I own this car since a couple of months now and I absolutely love it. I also drive a Peugeot 2008 from my company and in comparison I prefer my Vitara.
The four cylinders 1.4 has plenty of torque and free from vibrations that you can't even tell if it's running or not.
On the highway at 130kmh is not super quiet but also far from noisy. Steering wheel is very light though. These two aspects are remarkably different from this video. The display can be easily changed from the dash and you get plenty info such as fuel economy, tyre pressure, hybrid system etc.
Quality of material is indeed not that great but this car is a joy to drive and to live with

you tested the "Cool" 2WD version (the cheapest, it misses many features) and 1.0L engine (which is the weakest). 1.4L turbo "Top" 4WD version is completely different. Btw this car is brilliant, specially considering it has 4WD system... so it's a real SUV, not just a lifted normal car which cannot drive through 2 inches of snow. You just considered a bit too much things which are "not so relevant", while this car is much more solid than its competitors (in the same segment). Only Renegade and few others are comparable, if we talk about real B-SUV. Not the Captur nor the Kamiq...

The Vitara is way cheeper than other cars in the same class here in Sweden, so therefore it is a better choice.

My father in law has a vitara 1.6 allgrip.
I drove it, up the hill on country side road, with gravel and stuff like that. Brilliant car!
    Good mpg!
    Good engine!
    Manual gearbox, very solid!
I would say one of the best crossovers for a budget car!

Don't think you know much about cars. The Vitara is much better than the VW group cars. Why? Reliability reliability reliability. Plus the 1.4 booster jet engine is a peach. It's really fast for this type of vehicle and very refined. In the VW group cars the engines are troublesome long term. This fact has been documented in many car surveys. Stellantis for example Peugeot engines are poorly designed using a stupid and troublesome wet belt design. Suzuki vehicles are all about reliability, ease of ownership and longevity. Think you need to go get a bit more knowledge about cars before making an opinion.

It is no more expensive than VW/ Stellantis group cars and if kept long term will be cheaper to run due to superior reliability and customer service. The price along with their reliability and durability was their entire competitive advantage as a business. If they aren’t cheaper they’ve lost their competitive advantage which leaves little incentive to now get the car new if consumers can buy a car about the same price that is superior in terms of quality.

@@6ixSpeedManual Suzuki 1.4 Boosterjet engine is better than the VW and Stellantis 3 cylinder equivalent. This is due to superior reliabiliity and quality of the engineering. These are the facts. If you don't believe me check out for yourself. Also ALL car brands today are too expensive and ALL car brands are much pricier than they were a few years ago. Look David I don’t really know what to tell you. You clearly own this car so any criticism I have for it will offend you. So I’ll tell you something you clearly don’t understand. People are allowed to have differing opinions and that’s ok. You decided to watch the entire video instead of clicking away just to have all the information before you made a hateful comment and I quite frankly commend the dedication. But you clearly have deep insecurities that you think will be alleviated through being hateful online. You have some maturing to do (and that’s coming from me). Wish you all the best Dave

@@6ixSpeedManual Dave, I can't see how honest criticism can be regarded as 'hateful'; it certainly wasn't intended as such.
I don't own one, incidentally, but I did have it's predecessor, the MKIII Grand Vitara and it was one of the best vehicles I've ever owned - and that includes Mercedes and BMWs which were luxuries I could enjoy when they were company cars and I didn't have to foot the inflated service and repair bills.
Call it feedback then, if you will, but I don't feel you did a fair, considered or objective review of the car.

I have a 1.6 petrol sz5 allgrip. It is slow in auto, however putting it in sport mode will liven up the performance. It's a great car. Very practical with lots of features. I would recommend buying one of these, but avoid the booster jet models. To much to go wrong. And only buy a diesel if you do lots of miles

You made a lot of valid points. I am buying this car and I wanted to see what others think. I am getting this car mostly for its reliability but your review helps me know what to expect. Coming from an Audi A7 3.0T Quattro Prestige, it's going to be hard but I will get used to my base 1.6L non-turbo front-wheel-drive Suzuki Vitara which I expect to be a lot more reliable and more dependable than the Audi crap.

In romania you can get this car with a 10 year or 200.000km warranty. VW only offers 3 on their cars. It's not great looking, probabile not the best quality but for the same price you can get a 1.4 instead of a 1.0, a lot more options and a much better warranty. Is it the best car? NO. Is it the best deal for a new crossover at the moment? Probabile yes

I have 1.4t AWD Auto which was must for towing caravan and boat. Cons: wind noise especially in back seat, no volume control, on my 7inch screen volume stays where you left when car starts. On new 8inch if you don't want to listen to radio tough luck you have to turn volume down everytime car starts. Gimmicky console displays, only useful one is fuel ecomony, could've added oil, transmission temps or tire pressures.
Pros: No problems towing 1000kg caravan, never found it lacking in power and that is towing over lot of steep windy roads, stayed with traffic and even passed campervan on passing lane. With 300kg boat and loaded car its like its not there for handling and ample power for sensible passing. I normally prefer manuals for towing but with 230nm at 1500rpm the 6spd auto is fine especially when sport mode is used on windy roads. The pad shifters are nice to have but something I rarely use. Quick and economical when lightly load, 6.2L per 100km on open road at 100kms.
Love adaptive cruise control and safety stuffing like lane departure and collision detect flash on display occassionally but very rare to get beep out of them. We have mixed bag of new vehicles at work and some of their safety features beep every few minutes and half time don't know why.
Don't know what long term reliability is on turbo but being Suzuki should be lot better than european competitors. Auto should be bullet proof if serviced regularly unlike DGS on competitors. I would avoid dry clutch DGS if towing they don't like heavy loads and don't think about trying to reverse caravan up steep hill, it'll cook them. The auto has one other advantage over DSG with these small turbo engines, helps soften power delivery. VW van with DSG can be handful sometimes when boost kicks in 2nd at roundabouts in wet. If driving hot hatch that be more or plus than minus.
When comes to small SUVs with AWD for towing there isn't lot to choose from and most have DGS. In lot markets the AWD isn't offered.
If you only need 2wd the Vitara wouldn't be my first choice but still worth test drive.

You should try the Toyota equivalent of that car, they look about the same, but there are minor differences. Frankly I prefer the Toyota Styling wise, the infotainment is better too. We have one at home, belongs to my dad, it has a 1.5L mild hybrid engine, like you said it is not a sports car, If you drive it like a lunatic, you are going to end up in a ditch. No lie. It's not bad in my opinion. Strip the badge and it's a Suzuki in the end of the day, but not bad.
