Thank you for your video! I know nothing about cars and since my first car I was told to replace my tires every 6months... so I have for the past three years... thinking people wouldn’t con me... today I went and of course they said I needed 4 new tires again... well thanks to your video I got one of those gadgets and nope well and truly in the green... I am sure to shave a bunch :-)
My tires are 8 yrs old.
Just got my CDL will start driving soon need one for sure thanks
Great review
Great explanation. Thanks!
I like your style G
Good advise and demo. Thanks!
I started driving trucks others trucks on vac. I was worried about a tire being min 4/32 sec. Bought one and had no clue what -11 meant.
Thank you (things dmv do not teach)
I would replace once it reaches yellow too. 4-5/32.
Thank you for all that good information.
Any time, Enrique!
Hey bud! Got a question I hope you can answer. I have Ko2 tires on my truck, fairly aggressive tread when new. So I guess my question is, how can these gauges be universal? I would imagine that a new set of truck tires vs a new set of car tires would have a large difference in tread depth starting out, so would I be correct in assuming that they would enter a “yellow depth” at different times? Or does it not matter about the “like new depth” and they’re are all considering “yellow depth” at 6/32 straight across the board? I appreciate your time and great video too!
I think it is the same for both
Mine has two measurements. MM and 32nds. What should I go by. Trying to see how much tread I’ve used up on my motorcycle. New it showes 10/32.
I do tire rotations along with many other things at work and, I normally will use the mm 'millimeter' measurement.
For a more accurate reading, I'd use the 32nds.
My tire gauge has three 3/32 columns and there a little staggered, why?
Very helpful, thank you!
It's not a tire gauge. It's a tread depth gauge. The proper way of measurement is to measure at the wear bar indicator in the groove of the tread. The wear bar is a small, more shallow point in the tread groove. Once the tire has worn to this point, the tire is legally bald and time for replacement. This is where the hydroplaning effect comes into play. When the tire is new, with plenty of tread depth, the water on the road is able to get out from under the tire. As the tire wears down, the grooves of the tire fill with the water, there is no way to shed the water. Next thing you know you are spinning out of control. Stay safe y'all 😎
Thanks!!!!
What if the gauge becomes loose ? Just replace it ?
Panda Man! 🐼
Great video. Thank you for the info.
You bet, Michael!
Thank you
Thanks pete!
I rec a replacement at about 4/32" 2/32" is kinda pushing it...
Bravo! PvP Thanks!!! great videos.
Just found one in my trunk.
Had my tires replaced yesterday.
Thanks for the video!
Those tires look brand new....I wouldn't change em
Thanks
Slick!
Would it pass safety if its in the yellow on the reader?
Those tires would still be safe to use, but they need to be moved to the back of the car if the car has front-wheel drive. They will last longer after a tire rotation. The front wheels always wear down faster than the back wheels if a car has front-wheel drive.
In my opinion anything at 5/32nds already plan on replacing the tires within 10,000 miles. I would never run them down to 2/32ds. You lose a lot of traction on wet roads already at 5 to 4/32nds. Also keep in mind to check the tread in the outer edge of the tire.
what is 7,30 secondes ? metric please
5.55mm
I have brand new tires that are in the yellow lol
Tread depth is not an indicator of how safe a tire is.
Tread depth is an indicator of how legal your tires are.
@@francoamerican4632
Are there different levels of legal tread depth?
Yep, real men drive on steel belts.
