One cool thing about a giant degree wheel is you can take and use your hands for very small adjustments so you can creep up on that .500 and get your engine position. Awesome channel John. I think I will always be amazed by what you are working vs how fast you are going. Motivating AF to me.

Haven't even watched the entire video yet but THANK YOU.
This quality of valuable information is more of what I hoped TH-cam would be or I guess more what I had hoped many channels would be or become, a quest to get to a half million views in a day or two has little appeal to me since, IMO, the content is largely sensationalized. Thanks again.

    Great video man thanks.
If you have control of the ads try to put them where you have a pause in the vid. Instead of just mid sentence boom here's an ad. I'm not sure if you have that control, but it's just a thought.

not that I am a expert but a longer bar to turn the crank helps to control jumping past your .050

Appears that cam cog dots may be a tooth off. I would have expected cam to degree in spec at 110 ICL with cog at or close to O mark. It looks like cam had to be advanced almost a whole tooth (10*) to get ICL in spec. Interesting, same as previous owner of belt drive setup since it was locked in the 10* advance position? Doesn't leave you any room to advance cam much more. Next time it's down, advance cam cog 1 tooth (CCW), set to 0 and check ICL degree results. I would expect cog closer to 0 to get ICL at 110* providing more adjustability.

This used belt drive does have a different mark they put on. I bet that is what they did! Good advice, thanks

Inspect the cam lobes. There seems to be an enomoly. Good stuff!

Is Copper wire the best for o ring material for the block?

I use stainless wire with copper head gaskets. I have used copper wire with stock and mls gaskets with ok results in the past.

How much HP & TQ on average is lost when you don't degree the cam? Say a stock bottom end SBC and you buy a off the shelf Comp Cams and install it dot to dot.

Degreeing ensures it it where it is suppose to be. If it’s a tad retarded or advanced, it will change the power band. If it’s a way off, it may or may not crank and will run very bad.

I’m really surprised 😱 he’s running a sleeved block like that ( and totally getting away with it especially at 800+hp etc.) as most of the old timers I’ve met ( and some reading 📖 resources ) always taught me that a sleeved v8 was a junk v8 with the exception to the rule being simi truck/ marine engines designed from the get go for wet sleeves
Being that he’s hard on the I’m starting to wonder why the guys that told me that sleeves in a iron block ( like his SBC or my 440 RB stock wet block as I was told if that needs a sleeve junkyard it or leave it to the numbers matching cars that are trailer queens 👸 that gently idle on cruise at maybe 25 ish mph for maybe a hour at most ) have habit of slipping or cracking and lack of cooling comes from??? ( including some cases of some engines knocking and pinging to death ) As I’m sure that they weren’t joking or lieing to me

Don’t forget Craigslist. Lol. Car guys take care car guys. It’s like a huge family. I’ve never really met too many race car guys I couldn’t get along with for the most part. I hate the lambo/gtr guys thou. Lol. Always snobby and too good for us budget racers
