    The books from Blair Enns and R.J.Baker talking on the value based pricing were actually mind blowing to me. Thanks for reinforcing that with other tips specific to designers!

    I've been learning new skills in webflow and figma for 2 years and still not had one client. I'm currently trying to replicate and improve an awesome website I found that won numerous awards. Its going well so far. Maybe I need to advertise now. It was all about never thinking I was good enuf for work as I'm self taught. But my 12yr old girl is bigger than my fears. 💪🏼 thank you for the incredibly insightful video. They give me confidence to make a start and try to find clients. 😊

      You will definitely find clients soon. Usually when things don't work in the beginning, it is for something great to come later. All the best to you.

      Sorry, but what do you mean by "mabye I need to advertise now"?
      Of course you need to advertise in some way or form, clients will not just magically appear by you copying an award-winning website in Webflow lol..
      A good start for webflow espcially would be:
      1) Getting all the webflow certificates
      2) Becoming webflow expert/pro (i.e ge tthe badge from them)
      3) sign up for fiver, upwork and especially heep (heep is a platform for webflow epsecially)
      4) get your own portfolio-website running and focus on SEO for your niche
      5) buy ads for instagram other social media accounts your using for your own agency, goodle ads and target it on your website (if it's well-made people will hire you)
      6) for europe I use linkedin and get in contact with potential clients that I know have potential for me to fix in their online presence
      6a) I usually do 5-10 FREE hero-redesigns per month (takes me 2-5 hours per month) and send it to those people from linkedin ->y they usually convert to some work in the future, because they know you're going out of your way to help them)
      7) do other cold-calling and approaches (atleast 10 per day) - I was working in sales for 6 years and usually a good ratio for 100 cold calls would be 10 interested people and finally 1 client
      8) MOST IMPORTANT FOR ME:
      Tell every fucking soul out there, what you're doing, show them your work, show them that you are passionate and tell them you still got some capacity to work.
      Those are the ways out of the top of my head and that I've used myself. I'm lucky that now I can just live off of my clients that I retained during the time and sometimes get some new leads through my website, or client recommendations so on and so forth. But you can't be delusional here, especially when you have a daughter whom you need to provide for. You gotta be out there EVERYDAY and search for those clients, they won't just magically find you (except if your SEO is good ;))
      Wish you all the best mate

      @@hellobont One more thing that just came to my mind and could help you lift off:
      I've recently met a guy who made the switch from being a graphic designer to full-time web designer and his approach was to write to agencies and offer them to take off those small clients that they don't have time for and offer them a 10/90 split. But he made clear that it's gotta be a win-win for both sides and you can't come off as super needy. I was seeing a video from Flux academy regarding this topic aswell where he showed one such mail that was super well-written. I was trying to find it fro you, but couldn't...
      Maybe you can search for yourself. But there really are countless ways to get some clients nowadays, I'm sure you can do it! :)

    I'm more of an illustrator/concept-artist (also worked at Mediamonks) but this knowledge applies to almost all creative fields. I price artwork towards clients particular budgets, try to gauge it a little from their own site/work etc. It's pretty hard to narrow down on one particular style or niche though as people need all kinds of stuff nowadays, that's what i struggle with the most, the focus. Refreshing to hear all this so thank you, and will definitely check out more of your vids!

      That's right! Focusing is the most difficult decision you will do in your business. You need to change your mindset from "sure, I can do that too" to "are you a fit for what I do?". It's a whole different way of doing business. Glad you resonate with the content!

    My average rate per website for SMB is $6-7k. In Poland, where I live and sell websites, it's like 10 times the minimum wage.

    Im from Latvia. I have been doing this thing as a hobby and actual worked for an agency for years. But i had 0 experience in sales, working for this local agency was hell, so i decided to quit the whole thing and got a job in design but in a whole different industry.
    Some years passed, and i desire freedom. I have accumulated some real estate with the job i have + a loan, before the real estate crash in Europe, but i was starting to experience inflation. My wage was the same, but the prices around me were sky rocketing.
    So i decided to peruse web design, branding, ad creation once again. Re educated myself for a year doing free work and fun stuff. For the past half year I've been getting clients for web design and ad creation witch has provided me with extra income for a fraction of my time and it feels amazing and addicting.
    So my rate at this time is pretty low, but i try to ask for around 800EUR + tax(around 43%) if the gig is doable in a month or less. That covers my living expenses, but i still have my jobs.
    Im trying to develop this as a stable income so i can quit my underpaid job, but its quite a pickle, i don't want to lose my real estate.

      @hellobont  ปีที่แล้ว

      Amazing, thanks for sharing your story! If you're working full-time already, this extra work doesn't take you a month full-time but less. You're very close to making it full-time. I would try doubling your price on your next project if you feel bold enough.

    Prices you stated were so much lower than I expected to hear I was honestly shocked. I’m now not sure if you’re denominating in US dollars or some other currency. But in USD the idea of making $1,000 monthly is poverty.

    • @hellobont
      @hellobont  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I know, I was honestly thinking of most people out there that look at my videos, many from countries with extremely low salaries. In Argentina where I live, the minimum wage now is US$200. You would be surprised at how many people earn below US$1K a month. The principles are the same for any earning level though.

    • @taunado
      @taunado 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hellobont Yea, in South Africa, for a full-time designer and Webflow developer with 3 years experience, the salary can be less than $1k. Absolute madness.

    thanks for the info but I have a question, you said 1,000 for a website in 3 sizes but is this also with development or just design ?? with tax ? I'm living in Germany and her 19% tax on top

    • @hellobont
      @hellobont  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man! Not sure what you mean with "a website with 3 sizes". But taxes are part of your expenses and they should be contemplated in your price like I explained in the video. And yes, just design.

  • @Webrisernl

    ..what do you think of charging a monthly fee? Not only for maintanance but also for the website it self, like one fee per month all in package?

    • @hellobont
      @hellobont  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! I didn't get this: "like one fee per month all in package". Can you rephrase? You mean treating your services like a subscription service?

    • @Webrisernl
      @Webrisernl 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hellobont hi, let me explain... normaly for example I charge 2000 for a website on front.. but would it not be a good idea to charge like 50 euro every month.. that way its more likely to close the sale as people dont have a big investment

    • @hellobont
      @hellobont  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Webrisernl gotcha! You can totally break up the payment into smaller ones. Just don't over do it. A $2000 website at $50 per month would be 40 payments and almost 2 years. You want to find a sweet spot where your clients are able to make it happen, but it's also creating enough financial pressure that they take it seriously. Let me know if that answers your question :)

      Jokes on you. Real businesses hire professionals to solve problems.
      Do you think a busy CEO/business owner or corporation would sit down to learn how to use an AI tool?
      No, they hire smart professionals who can help them reach their goals. It could be to get more customers, help create awareness, improve conversions, etc.
      Google, Apple, and other large and small start-ups invest in their business by hiring Designers to improve, innovate & fix problems.
      Even service-based businesses like Architect, Plumbers, and Accountants invest in their business and do not wait around to gloat. If they do, competitors are there to take their place. I'm sure there's a reason you use Netflix or any modern streaming platform (if you do), but not Blockbuster.
      So far there are humans on this planet, Designers will always innovate because to err is human and Designers will always be there to ease the pain.
      Between, AI is a tool to amplify our abilities as humans.
      In summary, We don't sell websites, we solve business problems.
