I was also happy that the two queens of oldies country sing this together 😊😊😊😊
This song is mature as hell. My first husband's mistress is one of my best friends now. after I left him when I was 7 months pregnant with his child because he was messing with her. She got two kids by him and he abandoned them. I realized it wasn't her it was him all along. She didn't owe me fidelity, he did. Also, she didn't know he was married. We had long talks and I found out all the lies he told her. Our kids love each other very much. We made sure to put our kids above all. 14 years later I met the man of my dreams and he treasures me and I treasure him and the special bond we share together for 5 years now. The woman who I thought was the cause of all my pain when I was so young and naive, was just another victim of our ex. I love her as my little sister. She was very young when he started messing with her. I'm there for her as she has been there for me. She would watch my son in order for me to finish college. I would watch her babies when she had any type of emergency. She is like blood to me.
Wow that's an incredible story!
I enjoy when two betrayed women can bond through the realization that the man with whom the loyalty was promised is the one who deserves the blame. May God bless you for the maturity and forgiveness you've shown this woman, and may you find a lifetime of happiness with your new & improved man. He sounds wonderful.
you're a beautiful person 💕💕
@@michellepertle10 Valid Point. If women would join to make the commitment to the sisterhood to never be inappropriate with a taken man, this world dilemma would basically be solved... but unfortunately, we human beings can become selfish to our own needs. Personally, I have never *knowingly* been with a man who was spoken for by another, but men (and women) are quite capable to deceive not just their partners but their prospects. I'm not sure whether the original commentator meant the other woman was her best friend at the time the infidelity started or is her best friend now. Regardless, I was commenting that I appreciated and respected her maturity, as too often, the other woman is blamed and the cheating partner gets depicted as the victim. Ugh! I understand all too well the pain of being cheated on, and I am sorry, Michelle, that this happened to you as well. I completely agree with you that both are to blame... but I enjoy when women come together to fully realize the manipulative, narcissistic ways of certain cheaters. Wishing you the best as you move forward... 🙂
I never understand why people always judge "the other woman" more harshly when it is the husband who betrays his wife. I think it is a lot easier to be the "mistress" because you are in love and you don't know this other person, and it is probably easy to convince yourself that everyone will be happier if it goes your way. BUT the husband is the one betraying his wife and kids. The mistress did not promise "until death do us part", he did. He is the one who has to face his wife everyday knowing he is cheating on her. That is way worse.
All I have to say is FINAllY!!!
How it started: 1973, Dolly begs Jolene with the "flaming locks of auburn hair" not to take her man.
How it's going: 2021, Reba with the "flaming locks of auburn hair" now begs Dolly not to take her man.
Straight up savage, Dolly. :D
Amazing

I bawled through it. Two absolute Legends.
Would have been nice if it was an original instead of Dolly Parton taking Linda Davis’s part.
Two of the greatest icons ever together....
Not only 2 of the biggest female stars in country music history. Two of the most respected and sweetest.
Icons of heart, elder cuddles of pure adorableness, like kittens in the form of people.

You can tell there is a chemistry and mutual respect between them
Forget Trump and Biden. I'm voting Dolly/Reba 2024, the only ones worthy of uniting our nation ✌️

Dolly was asked once why she didn't run for president. In true Dolly fashion, she responded, "I think there's been enough boobs in the White House."
Reba and Dolly need to collab and do more songs together the way their voices blend so well
Totally agree 🔥🔥

Yes they should.
Blend together horribly.

These Legends singing together is EVERYTHING!!!
This song was ALWAYS meant to be sung from a mature woman’s viewpoint. These are not lyrics for some broken hearted young girl, this is a song for women and the fact these two Grand Diva QUEENS of music proves it. This song was always waiting for these two Grand Dames of country music to come together and put the soul to the words
Cheating affairs, infidelity, human needs, desires and jealousy happen at all ages. It doesn't take 3-year-old to have sexual "experience" for them to know that the person of their affection is interested in someone else. This could even be said for a kid wanting attention from their Dad, when all the Dad does is give attention to the Mom and visa versa. We learn these relationship dynamics from day one when we are born. Do not be ageist or ignorant.
@@Stretesky lm
You've described what my 25 year old mind struggled to put into words. I don't even like this genre of music. I prefer Nicki and Taylor, but the Reba Show was on at my job this morning so I clicked this video. I've listened to RnB/PoP songs with the same scenario as this but the older generation just has a certain quality...you said it best. I don't have the right words. I really hope more young people get a chance to listen to this song.
@@Stretesky how about you stop trying to have concept or depth and understanding of something you know nothing about other than what you read in a book. Sit down little girl, the grownups are talking…
@@user-s2249 thank you!! 😌😌
Dolly's voice gave me chills when she first came in. She gave an entirely different vibe to the meaning of this song. I always understood it to mean the two women knew they were obsessing over a man that didn't deserve them and how they danced around the truth that they were fooling themselves into thinking they needed him. One from the wife's perspective, one from the other woman's perspective. And it still means that, but the fierceness and fire of Reba's voice and the soft, sweet melody of Dolly's voice is so powerful. The Queens of country music making a legendary collaboration. A gift from God, surely...
Wow….. If God condones cheating then maybe it’s not a bad thing I haven’t read the Bible yet.
Couldn't have said it better ☺️
No man is worth it... LoL
@@anonanon8974 Spoiler Alert: He don't (NOT a typo) condone adultery.
I love both Reba and Dolly, but Loretta Lynn is the undisputed Queen of country music.
Two legends proving why they earned the titles and that they still have it.
👏
Amen!❤
Heck yea!
Definitely! 👑
How true!!
To be honest this duo is amazing... Reba feels and sounds like a woman that wants to scream while Dolly feels and sounds like a woman that wants to cry. Both valid emotions when loving a cheater.
It's like country's "The Boy is Mine" and it sounds amazing with these two! I need more Reba/Dolly duets.
Yes indeed😀🥰
But way before The Boy is Mine. Reba and Linda Davis did it originally. Check it out. The first time I remember hearing it was at her concert when I was in single digits. It was absolutely amazing!
Love that song!
We ALL need more Reba/Dolly duets...
I actually thought this when I first heard this song
i just love how dolly's voice tells a story. and wow reba's voice.. just never gets old.
Reba’s power vocals and Dolly’s whisper hits you in the heart
Not to mention Rebas acting and body language she’s such an under rated gem.
These two sing and act like they've experienced this exact situation first hand. Masterful
@REBA McEntire hello!😃 love the white pantsuit too. Very sophisticated and classy👍
Men you love to hate them
Thats because they have. Hence the song Joleen.
That’s because they have. Both have been cheated on harshly in their past. Dolly had written “Jolene” after a fiery red head took the man she had been seeing from her, but has since been happily married to her current hubby of 50 years. Reba has had a couple of marriages that ended in divorce, so she’s experienced her fair share of rocky relationships. Both are quite familiar with heartbreak.
@@shmittyworman jolene was inspired by a little girl not infidelity
Both you ladies immediately drop him like a rock and go on a cruise together. You will have a blast and meet a bunch of new dudes. You can each have your own.
Dolly sounds like she’s been singing along to this from its original release, to the point of perfect harmony and intentions of brilliantly conveying the messages within. They are a dynamic duet!!

Dolly Parton is a national treasure and should be protected at all costs.
So is Reba. She's younger but a treasure none the less!

Reba too
As should Reba
The person that made the comment that Dolly’s voice hasn’t held up as well as Reba needs to understand,Dolly is 10 years older than Reba and believe me that makes a huge difference in the tones and ability to hold notes . Dolly is doing great for 78 years old.
So true. They need to watch & listen to Dolly singing with Miley Cyrus. She can still belt out songs.
Edit: Plus it takes ALOT of control sing softly & like your having a conversation. It's a sign of a professional.
This is not a song for Dolly.
Amen. I'd let a truck run over me if I could sing 1% as well as Dolly does. I'm 69 & have developed a tremor & my voice shakes. Plus Dolly & Reba have completely different voices. But boy do they sound wonderful together!
It’s much harder to hold onto and maintain a higher voice as we age as well.
A lot of people don't realize but all the older women in my life have told me that while 40-50 was a breeze, 50-60 was like a truck hit them in comparison. Each decade after that seems to go faster. Both these women still sing better than anyone else their age. They are LEGENDS for a reason. Even if Dolly has lost some of her voice, she's still better than the people who made those comments, probably!
Dolly’s harmonies are unmatched! And Reba’s voice is still stunning to this day. I love these women so much!!!

As much as I like this version. I still have a soft spot for Reba and Linda Davis’ version. That is the version I grew up on.
This version, the original, the one with Kelly, they all have a slightly different feel to them, and Reba acts it out each and every time. They are all excellent. There really needs to be more duets for women in music.
I think Kelly is the best , then Linda. Reba and Kelly guinely love each and have so much fun. Little did they know what father and son shits they had both married.
These two women paved the way for so many country artists. Such times when you get rare duets like this, makes the old heart swell and your face smile and maybe a tear in the eye.
So true, and for many people not just musical artists..Both powerful, shows to be a beautiful person, takes more than a spotlight, anyone can be kind, follow your dreams with hard work, rise above and beyond a moment , their stories are more than their individual legacy, they are another blessing 🙏
I've always loved this piece. Take notes, kiddos... this is what true writing craft and artistic delivery sounds like. Fabulous arrangement.
Plenty of artists deliver art in their own way.
Don’t downplay other artists just because you’re not a fan of their style of ‘art’.

Oh my gosh. This is by far one of the best duets the way they feed off each other. This was so good. And miss Dolly's voice when she talk-sings!
Hello 👋Helene
Hello Helen! What a nice and sparkling smile. I wouldn't trade that smile for anything, how are you doing?
I have a little story that I pieced together with different songs, and artists:
Jolene- Dolly parton
A woman begs for the other woman not to take her beloved man from her, basically begging on her knees for the other woman not to take him.
Does he love you?-Reba McEntire
Then the two argue over who the man loves more, even admitting the times that he goes out and cheats.
Stay-Sugarland
The first woman is now begging the man, not the other woman, to stay with her, to spend more time in her bed and not the other womans.
That girl-Jennifer nettles
The other girl eventually comes to her senses and calls up the first girl, and explains how she didn't intend to take her man, and how most of the cheating was done because the man wanted it.
Mamas broken heart-Maranda Lambert
The first woman is broken hearted and basically manic on how the man she trusted and loved was such a snake in disguise, she plans revenge.
Two black Cadillacs-Carrie Underwood
After much consideration the two women get together and decide to end this toxic love triangle, and stage the murder of the man, both of them going to his funeral to seal the deal.
I’m in love with this 😍😍😍
If only we came together like this against bad apples
Sweety its Jolene.

Two beautiful women with beautiful voices singing a beautiful song! Loved this so much!💖
The Country Music Gods have parted the clouds and said, “Here I impart onto you a gift”
The clip at the end emanates the queens they are. No one can ever replace. I love them
I love the original, the cover with Kelly, but these iconic country singers together has to be my favorite. Their voices blend so well together. So excited to finally see them on a track just the two of them!
The original was performed with Reba and Linda Davis. She also performed this song with Kelly, as you mentioned, which was excellent as well. All three versions are exceptional.
@@robinc713 It was Reba and Lee Ann Womack.
@@tytaylor8762 the original was with Linda Davis
@@erinsue5 You are correct, for some reason I got her and Lee Ann mixed up. My bad
Summer was saying she liked the original, which was with Linda Davis, but Reba also did a version years later with Kelly Clarkson. You can find it on TH-cam, as well. Then there's this version. :) Reba's dusted this three times it would appear.
I love to hear these two ladies sing. They are very special.
Oh, my God! Voices of those famose elder women making me cry 😢 It's so unbelievebly powerful and touching the heart. To sing like this in age of 70- 80- it's miracle. They make a big masterclass for young singers 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hello there 👋 how are you doing today? My name is Eugene 😊
@@eugenehughes6345 I am fine, thank you, sir. Have a nice day 😊
@@nadiamordvinkin6310 that’s good to know. Where are you from?
Reba only 66years old
🌍✌ This collaboration was WAY overdue Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton, two musical icons with real country voices. A must love! And they look good!
Hello there 👋 how are you doing today? My name is Eugene 😊
What a powerful song, telling the story of the wife and the mistress from each viewpoint. Powerful and moving. So well sung ladies.

Hello 👋Annette
Thanks for the love and support you show me as a loyal fan of my music 🎶
Hello, season's greeting's from me to you and your family.
How are you today?
I had finished watching the old version with Reba and Linda Davis and noticed this version in the side bar. To watch this version I was amazed by Dolly's subtle yet mesmerizing take on her character. Linda was fabulous in the first one and had the pipes to match Reba note for note. To me, Dolly's take is that she is resigned to the fact she will probably lose in the end. And Dolly's ad lib of certain harmonies is a tribute to her masterful ability of tone. Both versions are true country and two of the best duets of all time.
This version gives me goosebumps! Ya'll are amazing singing together. Much love to both of you queens of country music!
