Reba can sing ANY country song and make it her own. Any thing this woman touches touches turns to GOLD. I love you, Reba. You're my favorite singer of all-time.
I listened to this song on my way to work around 4:00 am on June 12, 2012. I got a text from my brother around 1:pm after I had secured my engines on the train I had brought in to Saint James La. He told me our father had passed away just a little after noon. I’m 168 miles away from home. On the way driving home from my terminal, just about the same area, where I had listened earlier in the morning, the song came on my radio again. Till this day every time I hear it, I choke up. I’m determined to learn it, play it, and sing it.
This song written by Kenny Rogers. After a conversation with Waylon's wife Jesse. But,it applies to so many...after a great career ...that slows down and it's hard to accept ..that your day has pretty much ended. But,it's hard to stop wanting that constant glory from your fans ...
This particular version wasn’t A Kenny Tribute as Reba’s hair is really short from The Forever Love Days. When Kenny actually passed Reba’s hair was a lot longer. It’s all in the details.
Beautiful song😢 always touches my heart. I'll forever sing my favourite songs of Miss Reba's. Most of all I'll forever sing my country favourites. Thank You Grandad for my love of country music. Forever grateful 🙏 I love and Miss You! Sweet dreams, sweet man ❤
actually dolly has a very distinct accent herself. Just like rebas, dolly's adds to anything she sings. they both are wonderful singers in their own right. I like them both personally.
Kenny Rodgers is the song writer and Reba delivers! Love her voice, and her ability to tell the story that is within the notes of the song...beautiful :-)
I've never heard Reba's rendition of Sweet Music Man, until today. I've been looking at all things Kenny Rogers since his passing, and this song says it all. Reba sings it beautifully.
I loved Waylons version.I love Reba's version.I love Kenny's version.Thank you Kenny Rogers for writing it.Its a perfect song written about a Nashville Outsider. An OutLaw.Long live Waylon Jennings.
Love to listen to Reba before l go to work she sings straight from her heart to yours set me up for the day a beautiful lay inside and out stay strong Reba
How am I just hearing this song? It’s absolutely beautiful and Reba has ALWAYS been my favorite country singer. I guess bc my mother loves her so much and has always wanted to see her in concert. They favor a lot especially with their red hair and how they both sing so good. My mother plays the piano and sings at church every Sunday. My mother is my hero and one day hopefully I can buy her some concert tickets to her favorite all time singer ❤🥰. We love you Reba and just know your music has always touched our hearts. My all time favorite song is “The night the lights went out in Ga” I guess bc I live in Ga and little sis (me) don’t miss when she aims her gun😂❤🥰😘
reba really nailed this song it brings tears to my eyes this song is about waylon jennings nobody did things quite like waylon did i have heard kenny rogers sing this song i have heard waylon's version but reba's version is the best just a wonderful verison by the best female country singer of all time
Sing a song sweet music man 'cause I won't be there To hold your hand like I used to, I'm through with you You're a heck of a singer and powerful man but you surround yourself With people who demand so little of you You touched my soul with your beautiful song You even had me singin' along right with you, you said "I need you", then you changed the words and added harmony Then you sang the song you had written for me to someone new Oh, but nobody sings a love song quite like you do Oh, and nobody else can make me sing along Nobody else can make me feel things are right When I know they're wrong, nobody sings a love song quite like you Sing your song sweet music man, travel the world With a six piece band that does for you what you tell 'em to And you try to stay young but the songs are sung To so many people who've all begun came back on you Sing your song sad music man, makin' your living Doing one night stands, they're through with you They don't need you, you're still a heck of a singer but a broken man But you'll keep on lookin' for one last fan to sing to Oh, and nobody sings a love song quite like you do Oh, and nobody else can make me sing along and nobody else Can make me feel things are right when they're wrong with a song Nobody sings a love song quite like you
I always thought this song was beautiful put together with the instruments and vocals of Reba. It’s pretty sad that radio didn’t give this song the air time that I think it should had got. Reba’s songs should got more air play and recognition then what they got. I always try to request her music to be played on local radio stations. Thank you Reba for always having music with a message.
Reba awesome as always! Y listened to Reba everyday when travelling to work! This is how good this song was for me and how much I like Reba McEntire!❤❤
This song is beautiful and when Reba sings it she captures your heart she brings so much pleasure when she sings l try to listen to her every day she lifts my mood so much thanks for posting sending you and hope always
This video is visually devastating ! I can't believe how beautiful it looks . The song is great and so is Reba's singing, but the visual aesthetics are amazing, including Reba .
There is no song, her own or someone else's, that she does not sound amazing on!!Always loved Reba for the person she is,talented, beautiful ( inside & out).A GOD GIVEN Voice she has
The song is so beautiful It touched me it moved me it was very heartfelt There is no other Reba except for you darling You are one of a kind you are unique, most importantly you are loved and you are mine .... forever! Thank you beautiful soul for this song With you always and you can count on me
god bless you reba i love you i remember you doin the star spangled banner at the national finals rodeo at E.K. Gaylord arena many yrs ago ...im from choctaw oklahoma and waylon was my hero growing up...i dressed like him walked like him talked like him..he was THE S++T now i play music for a living in arizona where he lived..and i do many of his songs on my shows and always will R.I.P Brother and thank you reba my Okie sister You Rock
Reba no matter what you sing it is gold. I'm seeing this in 2020. Nevertheless it is as timeless as Kenny wrote it for and he will be forever in hearts as are you! 💋
I think this version is the best I've heard so far, just edging out Dottie West's. Reba's amazing, understated vocals here are just the ticket...She did this so amazingly well. I absolutely adore it.
Dolly! Reba! Tammy!!! Kenny Rogers must have gotten such a thrill hearing all these wonderful singers covering his song!!! “Don’t bother me, I’m listening to Tammy Wynette singing my song!!!”
To me, this is about the best song Reba has done. But a good part of the credit needs to go to whatever musical genius made the background arrangement for her. Without the wonderful dobro accompaniment to her style of singing, and that of the piano as well, this version of the song would not have been nearly so beautiful as it is. Bravo to both of them, and to the musicians playing the background music.
This song was written before 1977, Kenny wrote it while he was still in the First Edition who had disbanded by then. And it's not just about Waylon. That's how Kenny started the song, but in the end, as Kenny has said, the song turned into a song about him as he was trying to remain a 20-something year old, even though he was almost 40 (or as the lyrics go "you try to stay young, but the songs you've sung have all begun to come back on you") This song was a good part of him letting go of the past. As he said himself "I was hearing stories about Waylon, but I was actually talking about myself".
I'm sorry you are wrong. The song was written in 1977. He and Jessi Coulter was on a flight back to Nashville TN from LA. They didn't know each other was gonna be on the flight. They ran into each on the plane switched seats so both of them could sit together. Jessi asked Kenny to write a song for her so she could she sang it to Waylon herself. She told Kenny that she had tried everything to get his attention except music. Maybe that would get his attention. So Kenny said he would and he wrote this song for Jessi. But after he wrote it and listen to it this first time he realized it was more about him. That is exactly the way Kenny Rogers told the story to Bill Anderson on his xm radio show called Bill Anderson visits with the legends. Now the song you are probably thinking of was "You picked a fine time to leave me Lucile". but the hit that really got him into country music was Rubeon James and You picked a fine time to leave me Lucile was the follow up hit
Sounds like your both right in many respects...but I don't believe she asked him to write a song for her. She was expressing her frustration about Waylon's very serious cocaine addiction & how it was neg affecting their marriage. She said within the convo, "But no matter what, he'll always be my sweet music man". When Kenny got to his hotel, he sat down & wrote the song. However, it's quite easy to hear, this beautiful song could easily be about Kenny himself. It's hard to believe his own personal feelings about himself & his own career did not influence the words on the page, if not unconsciously. 💗
Reba can sing ANY country song and make it her own. Any thing this woman touches touches turns to GOLD. I love you, Reba. You're my favorite singer of all-time.
Reba is a beautiful woman and a country legend ❤❤❤

WOW what a gorgeous version of this song. Some of Reba's best songs are like this...soft, subtle and elegant. Just beautiful.
I totally agree
Absolutely Beautiful.
Great cover !!
Rick Laitinen-Patel I’m about to comment that..then I red this..I agree with you.♥️
You nailed it, buddy.
Found a note in the jewelry box...played Endless Love. Asked to play this....for you my friend.
now, the sweet music man has gone. Rebba sings this as if a tribute to Kenny, very touching. Thanks Rebba. So long Kenny, we will miss you a lot🎙🌷🙏
It's sad the Gambler is gone. 💔
@@WizardPandora yes it is😢
Reba has powerful vocals.
@@suzykorir5829 Yes she is🎙🎶👍
This particular version wasn’t A Kenny Tribute as
Reba’s hair is really short from The Forever Love Days.
When Kenny actually passed Reba’s hair was a lot longer.

Life for many of us mimic the words of this song. Whether we are famous or otherwise.

Happy Birthday Waylon. RIP Hoss
actually dolly has a very distinct accent herself. Just like rebas, dolly's adds to anything she sings. they both are wonderful singers in their own right. I like them both personally.
Reba had said she tried to mimic dolly in her signing
I love both of them
Kenny Rodgers is the song writer and Reba delivers! Love her voice, and her ability to tell the story that is within the notes of the song...beautiful :-)
Spot on, and nicely put. She delivers above and beyond.
That's 'Rogers', no d.
He actually originally recorded it back in the 70s for his album Daytime Friends.
Jesse told him the song on a plane ride
I've never heard Reba's rendition of Sweet Music Man, until today. I've been looking at all things Kenny Rogers since his passing, and this song says it all. Reba sings it beautifully.
Her voice has always had my heart. This song is no different.
RIP, sweet music man. Waylon Arnold Jennings, June 15, 1937 - February 13, 2002
I absolutely love this arrangement.
When Reba sings a ballad her tone and skill is hauntingly beautiful 🙏

Sing a song sweet music man 'cause I won't be there
To hold your hand like I used to, I'm through with you
You're a heck of a singer and powerful man but you surround yourself
With people who demand so little of you
You touched my soul with your beautiful song
You even had me singin' along right with you, you said
"I need you", then you changed the words and added harmony
Then you sang the song you had written for me to someone new
Oh, but nobody sings a love song quite like you do
Oh, and nobody else can make me sing along
Nobody else can make me feel things are right
When I know they're wrong, nobody sings a love song quite like you
Sing your song sweet music man, travel the world
With a six piece band that does for you what you tell 'em to
And you try to stay young but the songs are sung
To so many people who've all begun came back on you
Sing your song sad music man, makin' your living
Doing one night stands, they're through with you
They don't need you, you're still a heck of a singer but a broken man
But you'll keep on lookin' for one last fan to sing to
Oh, and nobody sings a love song quite like you do
Oh, and nobody else can make me sing along and nobody else
Can make me feel things are right when they're wrong with a song
Nobody sings a love song quite like you
Can't help but think of Elvis whenever I hear this song.

She is the epitome of elegance, this version is ..... well, words fail me.
