    The exhaust is stock and by the looks of it that is total actual miles on the odometer. When you get used to riding that on the track my prediction is that you will buy another for the street. Sweet bikes, good handling, and a surprisingly capable and fun engine.

    Good buy and great move. That's what I started off on, I think it's the best starter bike bar none. A complete GSXR 600 or 750 USD/radial braked front end is a total transformation you will want, you'll want better adjustability and stronger anchors that stay cooler pretty soon when you get better on track. Start looking for a front end now, it does make a huge difference. Enjoy! And get slicker at rev matching downshifts!

    I have a 2004 sv650S track and street bike. Might want to look into a steering damper and stiffer springs and emulator in the forks for support on braking, considering it already has the Penske shock(mine too) it might be done already. Brakes don't need big upgrades on these, stock with lines plus HH pads is fine, very easy to overslow these with too much brake, corner speed is all on the SV650!

    Good choice. I bought a 2001 for the track a few years ago and my only regret is not doing it sooner. Good luck getting it back on the track!

    What a great deal. The penske rear shock and woodcraft rearsets alone are nearly worth what you bought the bike for. I have an 07 650 naked that i like to throw around the track as well. Ive had it for 2 years (1 year on track) and still dont want more bike yet. These are really a hoot to rail on once the suspension is sorted, and they teach you to carry enough corner speed that you can pass dudes on 600s no problem. Once you figure out whats in the front end (spring rates, emulators etc.) and change fluids/tires you're pretty much good to go! I wouldnt worry much about the kickstand and coolant. You need to tie it up to pass tech anyway so its one less thing to worry about. The coolant was probably drained so it doesn't crack the block over the winter since you cant run coolant on the track, only water/water wetter. Your headers are also probably stock as thats how mine look as well. Enjoy!

    Nice one! Actually got a sv650 for myself last week but as street bike and as my first one

  • @thealvaco
    @thealvaco 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Track bikes are often not allowed to have a kickstand or standard coolant. Instead of glycol antifreeze (which is slippery), demineralised water with anti rust stuff is used.
    A brake upgrade with 4 piston calipers is popular, you can buy adapter plates for that. It makes the brake feel so much better. (I did this on my V-strom).
    Have fun!

    Good choice on the 03! That year has a steel sub frame.

  • @rem362

    Congrats to your new bike. It's an awesome one. I ride a 04 as a street bike and it's super fun.
    Are you planning on modding it a bit or will you keep it how it is long term? People get crazy and swap it to a gixer front with r6 brakes which improves the bike quite a lot. Would be cool to see it as a little build series perhaps. Who knows? ;)
    Cheers and enjoy it

    • @HeroRR
      @HeroRR  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! I think for now the plan is just to do the maintenance and get it to where it’s safe and reliable. Next year after I put a few track days into I will reassess what I want to do. If I were to mod it I would do a gsxr front end and brakes like you said but also maybe a power commander exhaust and quick shifter. Oh and a gear indicator of course haha

    Nice. That’s exactly what you need for track days and plus it’s way better than constantly taping your lights and swapping out your coolant for water wetter lol

  • @giostisskylas
    @giostisskylas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The SV650 is a very good choice for getting started with race training. Light and handy is more than a lot of horsepower. The motorcycle is much easier to control than a 1000er with 180 hp. Psychologically, too, this entry is better than starting straight away with a superbike. Everyone is a little jittery about the potential of a ZX10R or BMW S1000RR. This makes you uncomfortable and your driving skills suffer from the tension. And the reward for that prudent start on the race scene comes when you're faster on the 75hp SV650 than the posers on the 200hp bike.
    A book tip: The book "The Upper Half of the Motorcycle: On the Unity of Rider and Machine" by the German author Bernt Spiegel helped me a lot to ride my motorcycle fast. Everything is very well described there, from physics and driver psychology to specific training.

    you made the right choice the sv will help you elevate your skills at the track. get race tech springs with valve emulators but meaning is a track bike they probably did that already just have to check when you replace the fork oil. enjoy your new track bike👍👍

    this reminds me of the trash rebuilt SV1000 I had accidentally bought from a scammer last year. 😅
    No offense by any means to your new track bike, just said trash due to all that needs to be fixed.
    For me I had:
    rusted fuel tank with fuel leak
    replaced odometer with unrealistic mileage,
    bad tyres (with puncture),
    radiator had no fan,
    footpegs + gearshifters were replaced with some ungodly home-made nonsense,
    no mirrors or indicators (a + on track bikes I guess),
    only redeeming feature was the steel brake-lines although the rear master cylinder needed to be replaced because it had barely any brake pressure. Worst part, is after all my attempts to fix it i couldn't even register it because it was a write off and the seller never disclosed it to me with the fake papers.

    now lets be real, you have a LOT of trackbikes already haha, what groups are you signing up with for the end of the season?
    Edit: no coolant = possibly drained water. A lot of folks who race or track often will fill the coolant with water in case they wreck out. Coolant is slippery on track so many organizations will make you run water. If water isnt drained it can rust where it shouldnt. For 1200 you got a bike that is in infinitely better shape than any used street bike youve purchased. Good maintenance history is normal for many trackbikes, more so than the street squids for sure.
