      I’m new to digital photography, is the 27mm lens not the same thing as a 15-45mm lens? Or is it a special adapter needed?

    I bought the Xt 30ii a few months ago. It is my very first camera and I am a very inexperienced photographer. I chose this camera for the dials. I think it will help me learn and understand the exposure settings better. And second I still have so much to learn about taking a photo that I don’t want to learn editing at the same time. So I love the film simulations I can choose and just shoot raw And jpeg. This camera is small enough for me to take it out anywhere, which means I am practicing more.

    • @PaulTakesPhotos

      Excellent choice especially as a first camera. Try over time to shoot in M mode (manual) so you control iso, shutter and aperture. What is your biggest challenge at the moment when it comes to photography

    I bought the XT30ii on my last trip to Taiwan, too :) I actually came to Taiwan with my Lumix S5..but carrying this camera after a while I was very annoyed by the size and weight of this camera. In the past I had a Fujifilm Camera already and I knew, their quality is very good. So I checked the shops and bought this camera and I couldnt be happier. It was half the weight of the Lumix Camera. Now I can travel with a light and powerful package.

    Totally agree. I’m a Fuji camera lovers since years, started with X-E1, the X-T1, X-E2, X-T2, X-T3 the X-H2s as I’m doing more and more videos.
    I still have X-T2 and X-T3 but was looking for a small setup totally oriented toward street photography.
    I bought, 2 months ago, a used X-T30 II and I use it with the 27mm f2.8 pancake and the 18mm f2 with its lovely squared lens hood. Sometimes even with the 33mm f1.4 even if setup becomes more cumbersome.
    It’s for me the perfect setup for my daily camera, the one I always have with me. So yes I totally agree with you.
    Just one note regarding one of your statements, X-T30 II is not equivalent of X-T4, you don’t have IBIS (but it’s not that important for street photography) and videos are only in 8 bits with far less video modes (4K 60fps for instance)

    I bought the XT30II a few months ago. I was stocked in to Fujifilm thanks to the X100v but I did not really want to be restricted to a fixed lens. I chose the XT30II over the XE4 simply because of the looks and the extra dial for that retro feel. It reminds me of my first 2nd hand 35mm camera in the early 80’s. I’m loving the Fujifilm system and it’s simulations are amazing 👍

      I don't mind fixed lenses on cameras but i also at times, like you, that it is posses a restriction and x100v if you add a lens hood it becomes very much bulky and difficult to carry in your pocket

    THIS should be the camera that should get all the hype, instead for the X-E4!
    Thanks for the video man! I was tired of waiting for availibility of the x100v and now with the latest word wide cancellation of all orders of the X-E4 in late April, which I was directly impacted by and I should have gotten my unit in June and now 1.5 months after officially ordering one, they just cancelled my order! WTF?! So I just went for the X-T30ii instead and I think it really is the "better X-E4" in every regard! Not a pain in the butt stripped down button layout and weird haptics. This one has everything the X-E4 has but actually better and it is really almost the same size.

    • @PaulTakesPhotos
      @PaulTakesPhotos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree that the XT30ii is very much underrated. The XT30ii is for the photography and the XS-10 for the hybrid and videographer.

      The problem is with a prime you have no stabilisation. Given that Fuji now in 2024 with the high end kit 16-50 f/2.8 are signalling that the future is IBIS (having said previously it was impossible!) I would avoid the unstabilised bodies now unless you want to commit to legacy lenses for shorter focal length zooms. Hopefully they will not ditch OIS in long focal lengths as Olympus so often did relying on IBIS for many lenses. The sensor with my EM10 II with the 75-300mm sounded like it would fly out of the camera frantically trying to hold things steady at maximum zoom.

    I am considering this camera, but I have a question! I know that the xt30-ii now can record 1080P@240FPS, instead of just @120FPS like the original xt30. I also know that the original xt30 had an additional 1.29x crop at 120FPS, but did they remove the additional crop on the newer xt30-ii at 120FPS? Im sure at 240FPS it still has the crop, but I would hope that at 120FPS it wouldn't??

    X-t30ii is the best value fujifilm camera, particularly when found used, but I had to sell mine and come back to the Xpro2, it's so feature packed, it's distracting. A lot of the times, I find the focus moving around as I compose my shot as the control nub is so easy to bump. It's not solid as the xpro2's. I thought, I'd get used to it over time but it only proved to be really annoying. Also I cannot for the life of me, negotiate what the heck does the front command dial do? is it aperture? is it ISO? On my X-T10, it can be clearly defined, front dial ISO, back dial aperture. Very simple.
    I thought I'd love having all the film simulations, but I ended up getting distracted by trying out the recipes. I wasn't focusing with photography anymore. I ended up letting it go and going back to the xpro 2 with abysmal battery life because I pay more attention to the photo I'm taking there, rather than trying to maximize all the features.

    Thank you for the review/video. What are the limitations of this camera, If you primarily do nature/wildlife photography? I know it does not have ibis, but you can use lenses that have stabilization. Not sure if Fuji cameras support dual stabilization (body & lenses), for those complaining that it does not have ibis.If I may ask what made you choose this camera over the XS - 20 as it’s roughly $300 difference in price with the lens? I suspect it may have been the retro look. I’m really torn between three cameras, the xt30ii, OM-5 and the XS-20. I really like the small form factor of the OM-5 /mft and the true value with the lenses in that system. The picture quality is very similar to that of Fujifilm that it looks more natural and vibrant. Would really like to know your thoughts.

    • @PaulTakesPhotos
      @PaulTakesPhotos  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      thanks for sharing your thoughts and asking for a second opinion. You are the 2nd person asking for wild life this week.
      Depends a lot with what lens you shoot, but I am assuming superzoom. (100-400 or 70-300)
      In my opinion the lack of IBIS can be easily solved by a tripod, It is more the AF for wildlife on Fujifilm I am not too sure about and one other thing: it is not weather sealed. Depending on where you are based that can become an issue over time.
      OM systems have probably the best IBIS and a great range of wildlife lenses. I use the Sony A7iii & 200-600 for Wildlife, mainly because of the dual stab, excellent AF-C. I would recommend you to try to rent a fujfilm XT4/XT30ii and the OM with a lens. That way you get some field time and will be able to make an informed decision. Hope this was helpful

I was looking at the X-T4 or possibly the X-T3 or the X-S10 but this spec wise looked far better value, when it arrives keep fingers crossed will sel, my much loved Sony NEX 7 which says something about how highly I rate Fuji.
    Nice thing will now hopefully be only one lot of glass to buy rather tahn two makes.
    The X-T30 ii on ppaer looks like a no brainer over pretty much every other new csc.

    • @PaulTakesPhotos
      @PaulTakesPhotos  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Both are great cameras. I'd suggest you look at what lenses you want to use first (street, landscape, birding, portrait etc).
      With regards to the cameras both are great but do have a slightly different target audience. XT30(Ii) is made for travel/street photography (obviously portrait ect can be done) it is light, easy to carry, easy to use menus, decent battery life and decent autofocus and on top of it you get the film sims.
      The A7iI is a full frame camera, with fantastic autofocus, menus take a bit of time, video capabilities are excellent, battery life is so so and the camera is more hybrid users focussed.
      I'd suggest you try to rent both cameras so you can feel the camera... It remains personal camera handling. One thing about the A7Ii if you have budget the a used A7III is a better option.
