    Scott, one of the simplest yet most important tips has to do with your device that you are using. If you are working off of a laptop or tablet, one must always elevate their camera to just slightly above eye level. As you mentioned in your opening, a lot of people are conducting video conference meeting today. Good examples on why this is important can be found on the hundreds of people appearing on cable news shows. 8 out of 10 times, they are looking down at the camera and you as the viewer are looking up their nose. What I have done is grabbed an old Amazon shipping box about 4 or 5 inches in height. I place my laptop on it and when I am in a meeting, I am in essence making "eye contact" with the viewer on the other side. A stack of books couls also work.

    • @Simpletivity

      @@Simpletivity Any suggestions about how to position the Logitech Brio? I am struggling on where to look so it appears that I am looking at the other person-- the Brio is hanging off the top of the imac. I recorded a meeting and I appear to be not making eye contact at all. Thanks

    • @toney5043
      @toney5043 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@skipneumann1 Skip, when you say that the Brio "...is hanging..." what do you mean. I have a Logitech C922 1080P HD webcam mounted to a 27 inch Sharp computer monitor. The C922 is of similar design to the Brio and it mounts perfectly to my monitor. I place it in the middle and make sure that the rear attachment if flush to the back so that the front of the camera angles down ever so slightly. When on a Zoom call think Television newscaster. While they are looking at a teleprompter mounted to the side of below the camera, it is "the camera iris" that they are actually looking at. It takes some getting used to so you have to stay really focused when you are speaking to look at the camera and not the screen where everyone else is at. If you will also review any of the current TV reporters on the news channels that are reporting from home, you will notice that they are looking straight ahead to the camera. Hope this helps.

    Thank you for the "floating menu" tip! I often wondered how to hide it temporarily for the same problem you highlighted in the video. Tip I'd like to share: when creating your meetings, click on "enable join before host" which allows participants to join the meeting room before I do. I use Zoom to schedule my own meetings as well as for my executives and this tip allows everyone to join without me having to start the meeting or my executives can use different devices and still lead their meetings.

      I understand that there could be security issues with doing this, e.g. if a bad actor gets access to your meeting and offends your participants before you join. There may be other settings (such as authentication) which help you still do this though.

      I agree with that. Alternatively, I also created a 20min "meeting will begin soon" video. So I manually start the meeting about 10-15mins prior to start time for the early birds, share-screen while that video is playing just in case I'm running a bit late. The video is just a bunch of video clips of nature scenes with added copyright-free elevator type music and words on screen saying "Welcome, meeting will begin soon." That way the meeting officially starts and everyone knows they're in the right place. Makes the "waitiing time" look more official. For people in business, you can create this type of "meeting will begin soon" video and include silent ads of your products, services or even ads for upcoming events for your biz. Easy to create in PowerPoint.

You make me want to barf Simpletivity, for not boldly informing your subscribers and other viewers who float past your door at 475k viewers on that presentation with you acting as a type of retailer for unsafe hacker enabled social engineering. You should be looking at your shoes, rather than encouraging usage of Zoom. Anyone reading this unless the channel owner or nefarious youtube employees renders it shadowbanned, delete the app while researching why to verify this WARNING. FU you dark web creeper sociopaths laughing at the miles of abuse and suicides you caused. Gonna take your gun collections and your hacker tools and you will never work in this town again. @@DogShowMentor Hackers reportedly put $500K price tag on latest security exploit.
      As the coronavirus pandemic forced millions of people to stay home over the past month, Zoom suddenly became the video meeting service of choice: Daily meeting participants on the platform surged from 10 million in December to 200 million in March.
      With that popularity came Zoom's privacy risks extending rapidly to massive numbers of people. From built-in attention-tracking features to recent upticks in "Zoombombing" (in which uninvited attendees break into and disrupt meetings with hate-filled or pornographic content), Zoom's security practices have been drawing more attention -- along with at least three lawsuits against the company.
