    Yo mani this is an absolutely CLUTCH video my man. I started my first day at a tire changing place and I asked the "manger" with 5 years of experience what 2/32nds was and I obviously should've put it together on my own but he couldn't give me an answer and told me to look it up. Unreal. You taught me more bout tires in 5 minutes than he did in 7 hrs

    Top stuff !

    That’s probably the best explanation I’ve heard, the average new SUV tire is @ 10/32 so you can pretty much use the following numbers as percentages so if you’re at 7/32 you have 70% if you are at 4/32 you have 40% left etc. etc.

    Great video, but the math is a little oversimplified. If the life of a tire that starts at 10/32 inch tread depth ends at 2/32, then for instance, a tire at 4/32 does not have 40 percent of its life left, it has 25 percent left (2 of the 8 32nds that can be worn down from 10 to 2).

    • @tara8050
      @tara8050 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, his math seems right to me. You can use proportions for this type of stuff. If 10/32 = 100%, then you can cross multiply 2/32 with 100% and divide that by 10/32 and you get 20%.

    • @tara8050
      @tara8050 ปีที่แล้ว

      Considering you cannot go lower than 20% tire life (in the US) so at 2/32, you’d need to replace your tires asap.

    while there are some wear guidelines - conditions do determine a lot when it comes to when to change tires - for example you live in SoCal - it hardly ever rains - plenty of people driving on 2/32 with no problem (until it rains) but you live in Breckenridge CO and you get snow from October to May - I would change at or before 4/32

    This channel is very educational and I like your point of view on the subject. I wanted to know how fast can a tire tread wear on a tire that have 90,000 tread wear on it go

    • @ManiiZilla
      @ManiiZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      X_slap_my _nutz_X lol nice username ahaha and thanks for the feedback but if you’re talking about tread wear rating then usually the higher the treadwear rating the more stiff a tire is but you need to understand that if a tire is more stiff it will last longer because it won’t wear as fast as a softer tire BUT because it’s much more stiff it will crack easier with age so just because a tread wear is high doesn’t mean the tire will last long. I’ll probably make a video on this but the best way to extend the life of your tires is: proper tire pressure, proper tire rotation, proper alignment, and proper age of tire. These are the most important to ensure long tire life

      @@ManiiZilla so as long as I'm keeping the proper air in the tire and putting tire shine on my tire making sure the sun doesn't cracked my tires. Good video simple and easy to understand, depending on your weather where you live makes a big difference to,4/32 5/32 vs new can be another 100 150 feet in a panic stop. I'm at like 5/32 if i can make it though winter I would ride them a little longer. But I am temped to go with a pair of cross climate 2 tires because there is $150.00 cash back. I had Bridgestone duelers 687 and they where decent I wasn't crazy about him I thought they were a little loud they were great in the snow and they were brand new. But I wouldn't buy him again they're the same price as the michelins. I also had really good luck with sumitomo ht p03 I think they make a great tire and are underrated but they don't really seem to be all that much cheaper than the cross climates.

    To me the tire is super important, I check it every morning, if a tire is leaking air or goes flat, you going to spend alot of time, getting it towed to get fix or replaced. Everything else is not difficult for example battery, if battery dies get it jump simple as that.
