Join us on a Mountain Rescue Mission as we bring our Texel rams home from the harsh hills after a tough tupping season. The mountain environment was taking its toll, and it was time to give the lads a break! We then head to Coolaney Mart, where we sell our horned ram lambs, and the prices just keep getting dearer. It’s a day of challenges, wins, and plenty of action on the farm.
If you enjoy farming, sheep care, and a good day at the mart, this video is for you!

Great video Great to see very good prices for sheep👏
Good prices there. Very happy for John. Hope you have a good number left to sell.
Still a few! Thanks
Looking nice
Cracking video as always lad
Good video again 👍
Have you got flocks of horned ewes that you only run horned rams on for replacements? Would putting the terminals in first mean all your most fertile ewes have terminal lambs?
Is John making a good margin on those rams on feed at that price?
Very Very Good
💚💚👍NICE🥰
Thank you

Price/hd? My Dad raised Suffolk and Rambouillet X. Thank you.
Well . . . great video . . . but maybe one day you could explain whats the attraction to these black horned sheep . . . they don't look too big and they also seem all horns, if one took the head off, half the weight might be gone. Just a question from an uneducated sheep person. I can only reason that the might be adaptable to the rough terrain. Cheers.
Its all about the terrain. Those texel rams spent 3.5 weeks on the hills and came back in skinny.
The Blackie ewes survive and raise lambs in the same conditions.
They can live on the mountain 😁
Those Mayo Blackface sheep are incredible survivors. They can thrive in tough conditions, lamb out twins without assistance, and raise those lambs with no supplemental feeding. Sure, a Texel ram might sire lambs that could grow a little faster or larger, but will the lambs need supplemental feeding ? Will the crossbred lambs actually survive til they reach the market? No good to the bottom line if the crossbred lambs die on the hill…. Every farmer has to evaluate their ground and conditions, and gamble on what breed or combinations will work and survive over the next year - not knowing exactly what the weather conditions will be.
All about survival blackys will survive anywhere and not only survive they will thrive and raise a pair of lambs and still keep great condition on them you have to farm with the land you have
