Awesome Will. I love the family photo! Great job getting her the way you prefer, and very nice flying brother! I'm glad you and Earl are enjoying them.
Good bit of flying. Thanks for the tips about getting a C/G that you're happy with and about the right kind of glue to keep her going. ( I always need to add some 'glue ballast' at some point.)
I think floats are a must.. But little snow skiis are more the fashion statement this season.. Thanks for watching and commenting.. I appreciate the support...
I just ordered mine today. It will be #609 R/C Aircraft in my squadron. Yes that many. My house, Garage and the trailers are packed full. My place looks like the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Try to stay as warm as possible. Capt. Morgan ,Bft ,SC.
Nice video, sir! You fly well! I flew my yellow and black UMX WACO today for the first time. It is great fun! I did find that I needed to tune the radio D/R and Expo as this little bird is so responsive. Got about 6 to 7 minutes of flying time (average) per Spektrum 3S-300 battery just doing casual flying. BTW, Gorilla Glue now makes a foam safe glue (White) that is cheap and relatively fast. I've used it on band aids on my other foam planes and it works great! Thanks for the other tips.
She's a super plane. These UMX planes are a blast. Thanks for the tip on the Gorilla Glue for Foam. I gotta test it out. I made several videos of Adhesives a while back and tested the regular Gorilla Clear. Its was ok, but E6000 and a few others were a bit better for Foam to Foam and Foam to wood. Thanks for the comments - Will
NIIIIICE 👌🏻 In the process of building my first biplane from scratch, Hopefully get to maiden it in a couple days wester permitted, Nice flying, love the UMX Waco...
@@SteffenRC Thanks, Yes it's much more rewarding to fly a homemade plane in my opinion, It's a hell of a lot cheaper also lol, Feel free to check out a couple of my builds, nothing fancy but they all fly great, I subbed, Erric ✌🏻
Great little plane William. The yellow seems to be the colour...sorry Color. Might just get one as they have come down by $100 here in OZ to A$240. @ 6:50 I did the same to my umx A-10 & used UHU por
I think these little RC planes are amazing. Fun to fly. But I can't help thinking these micro planes are all we are going to be left with as the hobby is backed into a corner by commercial interests. In the end I do think bigger planes fly better with more presence in the air.
Steve, These planes are amazing, but I sure hope this won't be the only thing available in 5 years. The big 1.5M+ planes are fantastic and they do fly better... I hope we continue to have lots of options.. My only issue is finding the room to store all of them.. :-). - Will
Nice video. I haven't crashed or dropped yet, but thanks for tips on what to look out for and what types of glue to use. I set mine up as per the manual. I would prefer safe on switch B as on my other models. I tried re-assigning from switch "A", but it won't switch to just AS3X. Do you have an idea on this ?
I did finally get it reprogrammed. (The next time I took it flying I fussed and fussed because safe wouldn't work and I re-bound it a couple of times before I finally remembered that I had successfully changed the switch program ! :-)
Hi Will, I noticed exactly this, namely, that it will climb like crazy and when you counter that with down elevator it will climb on inverted. Now, the book suggests that the CG is 38mm +-8 from the leading edge. Where does your Waco balance after adding the nose weight?
@@SteffenRCthanks! I tried exactly this and got CG on 38mm without adding dead weight 😊. And indeed, I could change the trim a bit and now can push on inverted flight - waaay better 👍🏻. Still, it tends to climb when throttling down, but also better than before.
@@alexandernentwig9596 I spoke to some others who have the Waco.. Seems like some of the Yellow ones have an aft CG with stock setup.. Several guys added a 1/4-1/2 oz lead to get it to fly better. Maybe someone was a little heavy on the paint at the factory.. 😂
Hi there looking on getting one of these you are the only video I can find that mentions weight I got a load of nano tech 370mha 3s witch I fly the draco on thay are 10grams more than spectrum 300 3s so thay should do it thank you
Thanks for the review. I'm about to buy one and needing the lipos to go with. Would you say a 450mah 3s is more suitable over the 300mah with the tail heavy situation you experienced? Thanks
I DID crash mine, broke the landing gear ...the fuselage fairing stayed ON the plane, the gear along with broken carbon fiber rods came off. New gear comes with the fairing and the two carbon struts from wheel pant to fuselage BUT in my case, one of my carbon struts broke, and both stayed attached to the center mount. I can't get the glue on the struts to release so that I can install the new ones. Horizon Hobby has been no help. Do you have any suggestion on how to release whatever glue they used to mount all of the carbon fiber struts and support links ?
Do you think i could put a 3s 800mah jst in it? Im not looking for infinite vertical, more-so scale flying. Plus, 800 mah would give it a long flight time. The umx a10 takes a 3s 800mah. The only difference is the connector, i think the a10 uses an ic2 or ic3?
If it fits it will work, except it’s gonna be nose heavy. You could add a little lead to the tail to get CG right. There is enough wing area to handle the weight.
Got to fly one of these today for the first time. What a joy! And a gorgeous plane!
Agreed.. Great little plane.

Thanks Adam. Such a wonderful plane.. Gonna have lots of fun with her.

Thanks for the support. This plane is a blast and getting several in the air together makes for some entertaining flying...
I have had mine 3 weeks now and it's been a blast even with light winds flying on my property good review and flight ☺🛩🛩👍👍
Thanks.. Appreciate the support...
Great video Will. The UMX WACO is such a blast to fly. I need to figure out how to add floats to mine.

This UMX Waco is wonderful, but thats nothing compared to a plane you build yourself. Now thats what its all about. Good luck on your maiden... - Will

You should be able to re-set the switch on Channel Assignment. Give that a look.. I know that the Forward Programming is locked out since its a BNF...

I'm at 38mm with the 3S battery almost on the motor mount.. For me that flies how I like..

That larger battery might help the CG situation that I ran across. I'd rather add a bit more battery vs lead anyday....

I think that could be a solid option for this plane. It can handle the extra weight without issue...
How much extra space in the battery compartment? I can't seem to find the measurements out there.
The battery compartment is about 35mmx50mm..

They may use CA.. But not sure. So, you can try a little CA remover. But test it first.. That EPS foam is easy to melt.. Good luck.. Will

Mmmmmm lights.
You and I know a few folks with beat up Timbers that need to be salvages.. :-)
