Following retirement, after a lifetime of shooting with Nikon, Contax, Hasselblad and a 4x5 Wisner, I sold it all and bought my Fujifilm X-Pro2. I use 35mm, 23mm and 16mm lenses. I lost my interest in using telephoto lenses several years ago. At any rate, I absolutely love the X-Pro2. Easier to haul around than my previous kits. In fact, it is quite liberating. I don't even have a zoom lens, preferring to let my legs to the "zooming." Meanwhile, I have been a Framelines member for a year or so and appreciate all you guys do. Cheers! Onward and upward
The biggest selling point of the X-Pro2 and X-Pro3 is that they’re the only interchangeable-lens cameras with an OVF. Aside from these, only the fixed-lens X100 series cameras offer an OVF. An OVF is especially useful for shooting in low light with flash because it lets you compose and focus based on what you can see naturally, rather than relying on an EVF that can appear too dark in low-light settings.
Oh man, I’ve had my xPro-2 for about 8 months and it’s already become my absolute favorite! My paid client work is still done with my Sony kit, but when I create for myself or reach for an EDC camp, it’s always my xPro-2!
@@frame-lines Wow! Thanks a million! I'm so glad to hear that. If there's any chance to collaborate with you someday, let me know. It'd be thrilling for me.
Never owned an x-pro, but the funny parallel I’ve noticed is that I seem to prefer the photos out of the x100f more than the v and vi. Something about the older sensors!
The magnification for the 50mm equivalent focal length was one the best things about the X-Pro2. A 50mm indeed does feel wide enough when one isn’t dealing with a narrow depth of field. I wish i never sold mine and, maybe after this video I’ll pick it up again.
I was using an X-Pro2 while I waited for Leica to make a digital rangefinder that I liked. When Leica finally produced the Leica M10, I bought one. I used a 21/35/90mm lens kit on my M10. However, I really prefer using my X-Pro2 with 16/23/56mm lenses.
@@frame-lines At first, I tried using adapted 55mm f/3.5 macro and the 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor lenses on my X-Pro1 and X-Pro2 bodies for shooting half-length portraits, head & shoulder portraits, photojournalism, documentary, and street photography. These lenses delivered great image quality but manual focusing was too slow and too inaccurate for my tastes. The auto focus Fujinon 56mm f/1.2 provided the image quality and operational ergonomics that I needed.
OMG! I've been owning X-Pro2 for the past few years. And this is my most favourite camera I've ever had (after Canon, Sony of various kinds APS-C & Full Frame). This one is just phenomenal in terms of image quality, rendition, and picture size (24mpx is just that sweet spot I need). And I switched to JPGs only - because the colours are so wonderful that I don't really need RAW. I have it paired with Fujinon 35/1.4 - it has to be paired with this lens in order to reveal the full potential of its X-Trans sensors gen2. I shoot almost daily also with my medium format GFX50R and to be honest... I prefer the images from X-Pro2 - they are more organic, softer. Not sterile like on GFX system. It's true what "they say" - X-Trans sensors gen1&2 are the most beautiful in Fujifilm history.
This is such a beautiful camera. I also have the xt2, which produces the same results, but it feels different. Technically the better camera, but it doesn't give you the same feeling as the x-pro2. The biggest difference is the pricing. It's the fight between heart and head😉
It's the loveliest block of vintage cheddar ever made! It feels like a slimmed down brick to me, but in the nicest possible way. ;-) I have several other Fuji cameras (X-T5, X-H1, X-M1) that are all marvellous for the particular uses I put them to ... but the X-Pro2 is always the one that beckons me to pick it up and go for a walk. Wow this autumn 🍁 colors coming out great and so pleasing with this sensor .. definitely xtrans 3 sensor is quite holding to this modern time ..By the way are this all raw photos or with custom film simulation?
Never managed to find a good deal on an X-Pro2 but did get the 3 Xmas 2022 and it's barely left my hand. Even with the Q2 in my bag I seem to always opt for the X-Pro3 with the 18mm f/2, so much so I'm questioning why I'm keeping the Q2, all goes back to Samuel Lintaro's video where he complains about the WB, as someone who shoots 99% jpeg it's been a dealbreaker. As usual great video guys, sorry for the waffling! :D
It really is the best of the x-pros. And the best of the OVF Fuji’s, if 23mm isn’t your desert island focal length. When they discontinued it, I had to immediately buy a second one. (hard to justify at the time, but no regrets now) XF 35f2 on one XF 18f2 (no hood) on the other. OVF is perfect for these focal lengths, at the two magnifications available. I was inspired when I saw David Hurn sporting two x-pros (possibly x-pro1s possibly 2s) with these two fixed focal length attached to each. (on youtube doc film).
35mm f2 and similar lenses were really built for the X-Pro2 - hence why they taper off to leave ample viewing space in the OVF. The 35mm 1.4 was released alongside the X-Pro1.
One thing i would say about the battery life, ditch the fuji charger and get the Nitecore FX1 charger, i found it much better and my batteries last longer now,
Love mine. Wouldnt sell it despite having a xt5/x100Vi. You should check out the grips you can get for them. Improves the handling even more for the larger hands.
Purchased my first X-Pro-2 in 2017. Loved it... at first. Just never got used to the fiddly ISO/Shutter Speed combo-dial. Tried setting the Shutter Speed on "A", but I hated that even more. Someone suggested Auto-ISO, but being a "purist", that was a no-go. So I sold it and got a Canon R6... and I hated it. So off I went to KEH looking for a trade, and what do they have?... An X-Pro-2 special edition (mint) in grey with matching 23 f/2. Got it plus a 14 /f2.8 and 35 f/2, even swap. I've found peace with Auto ISO, and I'm loving the X-Pro-2 and my photography again.
The logic is Fuji develops a new sensor. Then they place the sensor in different bodies. You then get to select the body form that appeals to you. In addition, the XPRO and X100 bodies have the special EVF so many photographers love. It costs more to manufacture. Don’t like the EVF try another body style like the XE line. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
I have and love the X-Pro2. I recommend that you check out the Lens Mate thumbgrip specifically made for this camera. It is rather pricey, but after using it, you will not be able to NOT use it... it improves the ergonomics dramatically.
I just saw the thumbnail and was thinking, which camera is so fun? and then its the Xpro2 (of course). I moved from XH-1 to X100V, then sold it and bought an Xpro2 graphite edition with the 23mm f2, and I arrived. I love the way it looks, I love the size, the JPEGs if I dont want to bother editing. Xpro-2 and a fix is everything you need for street/candid stuff in my opinion.
I bought my X-Pro2 brand new back in 2019. Had absolutely no interest in the X-Pro 3. It’s still my go-to camera with the Fujicrons. A joy to pick up and use. The tactile experience is as good as the images it takes.
@@frame-lines Oh and BTW I picked mine up from Fujifilm direct just after the launch of the X-Pro3 when they were clearing down stock of the X-Pro2. Cost me just £600 body only. It's nice to see that I apparently bought an appreciating asset that I also appreciate for its aesthetics, the image-making experience and capabilities
what's with autofocus? my x-t3 is either broken again or it's my 18-55 lens which used to have much more decent AF but now it's barely usable (I'm blaming firmware update but idk for sure)
I also picked up an X-Pro2 this year and I really feel like it might be Fuji's best camera, the epitome of their design philosophy and the perfect blending of style and function. I tried out a Nikon ZF recently and shockingly its autofocus missed more street shots than my X-Pro2??
X-Pro 2 is such a great camera. I've owned the 2 and the 3 multiple time at that point. Never had the chance to try the 40MP BSI CMOS sensor from the XT-5. Do you see a huge difference in files quality when compairing with the xpro ?
I couldn’t agree more. Sold all my Fuji stuff a year ago. Went Leica all the way for personal work. I’ve used all X-Pros, all X-Ts (up to 5) and most X-Hs and GFXs. Yet, the X-Pro2 is the only Fuji I miss every now and then. Can’t believe how Fuji screwed up it’s release calendar and model line-up. Few tips for the X-Pro4 (should that ever come). Use the 26MP sensor and the bigger battery, IBIS would be nice. Drop all video stuff. Just a fixed LCD or the one of the X100V/VI. Also use that ISO/SS dial. Re-implement the dual mag OVF. The OVF and LCD in the X-Pro3 were such a mistake. Just a 3.69MP EVF is fine. Lose the D-Pad (X-E4-style) and get a better joy-stick. That’s it. As for lenses. For a one-lens kit, use the 35/f2. For a two-lens kit the 23/f2 and 50/f2 are great and a three lens kit is the 16/f2.8, the 35/f2 and the 50/f2. That’s all you need for a great street set.
@@frame-lines Yes, I did combined wit the X-Pro1, X-T1 and X-T2. AF is slow and a bit loud, but the lens has character. It’s pretty sharp in the centre, but gets softer towards the edges and corners. It also suffers from CA and vignetting, but easy to correct. It renders nicely and is a touch warmer than the newer Fuji lenses. The 35/f1.4 has a nice transition to out-of-focus and softer bokeh than the newer lenses. The 35/f2 and the 33/f1.4 are sharper, faster to focus, easier to handle, but also lack a bit character. The 33/f1.4 has nice bokeh for a 33mm, but it’s a bit harsher and more defined compared to the old lens.
@@frame-linesGreat video Josh as always. Concerning the 35mm lenses, I firstly used the 35 1.4 and never really loved the lens. It was too noisy, AF was really bad on my copy wiht a lot of missed shots and I personally not loved the colors. I switched to 35 f2, it is a real little gem, but I was missing the 1.4 and the image quality. I upgraded to the 33 14 and I am really happy now, it is the a super lens along wiht my 23 1.4 LM.
@@frame-lines Had the same question - but can't find any "bellows sling" in the web. Also Bellroy doesn't have that bag in program... Could you tell us wich model it is?
I bought my first FujiFilm camera last week and after some research finally decided on the X-Pro2.. Only got my first lens for it today so haven’t really gotten to try it properly yet.. Maybe tomorrow.. I have not gotten my phone to connect to the camera wifi yet.. Always get a notification saying “unable to connect”.. Any tips anyone? The phone is an iPhone 16 pro max… Anyway, cannot wait to start taking pictures with this beauty!
Just got rid of X-Pro2 for a Leica Q (again); now missing the x-pro 🤦♂️. Damn it where will it all end……. Bankrupt 😂. Now need a Q3 43. I’ll start working on the missus 🙄🙄
What took you so long on the XPRO2? It's my main camera for years, never selling it and I always carry 2 extra back up battery for all day photography with 3,000 shot memory capacity. I use the EVF 95% of the time on my left eye, it just feels so natural to use this camera. I carry and use both a 23mm for indoor and landscape and the cheap 50-200mm WR lens for outdoor street and landscape zoom; so easy to get reach and great shots and still not so big. My wish list for a future camera , is this same Xpro2 body with 60Mp+ or 100Mp+ preferably. Knowing Fuji they won't.
What is it about confirmation bias? I find it hard to resist watching videos about the cameras that I own... The X-Pro2 is wonderful. I bought mine in 2016.
You will have to wait. The XPRO2 is a cult camera. The price may never come down to your price range. Either you accept that or you never pull the trigger. While you are awaiting the price drop or a bargain to fall into your hands you are missing out on the XPRO experience. Consider purchasing the XPRO at this price level. If you don’t like the XPRO performance or experience, sell it. There will be little to no loss in the price. It is so easy for me to spend other people’s money. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
It truly is a wonderful camera. I just hate that its getting so much hype and attention... these prices man. They also just keep getting harder and harder to find.
Maybe they are so hard to find because those that are drawn to this camera are reluctant to sell it. This also relates to its price. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
One of my needless wants is any X-Pro really. My little X20 has proved to be an investment also. But obviously I am not buying anything for profit. I never sell anything anyway 🙄🤣🤣👍📸
I got this camera a year ago for 5000 NOK (about 350 GBP). They've gone up av bit in price now. I won't be selling mine. It will follow me to my grave.

The biggest selling point of the X-Pro2 and X-Pro3 is that they’re the only interchangeable-lens cameras with an OVF. Aside from these, only the fixed-lens X100 series cameras offer an OVF. Oh really - I will deffo check that out, thank you
Love mine. Wouldnt sell it despite having a xt5/x100Vi. You should check out the grips you can get for them. Improves the handling even more for the larger hands.
Yes I have a used one on the way from MPB! Arrives tomorrow
Hmm on MPB the cheapes one is 909 Eur! And they start at 1024 Eur. Crazy for such an old camera, but I guess it must be good 🙂
I had both the x-pro 3 and x-pro 2 and really regretted upgrading to the x-pro 3
Can you articulate why the regret?
Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Haha love it
No way I did the same 😅 I bought one last week and I’m shooting photos every day with it. Always in my bag
haha love it
It’s the new gear effect, you take more pictures 😂
This camera is good and its insane considering its half the price of an x-e4! The pro 4 will probably be 2000 bucks so the prices will never go down.
It’s a great camera. The prices now are very high for sure
thanks for the effort and sharing. i am an appreciative subscriber. i use the X-T1 and X-T2 and i cannot see the logic in the Xpro2. ymmv. thumbs up.

I have and love the X-Pro2. I recommend that you check out the Lens Mate thumbgrip specifically made for this camera. It is rather pricey, but after using it, you will not be able to NOT use it... it improves the ergonomics dramatically.
I’ll definitely check that out thank you ☺️
16 and 24 megapixel sensors are IMHO the best that Fuji ever produced for X series cameras.
Those sensors are lovely yeah
I love mine. ❤
Jealous of the graphite edition, tried quite hard to find one but no joy
I bought my X-Pro2 brand new back in 2019. Had absolutely no interest in the X-Pro 3. It’s still my go-to camera with the Fujicrons. A joy to pick up and use. The tactile experience is as good as the images it takes.
Love that - cheers!
How would you say it handles compared with the X100 series? Thanks for the video, Josh - nice one.
I guess it's super similar, just lots more options with lenses. I would probably prefer an X100 if I didnt love changing lenses so much
Do you use only the ovf or also the evf ? If you had to choose one lens for this camera which did you prefer till now the 23 or the 35mm ?
I mainly only use the OVF tbh... and if I had to chose, I genuinely dont think I could.. sorry 😅
Wow I love the colors. What film sim did you use on these? Or did you shoot raw?
Raw for these! Cheers
what's with autofocus? my x-t3 is either broken again or it's my 18-55 lens which used to have much more decent AF but now it's barely usable (I'm blaming firmware update but idk for sure)
Works great for me
And here I am, recently bought an X100S and quite frustrated as to why I sold it in 2021.
the struggle is real
I also picked up an X-Pro2 this year and I really feel like it might be Fuji's best camera, the epitome of their design philosophy and the perfect blending of style and function. I tried out a Nikon ZF recently and shockingly its autofocus missed more street shots than my X-Pro2??
haha yeah I have had zero issues with the AF - just leave it on single point, single mode all the time, works a treat
X-Pro 2 is such a great camera. I've owned the 2 and the 3 multiple time at that point. Never had the chance to try the 40MP BSI CMOS sensor from the XT-5. Do you see a huge difference in files quality when compairing with the xpro ?
yeah there is a noticeable jump in detail and the new film sims on the XT5 are great, I love nostalgic neg.
Josh, what recipe(s) do you use?
Nice one - I have the same set up but with the 33mm 1.4... I've wanted to sell it but never do. When are the photowalks happening?
ha that's a great lens - the photowalks are all publicized on the patreon / discord
Sold most of my gear a few weeks ago and went with an X-Pro 2 myself. Paid $1000 for it and that’s the cheapest I could find. Love the camera though.
Worth it I think

Ha great shout - have you used the 35mm 1.4? I’m keen to give that a go..
Couldn't agree more with everything you've said.
Earlier this year i’ve got lucky to have new old stock xpro2 (my 2nd time purchase after last year owned 2nd hand xpro2) and will not gonna sell it ❤
good call
Pairing with some manual lens can say that it's poor man leica. That's shuttle sounds is just awesome
All about the shutter sound
I have the special edition. Made entirely from penicillin and elastic bands.
what
Very helpful video! thank you! also may I ask which messenger bag you have? I've been restlessly searching for one for quite some time.. thanks again!
Ah yes it’s the bellows sling, cheers 💛🙌
@@frame-lines Had the same question - but can't find any "bellows sling" in the web. Also Bellroy doesn't have that bag in program... Could you tell us wich model it is?
Found it - its the bellroy "Venture Sling 6L"
@@jensik100 Thank you so much
I bought my first FujiFilm camera last week and after some research finally decided on the X-Pro2.. Only got my first lens for it today so haven’t really gotten to try it properly yet.. Maybe tomorrow.. I have not gotten my phone to connect to the camera wifi yet.. Always get a notification saying “unable to connect”.. Any tips anyone? The phone is an iPhone 16 pro max…
Anyway, cannot wait to start taking pictures with this beauty!
Just got rid of X-Pro2 for a Leica Q (again); now missing the x-pro 🤦♂️. Damn it where will it all end……. Bankrupt 😂. Now need a Q3 43. I’ll start working on the missus 🙄🙄
Haha oh dear sorry Jonathan - this video won’t help
🤣🤣🤦♂️
nice, I got XT-5, for me no need to buy another camera. Good camera tho
Yes the XT5 is great
What took you so long on the XPRO2? It's my main camera for years, never selling it and I always carry 2 extra back up battery for all day photography with 3,000 shot memory capacity. I use the EVF 95% of the time on my left eye, it just feels so natural to use this camera. I carry and use both a 23mm for indoor and landscape and the cheap 50-200mm WR lens for outdoor street and landscape zoom; so easy to get reach and great shots and still not so big. My wish list for a future camera , is this same Xpro2 body with 60Mp+ or 100Mp+ preferably. Knowing Fuji they won't.
haha yeah I have no idea how this took me so long
What is it about confirmation bias? I find it hard to resist watching videos about the cameras that I own... The X-Pro2 is wonderful. I bought mine in 2016.
Haha I love that
I always wanted an x-pro2 since around 2018, but wanted to wait for the used prices to go down. Still waiting. 😂
I think you might be waiting a while...
It is so easy for me to spend other people’s money.

such a great camera, i would love to have one, but it's still freaking expensive 😥
Yeah it is pricey now…
It truly is a wonderful camera. I just hate that its getting so much hype and attention... these prices man. They also just keep getting harder and harder to find.
Maybe they are so hard to find because those that are drawn to this camera are reluctant to sell it. This also relates to its price.
Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
lol 😆 😅😊 0:11
X-Pro 2 is timeless, the X-Pro 3 is misunderstood, Fuji should come out with a camera with no LCD Screen like the Leica D.
Haha I would love that - good shout
I love my X-Pro 3.
That was a bargain !
