Love this new information. Thank you. My mom passed in 2001 after 17 years on dialysis. I wanted to share to say this to give hope for those that may need dialysis. So glad to hear all the new approaches for CKD. MUCH APPRECIATED X
Hello is there a way to have an online consultattion with Dr Ro, i am 34 years old ckd stage 3b with significant proteinurea from Egypt. Thanks James for being a great help for us all 🙏
Mitochondrial Health is a game changer for kidney function as well. Retatratude is a tri agonist GLP1, GIDP, and Glucagon in human trials now that will make ozempic and wegovy obsolete
Those who are on SGLT2 (Empaglifozin) should also be aware of risk of hip or lower limb bone factures n also in some case Risk of UTI or genaital fungal infection..PlZz consult your doctor..
Do you have any thoughts on Brenzavvy? I have this med, but haven't taken it yet as I got freaked out when I read about in their safety information there is increase of lower limb amputations. It is for diabetes but helps the kidneys like Farxiga.
For most countries, they would consider this a normal eGFR. But there’s more to it than just this number, the amount of protein in your urine is very important. If you have none to trace, you most likely will never have any kidney issues for the rest of your life. If you have significant protein in your urine, Your kidney function will continue to decline, but it is still high for your age, and will most likely never become a problem. Your doctor will do regular labs so that you can focus on the trend. Stay active, keep your blood pressure controlled, and enjoy your golden years.
Depends on your age and if you have any protein leakage in your urine. If you're in your 20s, this is low and you need to work with your doctor. If you are in your 60s, this may be normal (as long as no protein in urine). Protein in your urine is the best indicator of future problems - so you want to work with your doctors to resolve any. Great news is the medication is common and affordable!
My creatinine increased from 1.9 to 2.2 but no proteinuria, clear urine report, albumin creatinine ratio is normal. Everything is normal. Only Hb is 11.5. Do i have CKD or CKI. Is it temporary or permanent. ??
Hi i am from India. I have bilateral cortical scarring in kidneys i am on bp medication from past 1 year BP is in control but still laziness gut issues i am having what to do can you guide a little. I am kind of your younger brother please help me out i am only 24.
Hi Nitisha my father also has stage 5 ckd with gfr 7 but his readings are under control except creatinine and urea he doesn't show any symptoms though.. You should consult your nephrologist to give some potassium binders such as ktcheck powder... And suggest you to lower his potassium intake from food.. Potassium is higher in green vegetables so you can give him vegetables after leaching the vegetables that way he will get less potassium
Phosphorus can be managed through diet (avoiding phosphorous additives while limiting natural phosphorous) and taking binders before meals. Your doctor or a renal dietitian can help you there. Phosphorus additives are absorbed nearly. 100%, making them a real problem area for those needing to restrict phosphorus.
Sounds like your doctors haven’t found the right combo of medications to get that dangerously high blood pressure under control. It took my doctors months to find my combo - which you can see at www.dadvicetv.com/blood-pressure-medication
@@robertoenrique6573 You should ask your doctor. Make a chart, taking your blood pressure 3 to 5 times a day for a week or so. My mom's blood pressure is like yours and she takes 50mg. She's 4 stage in a restrict diet, she's 85, no diabetes, she's doing fine considering her CKD stage. What probably hurt her kidneys badly is that she was on hidroclorotiazide for many years, it hurt her whole metabolism very badly, and her kidneys!
36 is low, but what matters more is the trend and if you have any symptoms (symptoms can be managed). You may have no symptoms and it could take another decade or more before they start to show. Living a heart healthy lifestyle and working with your doctor can help slow the progression and you may never have to worry about your kidneys becoming a serious issue.
Modern medicine, as on date, dont have much effective remedy to offer for CKD, stage 4 & 5 except money consuming, time consuming, highly hurting, repetitive, pauper- making, dialysis. ( From experience)
One big challenge is that Dialysis is a money maker and “easy” option for a doctor to choose for a kidney patient. The pharmaceutical industry is making progress and new medications are in development to help us, along with other advancements in the works.
Not sure how you can claim that, when I make an effort every day to answer at least 30 comments across the entire library. While there are nearly a thousand a day, I can’t answer them all, so I try to focus on ones not asking for medical advice or questions I am not qualified to answer (things that a doctor or dietitian should answer). I do this voluntarily and also try to stick to those who appreciate all the work I and my guest voluntarily do. Please refer to your doctor with your questions - he/she is your best source and it is their job to support you.
Great video! Can you also discuss how to prevent calcifications with ckd? Thanks!

So grateful for your channel. I did read about eating very low protein. There were limited choices for food. So glad I can eat protein.
Glad it was helpful!

Will Herrington's Oxford study is a good read.Dapa reduced decline to 0.11mL/min/year.Which is normal kidney aging

And Dr. Ro looks fantastic for his age.
Agree!
