I love the sentiments of most of the ladies who commented here. My wife, after hearing the song and seeing the video for the first time back in the mid 80's, said basically the same thing. "If that was you, better make sure the plane ticket is one way."
I definitely don’t believe the sentiment. When whoever’s in New England’s through with you... Stay there!! But, If anyone can make it sound feasible..It’s Reba 💖
She was in the phases of what ended in a divorce from her first husband at this time, and it shows in her song selections for this album (and the 2 that followed). I have always looked at the album as a whole as somewhat of a "concept" album, whether that was her intention or not ;0)
In the 80s and 90s big hair was the thing to do. Pretty sure in southern states the motto was "the higher the hair the closer to god". Big hair and shoulder pads!
I must be going through a sentimental phase (how awful and embarrassing!) but this video brought tears to my eyes when I saw it. Reba can tell a story through her music like no-one else.
I just love her voice!! She draws you in thg he story every time. She puts a spell on you and you feel all her emotions that radiates from her voice. You feel the love and the warmth in every note! She is amazing! I love you Reba, I really do.
Me too it doesn't matter what she's singing i absolutely love her voice ❤ her personality, and love everything about her. She's amazing talented class act,
I remember in 1986 when most people were starting to get HBO and this video would be playing between the movies. The good old days. It was the first time I saw Reba but I had heard the song "Somebody Should Leave" on the radio a couple of years before and thought Reba could sing the hell out of a song. "Whoever's in New England" cemented that believe.
Hello 2022,I know there is quite a lot of music genre going on but this is the kind of music you'll never understand & its such a shame! the old country music.
This song came out three months before I was born and I actually hadn't heard it much despite the fact that I have been a lifelong country music fan. I saw Reba post the 37th anniversary of this album on Facebook so I decided to take a listen. I'm now in love with this song! This has to be one of Reba's best next to Does He Love You and Fancy! Also, as a transportation buff I am REALLY impressed with the Eastern Airlines jet behind Reba when she is singing in the terminal! They folded a couple of years later so you don't see much about them in modern popular culture.
Reba had to agree to pay half of the cost of this video because women were not expected to do what Reba has done and honestly the oh girl had a struggle on her hands, but she damn sure showed them that she could do a video just as good as a man could or better. She took both the video and song to number one. What a Lady !!

You spend an awful lot of time in Massachusetts Seems like every other week you've got a meeting waiting there Business must be booming or could something else Be moving in the air up there You say that it's important for our future An executive on his way up has got to play the part And each time duty calls you got to give it all You've got with all your heart When whoever's in New England's through with you And Boston finds better things to do You know it's not too late 'cause you'll always have a place to come back to When whoever's in New England's through with you I hear the winter time up north can last forever And I've been told it's beautiful to see this time of year They say the snow can blind you till the world you left behind Just disappears I hear I packed your bags and left them in the hallway But before you leave again there's just one thing you outta know When the icy wind blows through you remember that it's me Who feels the cold most of all When whoever's in New England's through with you And Boston finds better things to do You know it's not too late and you'll always have a place to come back to When whoever's in New England's through with you
I'm crying. Maybe it's the time of day, maybe it's the classic country progression, maybe because it's the first time I'm hearing this song about New England where I live, but I think it's this great singer's heatfelt voice and song that's hitting me right in the gut.
Joe Mangine u pretty keyboard tough huh I don't understand y people just have to talk shit knowing damn well it wouldn't be said face to face if it makes u feel tough go with it
Joe Mangine She has a symmetrical face, smooth unblemished skin, bright blue eyes, button nose, thick red hair, perfectly skinny body with average hips and bust. I'm not sure how thin lips can negate all other parts of which hold up to normal standards of beauty. Also, some people like thin lips. Oh yeah and personality makes someone attractive as well; as fairy tale as that sounds, you can't deny it. Comparing Reba to Rosie O'Donnell is straight up delusional.
It makes a good song sad so many woman have to go through there men have double life have wife at home mistress on side saddest love story was lady Diana
This red headed Female has to be the best girl when it comes to cutting through the heart of a man. I'll always Love her voice & her human image. I pray God is taking care of her always. She's a wonderful person. From a guy up here in New England.
30 years ago this month, Whoever's In New England was a number 1 hit! I never really listened to it before but now it's one of my favorites. Love the music. My mom and my dad are 30 years older than me so they were my age when this song was a huge hit. lol.
Reba has such a perfect voice for narrating the passing moments in a movie that show time moving. It's like time traveling. Better than a delorian I'm sure!!!!
heard this song when i was about 7 or 8 and then forgot about it and lately been searching for it but couldn't remember what it was called just knew it was about New England. sooooooo glad i stumbled across this video :D
As a New Englander, I think this is an awesome song...sad but great nonetheless....great video too.. Seeing that little white dog next to those packed bags made me want to cry!
I lived up here in New England for about 5 years. I moved up for work and school. I was driving home after pulling an all nighter. This song came up on the radio. It dam near made me cry. It was like an angle, calling me down south again. To come home dixi land. All, I do is work and study here. I remembered having friends and relationships down south. Despite all the good thing new England has to offer and being beautiful this time of year. The south is my home. Now excuse me, I have to book a flight down to Nashville for next week, one of my home towns.
I vaguely remember hearing this in 1986 when it was first released. I had listened to Kenny Rogers several years before, but 1985 and 1986 brought some Country songs that were absolute classics. I started listening to Dan Seals, John Conlee, and Reba. It wasn't until about 1995 that I bought my first Reba album. I wish Reba would revert to those times in the 1980s and early 1990s. And rest in peace, Dan Seals, we will miss you and the song "Everything That Glitters Is Not Gold".
Hello👋 Kristi. How are you doing? Hope you’re fine. I’m Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
I like the song but I dn't like the fact that a woman would wait around for a man who has his penis in someone else for a while!! DISGUSTING!! MAKING US WOMAN LOOK LIKE WE ARE PUSH OVERS. NOT IN TODAY'S TIME!!! LOL
You can't help but love Reba and this song....As a former Bostonian, this video is so funny...the airport segment was filmed at the old Eastern Air Lines "Terminal A" at Logan. Reba sweetie, you WERE in New England....Boston...Love the song
This gives me chills up my spine. A perfectly-produced and perfectly-sung slow Country ballad. Great lyrics, too. Everything in combination, gives an experience for which there are no words.

Good for you 👍👍👍
You spend an awful lot of time in Massachusetts
Seems like every other week you've got a meeting waiting there
Business must be booming or could something else
Be moving in the air up there
You say that it's important for our future
An executive on his way up has got to play the part
And each time duty calls you got to give it all
You've got with all your heart
When whoever's in New England's through with you
And Boston finds better things to do
You know it's not too late 'cause you'll always have a place to come back to
When whoever's in New England's through with you
I hear the winter time up north can last forever
And I've been told it's beautiful to see this time of year
They say the snow can blind you till the world you left behind
Just disappears I hear
I packed your bags and left them in the hallway
But before you leave again there's just one thing you outta know
When the icy wind blows through you remember that it's me
Who feels the cold most of all
When whoever's in New England's through with you
And Boston finds better things to do
You know it's not too late and you'll always have a place to come back to
When whoever's in New England's through with you
The Lords love is the last I need to feel.
I'm crying. Maybe it's the time of day, maybe it's the classic country progression, maybe because it's the first time I'm hearing this song about New England where I live, but I think it's this great singer's heatfelt voice and song that's hitting me right in the gut.
Rick Umali maybe it's because of a snowflake? Quick, go get color book and crayons and destress
She awesome in so many ways gets more beautiful with age
My favorite Reba song! She's amazing!
Hello 👋🏼 BethyKable
This red headed Female has to be the best girl when it comes to cutting through the heart of a man. I'll always Love her voice & her human image. I pray God is taking care of her always. She's a wonderful person. From a guy up here in New England.
She didn't deserve what she went through in her own marriage a very kind woman. So talented
This song, while beautiful, has always made me very sad.
Music just doesn’t compare to the 70’s and 80’s. Those were the best years. Lyrics had meaning and could be understood.
30 years ago this month, Whoever's In New England was a number 1 hit! I never really listened to it before but now it's one of my favorites. Love the music. My mom and my dad are 30 years older than me so they were my age when this song was a huge hit. lol.
From the gambler I could tell a lot of famous people here good movie love Reba keep singing you are great god bless you
It's the truest kind of love - and often the saddest - that persists even when the one who love doesn't love you back.
It tells a story, so sad today's music doesn't.
But boy does it hurt💔
Yes it hurts when they don't love you back
Reba has such a perfect voice for narrating the passing moments in a movie that show time moving. It's like time traveling. Better than a delorian I'm sure!!!!
Im so glad my momma got me hooked on Reba at the age of 8-9... I absolutely LOVE her. She's my #1 female Country artist!
Hello Traci
How old is we now Trace?

Hi Barbara hope you're okay?
Saw here here in NY early 90’s these videos do NO justice to just how great her voice is
There's a lot of beautiful voices in classic country music.
This song is just a reminder.
Yeah…Naw.. that would never happen to me now in 2024. If you got somebody else, she can have you! Great song though. Love Reba!
Not for what, She's a genuine person who has a really big heart. I'd be proud to have her as a friend.

As a New Englander, I think this is an awesome song...sad but great nonetheless....great video too..
Seeing that little white dog next to those packed bags made me want to cry!
Greatest female voice of all time imo....
Don't forget Karen.
Karen Carpenter...(?)
Wow - even before the 1st chorus, you get chills down your spine!
Still watching this video in 2021!! This song is the definition of a classic!! It never gets old!!
Early Reba and she looks even better now. That voice!!! I love this video. Thanks for posting.
Hi Wanda hope you're okay?
My mom had a love for this women my mother isn't with us anymore but when I listen to this music I think about our trips together listening to reba!

beautiful, just beautiful!!😭
I love the story line in this video, great storytelling!
I like the song but I dn't like the fact that a woman would wait around for a man who has his penis in someone else for a while!! DISGUSTING!! MAKING US WOMAN LOOK LIKE WE ARE PUSH OVERS. NOT IN TODAY'S TIME!!! LOL
MONI so true! Sometimes you are just better off alone.💔
You can't help but love Reba and this song....As a former Bostonian, this video is so funny...the airport segment was filmed at the old Eastern Air Lines "Terminal A" at Logan. Reba sweetie, you WERE in New England....Boston...Love the song
This song always makes me cry.
Hi Grace hope you're okay?
This gives me chills up my spine. A perfectly-produced and perfectly-sung slow Country ballad. Great lyrics, too. Everything in combination, gives an experience for which there are no words.
Reba is a proud okie girl just like me her voice is very beautiful and her songs are also are beautiful too
