    Looks like this would have been a great 3D printer 3-4 years ago for the average consumer and a decent low budget school printer 2 years ago. It is cool to see how fast the standard for 3D printing is evolving to demand more and more features. Flashforge has the right idea selling a printer in an enclosure but the enclosure probably costs them a lot in material and labor to make. They have a lot to catch up to stay relevant let alone stand out from their old product line.

    Just a note: The filament should be crossed to avoid the feed problem you were talking about. In other words, the left spool should feed the right extruder, and the right spool should feed the left extruder.

    It’s just a rebadged old creator. Flashforge is good actually. I have a finder and love it. But a couple corrections. The dual printing could be improved by using PrusaSlicer or IdeaMaker. IdeaMaker has lots of tools for ooze control of the unused nozzle. It jumps aside and allows it to cool and heat and purge off to the side in a purge block.
    Lastly, you can use many slicers. This printer uses a melzie board with sailfish firmware. Simplify3D, IdeaMaker and PrusaSlicer can slice for this printer.

      Build size is noticeably larger. I love mine! Picked up a broken one for 200, bought an $8 Thermocouple controller chip that was fried by the last owner and its good to go!

    I am not too keen on Flashforge having bought some of their PLA that was wound like what can only be described as a rats nest and got snagged 3/4 through a sixteen-hour print, after that, I can't get anything to print before the filament gets trapped in the windings and then cooks the filament in the nozzle and blocks it up

  • @AndrewAHayes
    @AndrewAHayes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Oh dear, considering this is a ready-built printer you would think that the included print files would come out good, no tool included to remove the print from the bed, the raft won't separate from the print, the print has lots of noise in all axis.
    dual colour prints are covered in oozed out filament from the inactive nozzle, all in all, it's hard to find anything good to say about this printer's print quality.
    It's 2020 and most manufacturers have switched to 32-bit boards and silent drivers which are cheaper than the 8-bit variety, but not Flashforge.
    Why on earth they have not retracted the filament from the inactive nozzle when in dual print mode is beyond me, they had 2 chances to include this, once in the firmware and again in the slicing of the included print file.
    All the simple errors in this printer are either a result of an error which someone has failed to address or they don't care, Im leaning towards the latter.

      The wall obviously does not work well, why they went with this when the purge and wipe method works well is beyond me

      I’ve got the original Creator Pro and S3D is far better at doing dual colour prints on this printer. You can also add or use a tower instead to help.

    a general question to 3d printing: do I need to relevel the bed after every print?
    I‘ve printed a few things on different days. And without releveling the printer I‘ve had always a corner that didn‘t stick to the bed.
    I‘m using a ender 3 v2 bed temp: 60 and nozzle temp: 210

    • @platinumstar2722
      @platinumstar2722 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you sure the bed level is good try to use glue stick and but some in the bed and this should solve the problem I have the same printer(ender 3 V2) and this work fine to me but after that will be hard to remove the thing you printed

    5-year old tech, there are better options out there these days. This printer is similar in many respects to my old Wanhao 4S (since replaced with an Artillery Sidewinder X1 and a Creality CR-6 SE). I could never go back to hearing whining stepper motors again lol.

      Daniel .Power someone doesn’t know how to use the new cura feature. Why pay more to print in two colors when you can do it now with one and that feature is only gonna get better. So why pay more to do it? It’s not core xy it’s not completely enclosed no auto bed leveling the touchscreen is tiny that heat bed wiring is garbage. No filament sensor. I was being nice by only mentioning the very odd print dimensions. But of course someone trolls. The fact is you can spend less and get more. I’d much rather buy a good scanner than this

    • @Bajicoy
      @Bajicoy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LTMoore-yy1lm does the new cura feature let people download more print volume like downloading RAM? Maybe next time lead with your opinion of color mixing, IDEX, or MMU. Hard to tell with your psychic awakening and your interest in comparing this to a scanner. May as well compare cars and refridgerators.
      So long as your first or second thought is print volume, you will always be a print volume simp. Just learn to criticize printers better.

    • @LTMoore-yy1lm
      @LTMoore-yy1lm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel .Power how come only you didn’t get what I was saying but the others that liked the post do? Because you’re one of those “I’ve been printing for years” kind of person that doesn’t allow others to have an opinion when it does affect you at all. Using the word simp doesn’t mean you’re right just more noticeably stupid. No human with more than a few brain cells uses that word in every situation. Probably some old divorced lonely guy and it’s sad. You clearly knew enough to rant on my post but you don’t know anything more. Print volume is a factor. If it isn’t there wouldn’t be different sizes.

      No need to fight lol, this printer is pretty interesting, i mean it hasn’t got the large build volume but some people really don’t need that. Everyone has different opinions and we all should just respect that. I kinda like this printer but it sounds pretty loud which can be annoying but on the other hand it looks rigid and sturdy, just my opinion tho, have a great day all!
