to something and it becomes more or less permanent. Probably depends on the thing you're sticking it to as well.

    I have used a very similar system from Morpheus Labs for the past couple of years. Fairly similar mechanism/case but the key difference is that the phone does not automatically lock when you first put it on. It remains secure but it could be twisted off. Locking it so it cannot come off at all requires an additional step. This is both a good and a bad thing. It is nice to just twist on/twist off during casual rides (it can only come off from twisting) but you also have to remember to lock it down if going over technical trails or anything really bumpy just to be safe. The other nice thing about the Morpheus cases is that the mounting mechanism on the case is inset to it is flush with the back of the case so the phone lies flat on a table. I suspect the Morpheus cases are a little lighter as well but cannot confirm. Morpheus also has cool orange cases as an option in case a black case is not your thing.

  • @pyratenomad
    @pyratenomad 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    That system appears to be pretty solid.
    In the event that you forget to remove your phone from your bike, that minute or two that it would take to figure out how to detach the phone from the bracket may be somewhat of a theft deterrent to opportunists, also.
    Speaking of gadgets, how are those Click-Stands holding up?

    I have a few for all my bikes and use them often for the last few years. Best phone mount system there is on the market. However, their car or clip mounts are not that great. If you change phone, you need new case too.

      Dan Hoang Nice! Ya I definitely need to order one for my bike. True about the phone case however they do make a universal case mount (haven’t tried it so not sure about it) and the way I see it you’re going to want a case for your new phone anyway and the Quad Lock one is really robust and well made!

    Do they do a water proof case? I use Ultimate Add-Ons. They do totally waterproof cases for most phones which I have on my bike which works fine. The Quad lock itself looks good but the case would be more important for me. I don't have a Quad lock case. You should make clear whether you receive any inducements or promotions from Quadlock.

    • @radbikeadventure
      @radbikeadventure  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Alex Morgan They make a cover (that slips over the top of the case) called the Poncho but I’ve heard mixed things regarding the touch screen capability with it on. Many phones now are water resistant which makes the poncho a little redundant.

    How do you manage with the Phone Battery Life during a Daily ride. Would you ever need a portable power pack. I have a Nokia 7 Plus and it has a large Battery, and getting about 2 days without Charging. Would be interesting to here of experience using Strava for Recording Route for 4/5 hours to see if this would work with my Giant Defy road bike, instead of needing a separate Cycling Computer like a Wahoo or Garmin which cost a lot of money, and I wouldnt use most of the performance features on these Cycling Computers, Thanks

    Relying on rubber bands to hold it on makes me nervous. All rubberbands eventually fail/dry out/stretch. So a preride inspection is needed every time. Glad they offer tons of other mounting options. Relying on adhesive or rubberbands is a no go for me. Great review

    I had one of these for my tour but I went to Mexico to Panama and everyone said(in Mexico) you never have you phone exposed so I never used it. I just had a feed bag with a spot on the side that was perfect for my phone. I just pulled it out when I needed it. I also was paranoid about leaving my phone in direct sunlight all day, probably not justified but just a worry that I had.

      a GPS like garmin is not just for tracking the route. i make my routes on the pc or get it from the net, check it, and then i ride the route.
      a real outdoor GPS is more stable on driving offroad or rain. It is a bit more work to get the OSM Maps on them, but the routing is better then what google or other onlineservices do.
      I only benefit on the GPS then on the stupid smartphone.
      I always have the whole offline map for my trips with me. u can also put map parts on more then one micro SD cards. like u two go to different countries. u dont have to take the worldmap with u on the card.

      @@radbikeadventure I can not recommend the Osmo Pocket. I did a video "20 reasons not to buy the Osmo Pocket". I'd rather recommend the Osmo Action or the GoPro7, especially for your bike trips! Much more easy and convenient to use and the only weakness is filming in low light. Check out the videos, I have a osmo action and a osmo pocket playlist on my channel. :o)

      @@saarland2china I watched through your Osmo videos (very informative!) and seems like if I was going to get another camera I would now lean towards the Osmo action! My trust with GoPro is semi-broken with all the problems I have with the Hero 5. Just seems crazy something so high priced cuts out audio 1 every 5 or 10 clips. That and a host of other issues like freezing and error messages. Ugh.

      @@radbikeadventure Really ok that is weird! Many people liked the Gopro Hero 5. IMHO the Gopro 6 was a complete fail but the Gopro 7 improved A LOT! Especially the timewarp mode is really impressive, especially for your bike tours. The osmo does not offer this. And a little spoiler alert: Osmo Action is made out of very cheap material. NEVER EVER drop it! I will tell you in my last Video, why the Osmo Action is NOT an Action cam... I will add another 5-15 osmo action videos to my playlist. One every day. Just watch them from time to time and you can decide. I will do a resume in the end.

      If you're going to be doing some serious mountain biking I definitely would not recommend having your phone on a mount like this. For general road riding and a bit of gravel we never found it to be a problem. Darin's phone is still going strong and never once came loose. Hope that helps

      Andri Egilsson it’s hard paying that much for just plastic and rubber. But it is well designed and easy to use. And I haven’t seen any cheaper alternatives that look of similar quality as the quadlock. Do you have any suggestions for a more budget friendly accessory? We could get and compare.
