Join me on a packed few days of sheep farming action! 🐑💪 It all starts on Dad’s farm, where we pick lambs for the mart and dose the remaining flock. From there, it's off to Dowra Mart with a trailer full of lambs ready to hit the auction ring. I’ll take you behind the scenes as we drop them off and show the buzz of lambs being sold.
But the action doesn’t stop there! On Saturday, I bring 16 of my own lambs to another mart, where I manage to sell them for an impressive €120 each. After the mart, it's back to the fields, where the rams are busy tupping and we gear up for a strong lambing season. I finish the day by putting out Crystalyx feed buckets to keep the flock in top condition.
This video has it all-mart highlights, the hard work behind successful sales, and life with sheep during the most exciting time of the year. Whether you’re into farming, livestock, or just curious about the hustle of a sheep farmer, this one’s for you! 🌟
Don’t miss the insights, action, and a close look at the highs and lows of farm life. Hit play now!

Well done. Nice to see your hard work paying dividends. Your positive approach and good humour is a credit to you. Long may lamb prices stay strong and long may young people of your ilk continue to farm the land. Both yourself and Glyn Egan keep us well entertained with your videos. Thank you for that.
Organic buckets are €54 where I am 😮. I was told to kick the crystalix lid on the side lightly and no need to lift with fingers at all. It works
I’ll try that, that’s dear!
best of luck to you in sheep farming. well done great sheep farming.
Thank you Patrick!
Some harsh working conditions, you’ve earned your money, well done. Overheads take the shine off the job. Such demand for sheep meat, you’d wonder who’s buying them🤔
I think there’s live exports going on which is helping, factory prices are strong too.
Great video Karl you done great with your lambs 👌
Was interesting seeing the market over there! How many do they sell in a day?
Depends on the time of year, those marts were v quiet, about 1500-2000. There’ll be marts with 4 or 5000 in the busy period no problem. Nothing compared to over with ye!
The snow on the hills makes it look so much like Central Otago in New Zealand
Savage prices - good stuff
We shore some lambs this year as an experiment and they made £9 a head more than unshorn lambs very pretty even animals - definitely worth the effort & cost
Think they just look better skins and cleaner
Thanks !
from watching David from Sheep School who was interviewing one of the livestock agents - lamb prices are up because the Scottish Lambs are no longer being trucked over because of blue tongue so the Irish have the lamb market to themselves - they are not competing with the mainland
That would help id say, I think they’re also shipping lambs aswell which is helping the forward stores and fat lambs
Dose urs dad work off farm or his he full time farmer
Cash is king, gotta keep it rolling in to buy that tepari 🤪
Do you have a rough idea of what the lambs owe you as the months roll on with the extra dose’s and stuff they need? Iam guessing it’s all on your herdwatch app?
If you didn’t still have lambs your growing out now, would that mean you could run more ewes or wouldn’t change much?
Where did you buy the lick Buckets, cost over €50 in mayo
It's absolutely fascinating to watch another country's livestock auctions.
A little explanation if you wouldn't mind about your livestock market sales? The last group in that first auction sold for 130.5. are the lambs weed in advance so that the buyer knows what total weight he's getting and therefore what price per kg he's paying?
Also what does the sell away call indicate? Is that the seller lifting the reserve price?
Terrific videos really enjoy this.
Well done, good video
Thank you Denis
Karl do you miss Australian weather
Your dad got great money for his lambs. Your were worth a tenner more. Good lambs.
Aye worth a bit more but still great money Shane, it’s great to see it. 🔥
@@EweTubeIreland ya it is. I got 136 for 30kgs last week. Everything is going tomorrow. 😆
Buy Low, Sell High
You got it 🤑😂
Is the constant moving and messing with the sheep in the pen a nervous thing your dad does.... as he growls at the auctioneer, 41kgs....
He turns them out the way to try and show them to the buyers. 😁
I'd say the majority will pay extra out of fear
@@martinhealy3741 as long as they pay 🤣
🐨👍
252 A Fine girl
Sold lambs last week €172 a head average 46kg
You definitely have your work cut out when working with or having sheep
Sure do, good craic too though Paddy! 😁
Glad you got a good price. This time of year is gloomy with its short days.
Thanks Linda, yeah we should be back in Oz 😂
Congratulations on the nice payday.
Thanks Patricia ❤️
