  • The 2023 Suzuki S-Cross now has All-Wheel-Drive and an (apparently) all-new interior! So why am I so mad about it?
Today we will be taking a look at the top-spec Suzuki S-Cross AllGrip Prestige, to see if all the changes are worth the EXTRA $14,000! We’ll see everything that is new with this Crossover SUV and let you know if it really holds up against stiff competition like the Toyota Corolla Cross, and the Kia Seltos! Let’s talk about it!

The best fantastic, little SUV ever. You don't need more car than a SUZUKI S-Cross GLX. 10 years warranty, reliable like all Suzuki cars, very economic, durable etc. I just bought one two month ago. I had before a 10+year old E-Class Mercedes, but this car is much more, very practical and capable for all road relations. What is sure, I can tell to everybody, you really can forget repair cost for 15 years !!! .I like it. It is real fun to drive it. I am very very proud on my Suzuki S-Cross. (A proud owner from Europe)

had it today for a test. It drives ok, didn't expect such a hard suspension. Really lots of cargo space if you fold the rear seats. What I really didnt like are the materials in the cockpit. Its not cheap hard plastic its cheap soft plastic. You can bend the glove box/door cover with yout little finger. Infotainment is ok with apple car play.

It would be my opinion that your review was somewhat unfair. You consider that the S Cross has excessive road noise. I think that is subjective and depends on what you are comparing with. So perhaps you had stood out of a Mercedes S Class or similar.. that's fair enough. I purchased the same model S Cross as reviewed this year here in Ireland and traded in a 3 year old Hyundai Tuscon N Line. No difference in road noise whatsoever: thats the opinion of two drivers. I am really pleased with my choice to date, performance and fuel consumption is excellent. A really nice car to live with and not just drive for a short while to review. You paid scant attention to the extra large sun roof. What a brilliant feature and lacking in many of the comparison cars you obviously favour. I would have thought with your climate this would be a very welcome feature ! Did I mention the Hyundai I traded in ?? 2.5 years old with 35000Km and yet in that time it had 4 replacement fuel pumps fitted, ( yes 4 ) the 'fuel gauge sender' in the fuel tank corroded and 'stuck' at quarter full leaving us stranded. From start to finish it failed the Main Dealer to get Android Auto operational. Hyundai,,,,, from the same Korean stable as KIA?? You gave the latter brand a mention I believe..By contrast we had a Suzuki Swift in the family for 4 years without a single warranty issue. The marque's reliability is legendary, I missed out if you gave that particular vital point a mention. My one and only complaint: like a lot of cars it comes with the rather silly puncture repair kit and no spare. This is €300 extra. On another Australian revies the car supplied was actually supplied as standard with a spare. I missed out if you mentioned the inclusion / exclusion.
Overall, great car to date and if it proves as reliable as our Swift we will be best pleased with our choice... .. even if it has some " scratchy plastic " and no Air Vents for rear passengers. . . my Hyundai had lovely passenger air vents, when it was working and not having warranty work done !

      1) 2WD version is more quiet than 2016 tucson 1.6GDI, I´m driving both regularly 2) yes, it is louder than majority of current competitors. Cars became really quiet lately. It is a pleasant byproduct of low emission effort. Low friction low vibrations is resulting in low engine noise. Actually S-cross HAS low engine noise. It is loud due to stupid aerodynamics. It is shaped as a small fridge on top of big one. Plus all that jewelry around mask and rear lights is shaped to make air turbulences.

I actually quite like the look of it!
Outside restyle has made the world of difference and the interior, particularly the dash feels like a homely slice of yesteryear and I’m ok with that.
I also kinda like the subtle hint back to its SX4 lineage, but the old SX4 from 2006 actually had more power from its NA 2.0 and went really well.
I looked at the new S-Cross myself a few months ago, it wasn’t really on my radar because it’s spec list even at Prestige level really doesn’t sit well for its $44,000 asking price but I ADORED the enormous panoramic sunroof.
I placed my order for a Seltos GT-Line a week later and while that’s even more expensive than the Suzuki, it’s a much better car overall despite a few equipment oversights itself, for instance, I noticed the S-Cross has a 12v outlet in the boot, something the Seltos is denied.
The Suzuki doesn’t really do anything wrong expect price itself out of contention, a near $10,000 cheaper SsangYong Korando Ultimate (something else I drove and it was very good!) would be a better buy at this level

I have a 2023 one here in Ireland, where it's much cheaper than equivalent models from other manufacturers. Mine is the Ultra model (the top spec one) and cost €36.5k which is probably the highest price you'd pay for one in Europe because Ireland has exorbitant taxes on cars. I agree it's difficult to justify at Australian prices, but I absolutely love my one. Such a pity it's way over-priced for yourselves in Australia.

Complaining about the price? In Germany the normal model in metallic black with a six gear manual shift costs (at the current rate of exchange) 33000 Euros drive away price which is approx. 55000 Australian Dollars. All cars have become expensive - configure a VW Tiguan to roughly match the S-Cross then here in Germany it will cost you approx. 5000 Australian dollars more than the S-Cross, and it's not even a (mild) hybrid. On top of that, the VW Tiguan with the 130 HP engine (the S-Cross has 129 HP in Germany) has higher fuel consumption. So maybe going for slightly less quality is worth it in the end, although I wouldn't consider Suzukis as having bad quality. I went for the dealer's demo car, luckily it had only 34km on the clock (one test drive), but I was still granted 9000 Euros discount (approx. 15000 Australian dollars).

We run Suzuki's in the UK, the extended family have owned several.
We have the "ugly" previous model, great value for money (VFM), competent car, a couple of small warranty glitches (mainly admin c@ck ups during the PLANdemic). The whole range should be fitted with cross/all climate tyres and not "summer/ECO" tyres in the UK, apart from that it was a great brand. The SCross, was great car, useful too.
But Suzuki's new pricing strategy? Are they on a Kamikaze mission (no pun or offence intended)? What the hell are they thinking? Okay material costs have increased but they've now lost that £10k sweet spot for small, fun, sporting hatches (the thinking man's mini - which the Japanese truly understand). And above those cars, the Swift and Ignis ranges? If that wasn't bad enough? Stupid money, goes into direct competition with Mazda, Nissan (big in the UK) et al. An interesting business student case study (or should that be post mortem? We've lost one great Japanese brand, in the UK, Mitsubishi already, hope Suzuki doesn't go the same way.
Okay there's the suiciding of net zero, when, out of 11,000 academic papers, not one draws a conclusion re "Carbon Climate Change" - we are carbon based life forms, we need carbon to exist. Plus Li-Ion batteries are dirty and lethal, like wind turbines - emperor's new clothes!
On the whole a great brand, often quirky, VFM (used to be), fun, reliable.
