I’ll share a water hack that has served me well. When you empty a canning jar, clean it, fill it with water put the lid and band back on and put it back in the pantry. It takes up no more space than the filled jar but it gives you water in cases like this. Happy painting ❤️❤️❤️
I have been doing this for years! I’m convinced it saved my family when in 2021 Texas froze over and everyone lost electricity. The city water pipes broke, and my pipes broke too.
At 75, this is the first person that makes me want to be 30 again. I was building a house, hanging sheetrock, putting on a roof and raising three kids. Living in a travel trailer on 5 acres. Amazing times even though I’ve never been one to look back. 😅😊Thank you God for a great life. 🙏
Same here. I'm 57, and she has me baking bread!! When I want to give up a task, I hear her telling herself she wants to " check it off the list." It motivates me.
You are really the whole package! From redoing this room, to cleaning the kitchen cabinets/drawers, to cooking and baking, to gardening and canning. Wow! Love all your videos!
Girl!!!!! Your motivation, is my motivation. Because of you, my freezer is stocked with breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals. All my DIY project that I’ve been procrastinating on, are done, or in process. You literally lit a fire under my bum, THANK YOU!!!
Right??? I make bread almost every week now. I food prep. Sometimes when I want to throw in the towel early I remind myself that Becky would just getter done
😂We all love you so much Becky! My favorite is the end shot of you with paint on your face and in your hair. But pearls in your ears!! That is how it should be done. I could just squeeze you! Everyone came into the kitchen to see why I was laughing out loud. Equally as funny is that you thought you would just paint the walls. We could all have told you that wasn't happening. There is a paint made just for garage floors. Something you could definitely handle. Much love from Virginia.
Thank Goodness I live in Australia! 🇦🇺 I was born in the UK and I wouldn’t mind if I never saw snow again lol. Hate the Cold! Good luck with your painting. ❤️
Hack from a artist, 1. Put your paint brushes in baggies. Then zip up. Then you don't have to clean up the brush each day. And it will work just like the day before. (Lasts about a week). 2. Wash a old dried up brush by soaking it in a jar of Murphys oil. Just fill to the level of paint on the brush. Let sit a few hours, and then gently squash it until the dried paint is loose. Then wash as normal. Will save a dried up paint brush that is hard as a rock. These 2 things have saved me a lot of money. Hope it helps. Btw, all painters have dipped thier brush in thier drinks, or drank thier painting water. 😅 Your doing a great job, looks amazing 😍
ha ha... She heard us! Too funny. I was one of a couple mentioning we hoped there would be painting in that room only because she mentioned it when she moved and thought this was a opportune time of year! Love to see the progress on the house. 🥰
If you need a longer handle, check your mop, floor duster, broom, etc. Many times they have the same size threads as your paint roller handle and can work to reach those higher places.
At age 70+ I cleaned primed, painted our bathroom, entrance hallywa lay drawing room, all ceilings, Wallis and skirting boards in two weeks including championing all my carpets and making new curtains for dra wing room. I also painted our kitchen walls and ceilings in white. My husband Joe (74) was to move furniture. We have been married for 54years and his friends and family members are so jealous because he has never once done any of our painting and decorating. He attempted to help me paint our first flat together before we married he got to put two strokes on wall before I chased him. My father was a master coach painter yes horse drawn coaches before he worked on cares yes he could hand finish cars, he was called out of retirement to hand paint the late Queen cars so I grew up learning how to handle a paintbrush. OnE uncle was a painter decorator so I learned to line and dress walls too.. Our daughter in law was furious with our son for letting me do this on my own but he just said do you like having a husband??. Clever boy knows I'd take his head off if he even considered doing it for me.
Becky, you just make me smile when I watch you working on so many projects. I grew up with a well and I'm 73 and I have a well at our homestead. So, you learn how to work without water when your well needs to be worked on. And I think you are doing great. When I was growing up on the Oregon coast my mom and dad would put big buckets out if it was raining and bring it in an put on the wood stove. Thats when we could wash dishes and fill the bathtub to take a bath. Oh, the memories. You are a very special lady.
Girl, you are a powerhouse! Painting ceilings is back breaking. This is not a job that I enjoy doing AT ALL. Huge props to you for a job well done all by yourself! ❤
My husband is a handyman and he suggested to use epoxy garage paint on your floor in your grow room. It looks really good last well and is easy. Vinyl is good but can get cut. Your room looks great honey. Awesome job
After seeing you painting the whole room like a professional, what can you not do Betty? 😅 It seems like you can do anything and everything around the house, with a toddler too.😍 Salute to your dedication in your homestead and looking forward to more enjoyable and full of learning videos Betty.😍❤️
Becky your spirit is amazing. You approach all this work, your cooking and your childbirth the same way…””let’s get this show in the road!” Lol God bless!
Once you take up the carpet, maybe you will find a drain hole in the floor and just painting it with special cement paint will be good then just use the standing mats and throw rugs if you want. It is after all a utility type room, vinyl will not work if you have a leak or water gets underneath the vinyl(mold issues could form). My husband was a builder. I learned a lot from him in the short time we had till he passed away. But I will offer what I know, when I can. You should be so proud of yourself! 😊❤
We, too, had no water a couple of weeks ago due to the freezing weather. This is the third time it has happened. Tips I have learned: 1-I got some WaterBricks to store fresh water in for drinking and cooking. They are food safe plastic, reusable, and stack neatly. 2-I saved milk jugs, juice bottles, vinegar jugs. Washed them out, filled with water and store in the bathrooms to wash hands and flush toilets. 3-this is the time to use paper plates, plastic cutlery, etc, so you don’t have to wash dishes. 4-the premade meals in foil pans make it easy to have hot meals without having to wash pots and pans. 5-I have the Ball electric water bath canner and it has been fantastic to melt snow and boil water. Just the ability to get a bath using hot water in a bucket can make you feel so good.
Becki I'm feeling like I want to get in and do painting in my home and you make it so easy. I'm 66yrs old and am very active. You are an inspiration in everything you do. I love watching you. also love your mom and dad. xxxx
Little tip for caulking Becky, wear 2 pairs of thick vinyl gloves and keep them on to smooth out the caulk then take the top ones off to have clean hands. I use a small glass jar of water to dip my finger in so it makes the caulk really smooth out on the surface. If you don’t have gloves you can put a waterproof Elastoplast on your finger and do the same.
Honey, I’m 74 and what I’d give to have 1/2 your energy! My whole house would be completely remodeled!! I’m in awe of all you do! Thank your Mom for me….she’s a true MOM!!! I watch your videos all the time. YOU AMAZE ME!!!!! ❤❤❤
Same here. My Mom, G-d bless her, couldn't cook to save her life. She had full time help in the house. I moved out at 18, knowing nothing. Im 60 now and still struggle with a few things.
@@deborahselincourt8060 My mom came from a country farmers wife home cook….never got her recipes, or if she did, never told me about them or how to make them…It’s sad….our Moms learned at their mom’s side and didn’t know to teach their kids….my son learned to cook when he was very young! If you dip your finger in slightly watered down dish soap and run it over the caulking the caulking won’t stick to your fingers and leaves a smooth finishing to the caulking.
I just love seeing what you are up to and today didn't disappoint. Your room will look amazing when you are finished and when it's so pretty, cleaning it will be a joy. Your plants are going to look beautiful against those light colored walls and the bonus of the reflected light will help them grow. I love how you make the best of whatever situation and don't let things stop you from getting work done around the house. Your spirit is inspirational. Congratulations on your grow room and getting to take a shower! YIPPEE!!! It really is the little things is life that bring us joy.
Whew! Wish I had your energy, I am on the final stages of shingles, lucky for me my shingles were attached to a scar that had some nerves cut so have not had as much pain as normal. Missed work but have gotten some projects done around house. You give us all so many ideas and even some of your energy, I catch myself feeling guilty when watching TV, I usually try to do something while watching TV. Hope you get water soon. Bless you and you family.❤
Becky, you are the energizer bunny! The room already looks so much brighter, thanks for sharing your cooking, canning, freezing, growing a garden and painting 😂. Much love ❤️
We use to fill the tubs to flush the toilets and wash hands, if you have warning that the water is going out. Storing gallon water jugs is something I'm guilty of not doing, but should. Great job, Becky!
Becky is smarter than all y’all bc she got so many comments by saying culk. instead of caulk! Way to run that channel girl. Women love a controversy!!!! And yes, I said y’all. Hehe
I love how you took the snow and used it around the house. Using what you have is an important skill for people to have because you never know when you are going to be without water, electricity or gas. You improvised so well to get a job done.
Paint those doors while you’ve got all the materials out, they look so dingy against that beautiful painted trim. That room has been so transformed already, great job as always.
I did this recently with my laundry room 😂 We were getting ready for my mom (86yrs) to move in with us. We sold our washer and dryer because we were keeping hers. I had a fairly empty laundry room for about a week. I jokingly commented to my husband that I should take this opportunity to paint and he agreed. Turned into a full remodel, not just painting walls. I love it though!!! 💜
Don't take this wrong, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who has as much paint on me as what I'm painting. It looks so much better. You are such a hard worker. Nice and bright.🙂
Great job on your seed room or utility room. Your such a joy to watch. I've grown up with no electricity for water or plumbing during storms. Thank goodness for outhouses. We melted snow for everything.
Looks awesome already Becky. You are such a hard worker with everything you've got going on. Was looking at all the paint on your hair. I bet your glad you can shower!
You certainly accomplished a lot. You said it right, prepping is the hardest and most tedious, and painting isn’t all roses too. Good job done so far.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Can’t wait to see the finished project.
Good job Becky. Every time I watch one of your videos I think of me in my younger days. I had great energy like you. I'm 73 now and I miss that energy. Be good to yourself and treat yourself to a spa day. You deserve something as special as you. Keep going girl.
You work so hard Becky and can keep yourself so motivated for every new project! Painting is hard work, prep is everything, but the end result of visual change is so satisfying.
you can reuse a paint tray if you line it with aluminum foil. once you've used up the paint , you can set your roller in and wrap the foil around it, then stick it in the fridge overnight to continue painting again the next day.
If you need water for non drinking things or ckeaning counters, ect, put some pots outside and collect the rain water. If you have any snow at all, melt that. And you can always boil it for general cleaning or adult drinking.
well... one nice thing about freezing rain is how it turns trees into living ice sculptures. Especially when the sun hits them just right. I hope you were able to enjoy that...
Won’t it look beautiful with all the green of the new starts against that fresh white paint? What a powerhouse! Go get ‘‘em tiger! You’re such a motivator for so many of us that are sitting, watching you, trying to figure out what project we should start on! Haha! Xoxo
When I paint, I use a hair dryer to dry paint to speed things along. Also, you could borrow your broom handle for a longer roller handle. I've done that.
Hi, Becky. TIP: long handle for paint roller ... try a broom handle, some of them actually unscrew from the bristle end and often times, screw perfectly into the roller head. God bless.
Oh, Becky.. I sure hope you do a follow up video for this. I love this video. You crack me up how you always do the right things but do it off the cuff. I would have to grab a piece of paper and write down everything that needs to be done because I would probably forget something. You see it as you go.
You can clean your covers and then use the Krylon paint for plastic to give them a facelift. I used that paint to update the air vent covers in my bathroom in my old house and it worked perfectly
After 60 years in sunny southern California. Took a road trip 3 years ago to live in Arkansas. Anytime a tornado or ice storm warning comes in, we fill our bathtub with water for extra. Not drinking, obviously! Lol Your room looks amazing - great job!!
NEW FLOORING: What about black & white checker w/ those 24” sort of industrial/commercial flecked tiles? I think they’re a polymer/plastic item, but 1/4” thick. Super easy to clean.
Kudos to you for using up your excess painting supplies. Less waste and hazardous materials to be thrown away. I still remember my Nama saying "Waste not, want not".
It looks so good, Becky! I am so proud of your energy and sharing the whole process of painting OUR grow room. I watch every one of your videos, so we feel a part of the process! Thanks
Becky, if you wrap your paint brushes and rollers in plastic and place in your freezer to save having to wash them. Take the out about and hour before you are ready to start painting again.
Looks fantastic so far. I would honestly get rid of the wood shelving all together as they tend to become a catch all and you really only seem to use one of them. Also for the water lines adding a hose to one would work amazing with a watering attachment would be ideal for all your seedlings no more having to bring in water for inside the house and you can just wined and unwind it when needed or get a cheap laundry tub so you can also clean your trays. Would make your life so much easier and a lot less traveling and caring things from one area to another.
My hack to share is that I turn my clothes wrong side out when painting, even if they are old clothes. I also wear a cap. Just makes for less mess. You are working hard and will be greatly rewarded with a spiffy grow room.
You are going to be so thrilled to have this done and the light will be able to bounce around for your seedlings just that much better! You are doing a great job! Yes paint the doors!
Hubby laughed at me when I pronounced the “l” in it, too. But it’s definitely a regional thing, and that’s how we say it in part of MN. I prefer it but use the non-L version, which I do not like.
Is that how they say it in Pacific NW? I know people from there and I don’t think they pronounce the “l”. Never heard it pronounced that way. It’s kinda sweet. Very Becky!
You crack me up. You are so real. You have paint on your face, in your hair, on your clothes. I love it! I look like that too when I paint. You are precious.
Becky you are the cutest with the paint smudges on your face and clothes. I'm so happy for you that you have running water again! There's nothing like a warm shower after a hard day of work :)
This is a great thing to get done. It already looks so much brighter. 😊 I love the idea of getting rid of the carpet, and replacing it with some kind of vinyl flooring, I think it would be much easier to clean. Your almost finished, keep up the great work! Awesome improvement! ❤
We have rain barrels under every downspout on the house, barn, garden shed and greenhouse. I use it for my plants, chickens and ducks. If the power goes out or anything happens, we always have water, especially, for flushing the toilet 🤠
Regarding your wondering what biographies we have enjoyed. I also love biographies. Here are some of my favorites. Passions of the mind by Irving Stone. (Life of Sigmund Freud)Times to Remember by Rose Kennedy. (About the Kennedy family from her prospective) Madam Curie by Eve Curie, and Charles Lindbergh by Mathew Rivers.
Nothing like a fresh coat of paint to turn a room around. Even if it isn't perfect it really does make a ton of difference. It's SO bright and clean looking in there.
I love projects like this! I have a similar old workshop off of our garage and totally transformed it. Paint does so much to liven up a space! Well done! Can’t wait to see the finished product 😊
Amazing how just the primer makes your grow room look bigger. I am sure it feels so good to have it painted and ready for planting! You are like the energizer bunny! Love how active you are what you bring to us all! Your room is looking great and it will feel so good when you walk in after to your seedlings when everything is back together. Linolium is a good idea for the floor if not real tile but the first would be cheaper and quicker.
I feel you! Went from mid January to late spring without water(my son went back early to college). I learned I could melt, boil, strain water from snow. Wash my hair in a gallon and half of water. Get all the water I wanted at our local Dunkin Donuts and in April at the cemetery where my husband is buried). It took 8 to 10 gallons to shower. Thank God our well was ok. 😊❤
Great progress! It already is so much brighter! I have been using scrub daddy's for years now. Made me smile when I saw you using one. Can't imagine water being out that long. You made lemonade out of lemons again. Well done!!
Can we all appreciate Becky's "painting" outfit 😂 That is an outfit I would wear for date night 😂 We love you Becky! ❤
Right, I’m embarrassed at what I wear when painting. I painted two months ago and still pain in my hair 😂 she’s looking fabulous while painting
I’ll share a water hack that has served me well. When you empty a canning jar, clean it, fill it with water put the lid and band back on and put it back in the pantry. It takes up no more space than the filled jar but it gives you water in cases like this. Happy painting ❤️❤️❤️

Hehe
Becky, You are definitely a Proverbs 31 women. You take care of your household and your husband has confidence in you!
Becky you should get Josh to make you a potting station outside your grow room 😊
She can probably build whatever she wants herself!
Great idea ❣️
GIRL power@@mrmrsaofbarredowlcabin405
I did this recently with my laundry room 😂
We were getting ready for my mom (86yrs) to move in with us. We sold our washer and dryer because we were keeping hers. I had a fairly empty laundry room for about a week. I jokingly commented to my husband that I should take this opportunity to paint and he agreed. Turned into a full remodel, not just painting walls.
I love it though!!! 💜
Holy moly! It makes all the difference with just the primer on!! Looks great! Aaannnddd still, no water! You’re amazing, girl!
Don't take this wrong, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who has as much paint on me as what I'm painting. It looks so much better. You are such a hard worker. Nice and bright.🙂
Great job Becky - you will so appreciate your hard work fixing up this room - especially since you spend so much time there! ❤😊
Great job on your seed room or utility room. Your such a joy to watch. I've grown up with no electricity for water or plumbing during storms. Thank goodness for outhouses. We melted snow for everything.
You're doing a brilliant job wee hen! From Lesley in Scotland..
“Wee hen”. Hahaha. I love it! Hello Scotland!
That pink tree at timeline52:21 is absolutely breathtaking 💗💗💗
Good job Becky. Every time I watch one of your videos I think of me in my younger days. I had great energy like you. I'm 73 now and I miss that energy. Be good to yourself and treat yourself to a spa day. You deserve something as special as you. Keep going girl.
You work so hard Becky and can keep yourself so motivated for every new project! Painting is hard work, prep is everything, but the end result of visual change is so satisfying.
Becky you can use a broom handle or shovel handle on a paint roller!
you can reuse a paint tray if you line it with aluminum foil. once you've used up the paint , you can set your roller in and wrap the foil around it, then stick it in the fridge overnight to continue painting again the next day.
If you need water for non drinking things or ckeaning counters, ect, put some pots outside and collect the rain water. If you have any snow at all, melt that. And you can always boil it for general cleaning or adult drinking.
She already showed how she boiled lots of snow in the last couple of videos.
well... one nice thing about freezing rain is how it turns trees into living ice sculptures.
It is looking like a brand new room. I think the wood shelves would look amazing painted white. I am excited to see how it all comes out. :)
Hi, Becky. TIP: long handle for paint roller ... try a broom handle, some of them actually unscrew from the bristle end and often times, screw perfectly into the roller head. God bless.
I have running water and have still made so many excuses to delay my projects lol thanks for sharing Becky, I needed this motivation!
😂😂 love that comment
Oh, Becky.. I sure hope you do a follow up video for this. I love this video. You crack me up how you always do the right things but do it off the cuff. I would have to grab a piece of paper and write down everything that needs to be done because I would probably forget something. You see it as you go.
You will feel so much better working in the grow room!!
You can clean your covers and then use the Krylon paint for plastic to give them a facelift. I used that paint to update the air vent covers in my bathroom in my old house and it worked perfectly
I love these kinds of videos! It's so nice when you change it up a little!
After 60 years in sunny southern California. Took a road trip 3 years ago to live in Arkansas. Anytime a tornado or ice storm warning comes in, we fill our bathtub with water for extra. Not drinking, obviously! Lol
Your room looks amazing - great job!!
Thanks
Audio book suggestion: “Where the Crawdads Sing” One of my all time favourites. I can listen to it over and over again. It’s also an excellent movie.
😂 Miss Becky... you are the only girl I know who would be painting in pearls. I ❤ your channel.
Great job!!! It’s going to be beautiful when you are all done.
You are going to be so thrilled to have this done and the light will be able to bounce around for your seedlings just that much better! You are doing a great job! Yes paint the doors!
The number of times you said "culk" was killing me lol.
Very Becky!
Caulk is pronounced like "Hawk." Window "seals" are also killing me.😂 They are window sills, but they do seal the wind out.
Same!!
And, anyway, I would rather watch and listen to Becky than just about any other podcast.
You crack me up. You are so real. You have paint on your face, in your hair, on your clothes. I love it!
I look like that too when I paint.
You are precious.
I love painting projects. The results are so satisfying!
I've always used a broom handle attached to the roller.
So glad you decided this!!
You will love it more when it is
Fresher and looking amazing
Nothing like a fresh coat of paint to turn a room around. Even if it isn't perfect it really does make a ton of difference. It's SO bright and clean looking in there.
I am so impressed with your energy and ambition.❤
I'm watching Becky work so hard, and I'm impressed, while I relax on my couch with my pillow and blanket. Becky is amazing.
Glad your water is up and running. Funny how when things unexpected occur we finish projects we hadn't thought about.😊
❤❤❤ Becky you are so brave to take on painting. Having no water is a pain in deed. Wish I had your energy.
For the floor- have you considered an epoxy one? They are durable and easily cleaned. Also it’s a diy if you want it to be.
Great project.🎉 Tfs. Have a wonderful afternoon.🤗
Becky u can take the grill off the door then spray paint it black so much easier and looks nice
Great progress! It already is so much brighter! I have been using scrub daddy's for years now. Made me smile when I saw you using one. Can't imagine water being out that long. You made lemonade out of lemons again. Well done!!
It's amazing how bright it is in there, and it's not even done yet.
You tackled a huge job and you did great WOW! I painted my kitchen cabinets one year I love the feeling after all clean and fresh 🎉looks great!
I had my primer mixed in with my paint. Made things so much easier.
Yay I'm off work when you uploaded. Just love to see your name come across my notifications bar.
Memoirs of a Geisha was a very good book as well as a movie. Different cultures are fascinating to me.
