Weird the speedrun for all gold medals is done by someone with massive amounts of experience and he says they don't cheat. Almost like pulling a clip of one battle out of thousands isn't going to prove anything.
Statistically speaking, every outcome is possible given enough time. That doesnt make statistical impossibilities any easier to cope with when they occur. Not to mention the fact older gen AI has extra knowledge of what you intend to do on top, skewing the odds in their favour anyway :( But hey, this morbidity is why i enjoy this kind of endgame content so much, trying to beat fate is so much fun
They have put 500 hours into the BT. Let's be very generous and assume each battle takes an average of 5 minutes, and we end up with 6,000 BT battles. It would be weird and problematic if you didn't get a 1/5,000 run of bad luck in one of those battles.

Battle frontier is where you begin to realize that statistics matter. Once you make that realization, you’ll understand that the game is absolutely not cheating and that you need to start being strategic.
Bruh why doesn't Latios know Surf, would have ko'd that cheating Rhydon, but the quick claw cheat would have came in and it could have fired a ko megahorn or insta kill horn drill 😭
so i did a quick math on this and that exact scenario had about a .2% change of playing out that way. for that kind of luck if all their battles are similar in length (added a bit of pad time to round it up to a minute) at 500 hours that would have happened roughly 60 times. TL;DR: statistically improbably stuff is more likely to happen the longer you do something.
I recently lost a frontier factory run to a first try fissure hit on a Metagross that had 4 double team boosts, followed by two back to back crits for the loss. This clip was definitely harder to watch though.
Not trying to have a “gotcha” but here’s my math: 85% chance megahorn hits 6.25% chance it crits 15% chance meteor mash misses 30% chance horn drill hits 20% chance quick claw activates 30% chance horn drill hits .85*.0625*.15*.3*.2*.3 = 0.0001434375 = 0.1434375% chance Right? That assumes no accuracy drops/raises on the Rhydon, no accuracy raising item on the metagross (wide lens was introduced in Gen IV so I don’t know what else there would be), and no quick claw on the Slaking of course.

damage is predetermined as well, i use an emulator and i rewinded the game, every attack always did the same amount of damage, after i tested it with wild pokemon, and it was different since obviously attacks in pokemon use a roll value

It's the battle frontier. You only have 3 usable pokemon and you can't chose after every battle. You have the same 3 mons for your entire run at one of the facilities unless you are defeated, then you can chose your team of 3 again to try and get a 50 and 100 win streak. The dude is also using Latios. It only learns Surf, Dive, Waterfall and Solar beam as coverage for ground/rock types. Also Latios has a very high special attack and Rhydon has a very bad special defense.
Just had a Kingler hit 3 guillotines in a row one battle away from Nolan. The percentage of moves hitting and missing and confusions doing nothing to these AI really bothers me.
I have literally beat the battle tower with a every single monotype team and also with a team with only non-fully evolved pokemon. Yes, the RNG feels cheaty sometimes and therefore it takes multiple attempts to do these challenges. But the AI is predictable and exploitable and there are many things you can do to decrease the likelihood of bad RNG to ultimately win. Thats what I love about this facility!
Bro this just gave me P.T.S.D to the very core. I just lost against a horn drilling Nidoking. First it OHKO’d my Swampert with horn drill, then my Rhydon suffered the same fate. Two horn drills in a row then I send out sceptile who had the speed advantage with leech seed. Leech seed misses! Then I get hit with a third horn drill in a row to end my battle factory run. I hadn’t even made it to battle 7 on my first streak.
I don't understand why everyone is phrasing it like this when it's much easier to comprehend if you just say it's around 1 in 5000 (1 in 5153 if you want to be anal). But that's just the chance that it happens in EXACTLY this way. There are plenty of other ways that this could have played out where they still lost. The real lesson is not to put an 85% accuracy move on a Pokemon you want to be consistent. You want to limit the ways that RNG can screw you over, because over enough battles, every crazy outcome can and will happen.

damage is predetermined as well, i use an emulator and i rewinded the game, every attack always did the same amount of damage, after i tested it with wild pokemon, and it was different since obviously attacks in pokemon use a roll value
Well the damage rolls could be pre-loaded at some point before the battle, like when you click continue or something.
Maybe the game match ran along a pre-rolled "seed" instead of being a random roll.
We want battle frontier back because it was the best post game. The cheating can stay behind though

I only did battle frontier once and ended up losing to the same thing that was happening in the video I didn't even bother looking at the battle frontier in the map after what happened

fun fact in gen 4 because of a glitch wonderguard was ignored by fire fang. If You used a hacked wonderguard Ghost/dark suddenly the trainers Will use fire fang
I swear accuracy in Pokemon is bs. If a move isn't 100% accurate it might as well be 10% accurate because even 95% accurate moves miss almost as often as they hit

The fact that I got Horn Drilled "twice" after the Rhydon used it in the previous turn and I miss my Psychic which is 100% Accuracy and my accuracy hasn't been lowered yet confused the hell out of me

To be fair, the guy made the mistake of not using a water or grass type move on that Rhydon 🤔
It's the battle frontier. You only have 3 usable pokemon and you can't chose after every battle. You have the same 3 mons for your entire run at one of the facilities unless you are defeated, then you can chose your team of 3 again to try and get a 50 and 100 win streak. The dude is also using Latios. It only learns Surf, Dive, Waterfall and Solar beam as coverage for ground/rock types. Also Latios has a very high special attack and Rhydon has a very bad special defense.
I'm playing battle tower again and there's always a magmar that outspeeds everything 😭
Just had a Kingler hit 3 guillotines in a row one battle away from Nolan. The percentage of moves hitting and missing and confusions doing nothing to these AI really bothers me.
I have literally beat the battle tower with a every single monotype team and also with a team with only non-fully evolved pokemon. Yes, the RNG feels cheaty sometimes and therefore it takes multiple attempts to do these challenges. But the AI is predictable and exploitable and there are many things you can do to decrease the likelihood of bad RNG to ultimately win. Thats what I love about this facility!
Rhydon is a chad. It wants you to stop playing and be more protective.

Bro this just gave me P.T.S.D to the very core. I just lost against a horn drilling Nidoking. First it OHKO’d my Swampert with horn drill, then my Rhydon suffered the same fate. Two horn drills in a row then I send out sceptile who had the speed advantage with leech seed. Leech seed misses! Then I get hit with a third horn drill in a row to end my battle factory run. I hadn’t even made it to battle 7 on my first streak.
In Violet when fighting Iono, she kept using Hex, with Tera Mismagious one shoting even my strongest Pokemon like Cyclizar

I don't understand why everyone is phrasing it like this when it's much easier to comprehend if you just say it's around 1 in 5000 (1 in 5153 if you want to be anal). But that's just the chance that it happens in EXACTLY this way. There are plenty of other ways that this could have played out where they still lost. The real lesson is not to put an 85% accuracy move on a Pokemon you want to be consistent. You want to limit the ways that RNG can screw you over, because over enough battles, every crazy outcome can and will happen.
I think you forgot that Megahorn is 85% too and quick claw is 20% in Gen III+

If you just switch pokemon very regularly you can keep your party pretty even level wise, and you can get an exp share that just doesn't work the same
