Great list. Lots of my favorites plus a few I'd never played. I'm impressed with the mix of Japanese and European composers. Also, the video is perfect: pure gameplay.
The Duck Tales "Moon" theme is such a mainstay of these lists (it would be on mine), so I admire you for being unique and sharing some awesome songs I wasn't familiar with. Great 'favorites' list, loved or now love, every song.
Here's part of what is so amazing about the Journey to Silius Soundtrack. The NES sound chip is only natively capable of producing 3 notes at the same time. That's exactly enough notes to produce one cord on a single instrument. Yet thanks to some pretty advanced coding, the composers and programmers for the soundtrack were able to get a melody, counter-melody, drums, cymbals, and bass all emulated and playing together at the same time on the NES sound chip.
NES had three note channels (lead, harmony, bass), plus one for noise (drums), and another for samples. All the audio dept. did at Sunsoft was record bass samples to use in that channel, and use the original "bass channel" for a cymbal sound. Ingenious, and really well produced, but nothing the NES couldn't do on it's own :) Check out Mr. Gimmick and Lagrange Point. Those had special chips with extra channels on them.
@@SpiralPegasus The triangle channel is used for more than just cymbals, but it's all in the general bucket of augmenting the percussion, giving the drum kit that physical "unts" that lacks in games that only use the noise channel. Of course, that left Naoki Kodaka with just the two pulse channels to do both the lead and rhythm guitars, but the trick they went with is that harmony is always a power chord including a melody note. And because there is no difference between the two pulse channels, by using both cleverly with different vibrato and envelopes, you can get a sound of two guitars in there. If you listen to basically any channel in isolation, it sounds pretty terrible, but when you put it all together, well, you heard the result.
It's very sad that video game composers never got the recognition they deserved. Even today there are awesome composers like Jeremy Soule, Gareth Coker and Michael McCann who are only known by a portion of the gaming community.
@@TheFlamingPike their music is forever in our hearts, it's better than getting a stupid award or something like that, I think it means a lot to them already

The Famicom could support additional sound chips in the cartridge. So, what you're hearing is an extra voice or two playing along with the stock audio of the console.
Omg there's so much bass in the NES, just got my first subwoofer and it's shaking the house! It's a 15" Klipsch, but still... I had no idea there was so much deep bass in the NES!
Неплохая солянка, правда упустил как минимум мелодии из Batman Returns, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers и Contra Force и неплохую композицию "I'm Everyone - And No One. Everywhere - Nowhere. Call Me... Darkman." из игры Darkman.
I, on the contrary, am glad it wasn't included. I think that it's a genuinely poor track, hugely overrated and far outstripped by better tracks on the system. I don't think it's even the best Moon theme on the console - Tim Follin's Treasure Master has a better one - let alone one of the best songs on the limited sound chip that the NES had.

What a way to start the video with a heavy hitter js nes had the best era in soundtracks for video games that could never be touched js these songs would never die will always live for ever 😍😍😍
Some of the 8-bit graphics almost looks as good as 16-bit. The better looking games usually has the better sound track.
The Silver Surfer BGM 1 track is just too good. Deserves a live performance :D

Bloody Tears in Castlevania II is sounding really different than I remember it sounding.
That's because this video uses the (inferior imo) version used in the Japanese game
yeah that is not what the american version sounded like AT ALL.
The Famicom could support additional sound chips in the cartridge. So, what you're hearing is an extra voice or two playing along with the stock audio of the console.
@@0XenonPL0 VRC7 vers ftw
@@NeoKad99 So you like the objectively worse version with less voices? okay...
I still listen to these tracks when I do work stuff. Keeps my mind relaxed hehe 😁
These need more views! Great background music, love them
Omg there's so much bass in the NES, just got my first subwoofer and it's shaking the house! It's a 15" Klipsch, but still... I had no idea there was so much deep bass in the NES!
13:15 What in tarnation? Now THAT'S some BASS! I was afraid my new sub would break! WOW
Неплохая солянка, правда упустил как минимум мелодии из Batman Returns, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers и Contra Force и неплохую композицию "I'm Everyone - And No One. Everywhere - Nowhere. Call Me... Darkman." из игры Darkman.
Great List! need more ducktales and chip n dale though!
I would say you missed probably one of the greatest tunes o the NES, Ducktales, the moon level in my opinion.
i looked down for this, not dissapointed. "Ducktales - The Moon" hands down
I, on the contrary, am glad it wasn't included. I think that it's a genuinely poor track, hugely overrated and far outstripped by better tracks on the system. I don't think it's even the best Moon theme on the console - Tim Follin's Treasure Master has a better one - let alone one of the best songs on the limited sound chip that the NES had.
RAKtheUndead mmmm ok
Moon theme is too high-pitched in my opinion.
it's said in the description (in Russian) he had to take it out because of the copyright issues
You know the list is gonna be fire when Journey to Silius is up first
Only a few people got managed to hear the rest of silver surfers ost.
why
BECAUSE ITS DAMN HARD!!!
There's always game genie just to get to the end
@@adrian53080 :D yea
great list man thanks!!!
great list ! I play this video often while coding microcontrollers to get in the 8 bit mood :D like now !
I'm doing the same thing lmao. (Except mine is an FPGA with a 32 bit soft processor)
hahahaha musical working vitamins :D
