Kid at Christmas for sure!! As a gamer, many will do both. AC has converted a good amount of the community to be interested in the history around the previous installments. There's also a whole subset of gamers who are very into the lore & history of games set in alternate realities so it's almost natural for that group as well. :)
I played Assassin's Creed: Odyssey for fun but I also loved learning about the Ancient Greeks. I have always loved learning about their mythology especially.
They are connected to Hagia Sophia and Istanbul because "Varangians" as eastern nations called them also served as a personal bodyguards to Byzantine (Roman) Emperors.
there are new archealogical finds proving woman (shieldmaidens) played a bigger role in fighting as previously thought, to the point that their burials pointed towards some of them actually leading the army.
At first I found which historical figures were cast as Templars, like Henry Ford for example. That made me look at their actual history and as I read I went very many times "Oh. That's why."

I am still stuck on the Total War series(Rome 2 and Medieval), Stronghold 2 and Company of Heroes(1and2). But its not like everyday but when I have time :) (as you can see I am more a strategy games tipe :D)
@@Essek I was curious as you mentioned Blizzard. My current PC won't do many of the games I would like to play, but it will do WoW with some things turned off & others turned down (my fps is still sad).
its called a hidden blade, like a mini dagger that pulls out its blade when triggered by the finger, used for stealth assassinations or last resort cqc knife, the hidden blade is attached to the bracer disguishing as a normal armour part so it won't be detected as a weapon when entering weapon restricted areas, its a purely fictional it can be easily broken with a single strike with a sword, thats why bayek( first assassin) never use it for combat only for stealth cuts.
I had no idea that the majority of the thralls were taken from now Russian areas. I honestly thought it was mostly other scandinavians, french and british. Though I can see that slavic people would also be taken with their travles down the rivers of eastern europe. As far as I remember being taught, I think the norse culture was such that the women were the ones to be respected in the home. I think the evidence for that being that in graves of women, one would often find keys. Not sure if this has changed in theory or not at this point though.
