For clarification, when I ended Part II stating you don't beat this kind of monster, I meant not without becoming a bigger or worse kind of monster. I fully believe that if Meruem hadn't had the change of heart he did, Netero wouldn't have had the chance to kill him. Given the change in Meruem and the lengths Netero was willing to go to to win, Meruem was able to be killed.
I just started watching this anime and I am probably like 5 episodes away from this fight, and the thumbnail picture has me FULLY TORQUED! I’ll come back to the video after the fight!
That’s an interesting perspective, I hadn’t considered that idea in those terms, but I do see where you’re coming from with that claim. When looking at Meruem through that lens, it does make everything make a bit more sense.
@@im_WHEAT Meruem was born as a beast to dominate. Devoid of emotions. While Gon was representation of innocence. Then they grow and change. Do you recall the panels where Gon looks down on Pitou with hate while she was on her knees and then there was one where meruem looks down on komugi on her knees with nothing but affection. Pouf was standing behind meruem and killua behind Gon while both of them were saddened wondering WTH happened to their boy. Also Gon never met meruem. Not once.
@@teddysama5745 I had forgotten about that! I see what you're saying, their parallel but inverse journeys really are amazing, especially when shown in details like that
I know this is a nitpick and I get what you mean but he probably saw him walking out with Neter and Zeno behind him, and Meruem most definitely sensed him@@teddysama5745

Thanks, I appreciate that!
He took a complete hero’s journey. Villains don’t take this journey. He was the hero of chimera ant arc while Gon was the villain.
