One thing I respect the Chinese for, is their “it will take generations to make things right” mindset. Too many third world countries are immigrating to a functional system instead of fixing their home. He's grossly oversimplifying things. The Belgians, like other Europeans in Africa, went to great lengths to not share any form of education with locals. Any infrastructure that was built was done solely for the purpose of extraction, not national development. On leaving the country, they undermined local leadership by having a promising Prime Minister assassinated in coordination with the CIA, and then propped up puppet dictators that were no different in practice than the thieving Europeans that preceded them. There are so many factors working against the Congolese people, but I guess it's much easier to just blame them for their own situation.

    • @yeeyee5057

@@yacobz Bruh the Chinese had it worse what do you mean. The Europeans fucked around in China, imported several thousand tons of opium into the country and extracted billions of wealth out of China with the unequal treaties, but since they "technically" didn't colonise it like Africa they didn't even bother developing the place before they left. Even worse was that during the early half of the 20th century China was plagued with famines, civil wars, floods, and warlordism, and Japan then invaded and killed as many Chinese as the Nazis killed Soviets. Then when Mao finally won he fucked up so bad around 50 Million people died from his inept policies. China only really began to grow after he died after 1976.
You can't honestly believe that African countries, which were relatively quiet with few wars during colonial rule, and were granted independence around 20-30 years before Mao's death, were unable to improve, and in South Africa's case, gotten worse?

@@stonem0013 Except they weren't. The Belgians didn't even want to be in the Congo, and tried to ignore King Leopold II's attempts at colonizing Congo. The Congo Free State of King Leopold II only lasted 23 years, when the Belgian state took control of the Congo in 1908. From there, they proceeded to give the Congolese countless different concepts of governance, administrative divisions, and economic structures. In the 40s and 50s, the Congo was massively urbanized. You can still see these efforts in cities like the capital of the Congo, Kinshasa, which went from a population of 21.5k in 1935 to 174.6k in 1955. The Belgians built the Banque du Congo Belge, or the Bank of Belgian Congo, which was a monopoly in Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi, which helped native Congolese in post-independence Congo, after becoming the Banque du Congo:
"Simultaneously, the BCB accelerated the elevation of native Africans within its staff, raising their share in management from 10 percent in early 1960 to 30 percent in early 1961 and over 40 percent by the end of 1963."
The Belgians absolutely did teach the Congolese things. Leopold II doesn't represent all of Belgian Congo.

As an African, I hate to hear this, but it’s the God damn truth. Not all African countries of course as there are some bright spots. Take Somalia where I am from: the Italians left in 1960 and handed over a beautiful viable state with adequate infrastructure to build upon. Fast forward nearly 50 years later, Somalia is an utter hellhole with death and destruction everywhere you go, a country with not even a single operating factory as they have been destroyed and looted, the people who are starving on fertile lands (in the South), a corrupt, inept, tribal “government” which barely controls the capital city with the assistance of African Union troops and a country rampant with armed gangs and terrorists labelling it the most dangerous country in the World. As a Vietnamese person, after every period of colonization or war in Vietnam, the country has examined and adapted what those experiences had given them and that’s why there is such a stark contrast between the Vietnam of just a few decades ago and the Vietnam of today. Sure, being colonized or imposed on by a foreign power is never something you’d be looking forward to, but there’s always something one can gain in even negative situations such as that, and I think countries such as Vietnam, China, India, etc… have understood that well and been rewarded for that.

It also wasn't his fault his parent's generation destroyed all that technology, infrastructure, agriculture, industry and law the colonists left behind, but that doesn't mean he can just ignore that fact. He has to accept his history, learn from previous mistakes and then, and only then, can his country begin to prosper in any way, shape or form. They're still going to struggle thought, because the black mind just isn't hardwired to think about the future (that's scientific fact, google it if you want, there's plenty information about it on youtube as well), it's a great deal of why they struggle.

They sang and danced and celebrated but the next day they ate the seeds from the bags instead of planting them. My teacher's team sent furniture for the local school, the africans sang and danced and celebrated but they never assembled the furniture and ended up using the planks as firewood. They sent a motorcycle to help them travel long distances to other villages, they sang and danced and celebrated but one of them took the wheels for his handcart. Finally they sent a solar powered pump for the well, they sang and danced and celebrated but at some point the button became disloged and fell into the command box. All they had to to was open the box and put the button back in place. They never did. Those are people who do not plan further than the next half hour, as such they will always need help and will never progress.

And after 7 years, this video is more relevant today than it was 7 years ago. Very little changes in Africa.
Ugandan Economist and Author: Elly Twineyo-Kamigusha couldn’t have said it better! When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount, bury the horse and get a living horse. However, in Africa more advanced strategies are often employed, such as; - Buying a stronger whip - Appointing a committee to study the horse - Changing riders - Arranging to visit other countries to see how other cultures ride dead horses. - Lowering the standards so that the dead horse can be included. - Re-classifying the dead horse as "living impaired". - Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse. - Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed. - Providing additional funding to increase dead horse's performance. - Rewriting the expected performance requirement for all horses. - Promoting the dead horse to supervisory position..................

A few years ago, the Europeans built a shower facility and toilets for the military in Congo, at a cost of millions of euros of European taxpayers' money. Two years later:
The showers are a lumber yard. What happened? The soldiers didn't use the toilets, but shat in the shower, which blocked the drain, and nobody wanted to clean it. So they stopped using the showers and toilets and just went somewhere behind a tree, like before. The gift from the Europeans, which cost millions, was turned into a fire wood store.

After the Romans left Britain, the newly uncolonized people pretty much rejected all the advances that the Romans had brought, especially dealing with water transportation, sanitation, and heating. After hundreds of years of such nonsense, they not only adopted what their ancestors had once rejected but became experts at improving and surpassing the technology. I think that experience isn't taking hundreds of years any longer. We have too much global information buzzing around and penetrating everyone's reasoning giving them the knowledge that everyone makes themselves. But thats the truth. And in the end just like this guy, they all realize that they fucked up and that an endless civil war between theire nations wont bring them anywere. If they want to get better thed should accept the was we did it in europe and do the same. Its theire pride that keeps them from doing so and still go theire way and keep building houses made out of mud.... some of these tribes still eat humans there were some videos shown in wich tribal humans ate other humans..... these videos were of course deleted as they are way to crazy for humans to watch I mean that stuff really makes you weird so just dont search it. Best is to improve and get away from the old ways.

yes of course, white people take accountability of the disaster and chaos they created. Do you know that when an african leader to to revolt against white powers (who are still present there) a coup happens and that leader is usually killed ? Some thoughts should stay inside thoughts. Maybe don't blame the Congolese for their reaction to the brutal colonization they suffered and the subsequent Belgian and CIA intelligence fueled Congo crisis, which resulted in the death of Patrice Lumumba, who was actively seeking to repurpose Belgian colonial wealth and infrastructure to heal internecine communal divides.
