      Sadly the camera is not an action camera when it comes to build quality. The used prices of this model are crazy at the moment. But if you, like me, search and scout carefully there is always a good deal to be had somewhere

    The only thing I did not like was the latency of the EVF by comparison to later X models. Otherwise it's perfect especially the lower pixel sensor making the images much more easier the manage in post.

      The EVF is a bit dated from a technology point of view. This camera has a "low" mp count which is great in post and more importantly the image quality is excellent

I’m considering getting this model as I’m looking for something versatile for various uses, including everyday photography, concert photography, and personal development. Given my current budget constraints, I’m planning to start by purchasing the camera body and a good, versatile lens separately. I’m looking for a lens that can handle a range of situations, such as cover photography for artists, documenting music video shoots, thematic events, as well as „basic” photos for social media and videos for TikTok :) Do you have any recommendations for a lens that would work well with the TX-30II and be a solid starting point for expanding my experience over time? Canon are great cameras but indeed it doesn't allow 3rd party lenses and in general the cameras are a bit bulky. Fuji cameras are smaller and lighter, but their auto focus is average, great lens range. Lumix is a great alternative, small, smaller sensor and smaller lenses. Sold one, re-bought, and then lost. Wah. Will buy another I guess. Not seeing them for less the 700 in EU at the moment. You're right about the focus hunting. I must say, as an artistic-minded photographer like yourself, I found the X-70 to be really great. I Look at those pictures and say yeah, that's what I wanted. The siren song of Ricoh calls. Maybe the lost one will turn up, but I doubt it. Probably left on the table at a cafe.

    • @PaulTakesPhotos
      @PaulTakesPhotos 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh such heartbreak donating the x70 to the table. Ricoh GR series are great, especially the image quality. That said the xtrans III sensor is probably one of the best Fujifilm sensors in terms of colour science and also sharpness. I hope Fuji will realise that the x70m2 would be a camera with an even broader reach than the x100 series.

    I LOVE my x70. It has to be one of my most used cameras. Beautiful sensor and glass in a small package. It’s still great and has probably kept me from buying a. X100 series camera because of its size and image quality. I use mine mainly for documenting family life so battery life isn’t too much of an issue for e but I can see how it would drain quickly if you gave it a real hammering. I take a spare battery and it’s never been a problem. Thanks for the video!

    • @PaulTakesPhotos
      @PaulTakesPhotos 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I do think the x70 hits that sweet spot perfectly, every day, family camera. The focal length of 18.5mm makes it so versatile and the battery life for me is okay as long as you stick to shooting (not tweaking menus). The x100 series are a different beast and the focal length is less of a sweet spot. And yeah it is over hyped.

  • @brompterdam

    I used to have one and I regret selling it but not because it is a great camera, but because Fujifilm don't make them anymore. I printed one personal photobook out of it. I recently bought a mint Olympus PEN-F ( €575 ) and Olympus 17mm f1.8 ( €200 ) and it totally replaced my thoughts of owning back the X70 as well as plan of buying a used X100V. Ricoh GR II/III is its competitor and now taken over that niche market. Still a nice camera, thanks for the video!

    • @PaulTakesPhotos

      MFT cameras are great aren't they and still affordable on the used market. X100V I used to own as a successor to my x100 and it didn't agree with me. Love my smaller cameras, but the X100V/VI are not it. Like the x70 also because of the focal length. Ricoh GRIIIx is awesome but a lot pricier. Lumix GX80/GX85 with the pancakes (14mm/20mm) are awesome too.

    I bought a GRiiix and am not loving it. I miss using an EVF. Of course I knew that prior to purchasing this camera. Maybe I’ll buy a cheap plastic Chinese VF. I do love the B&W jpegs. Of course. The size is a major benefit of the camera. I have had a hard time setting the camera up. It is way too dark. Altering the exposure via shutter speed or aperture is difficult. I am not having a pleasant experience with the GRiiix. Too bad. I wanted to love this camera. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

      Had the same in the beginning. Give yourself some time to get to know it. For exposure i have it on my lcd screen. That way i can see together with the histogram how i need to expose. Another little thing is your exposure metering. Use highlight metered or spot and underexpose by -2/3, -1. ND filter on Auto. If any questions let me know

    I have two Fuji cameras that have been converted to infra-red (720nm), an X-T1 and an X-T3. I incorrectly assumed that the T3 would have sharper photos due to its higher pixel count. Long story short, I was wrong. The converted X-T1 is every bit as sharp as the T3 and in some instances even better. Live and learn.
