Been playing games for over 30 years now, and man nothing will ever beat this era, the birth and beginning of such amazing series, the music brings back so many great memories, nothing will ever beat those games in my heart, bring me back and keep me there it's just too good.
It wasn't bad, but it was quaint when compared to the 98-2008 PC scene. Modded Unreal/Half-Life was the pinnacle of gaming. Anyone could use the development tools to create their own maps, characters, etc.
I agree 100%. This era of video games was unmatched. What I loved the most was that most NES games were based off of the arcades so you have limited lives and had to start all over, making them a real challenge to complete.
@zeif that's the case, why most of these indies and triple studios can bately come up with nes style games that are better? They're good but a lot of them still doesn't have the magic. TH-camrs say anything these days. The nes era was more popping than these those pc u spoke of at the time. Truthfully, pc didn't start taking off until the most recent years when xbox started to push for pc when they found out they can't compete with Sony and Nintendo. If it wasn't for Nintendo I don't think gaming would be what it is today even on thrbpc side of things. Your comment was quaint
We remember nes thing's like video games was limited. Nowdays you can do console quality games anywhere you want. Limited things have more valuable than current things.
I can tell why people felt in the future in the 80s.. synth music, home consoles with badass techno vibes and the clothing it really is a cool retro vibe Also a theme I would add to this list: The legend of Zelda dungeon song
I'm nearly 40. Just watched the Darkwing Duck part and it felt like I was playing it yesterday. Lol. These games will stay in our minds all our lives. Also, RoboCop 3 gave me the same feeling. The music in that was legendary.
Glad you included the Double Dragon II soundtrack, which included a few good funky 80s tunes. But especially the ending credits theme. That one, at least for me, has to be the most memorable NES ending theme of all-time. I also remember Megaman 3 sounding particularly great as well, especially the Snakeman and Magnetman stages in particular.
I like Mega Man 2 in the #2 slot, but there's a lot missing from this list. No Final Fantasy, No Rygar, No Wizards and Warriors in particular #3, No Werewolf the Last Warrior, no Contra, no Duck Tales. Now that I think about it, my list would be completely different.
Clicked on this expecting a ton of commentary and waxing poetic about each game, but no, you just got right down to business and let the music speak for itself and provided a lot of really good technical gameplay to go along with the killer tracks. Fantastic video, thank you for this!
I personally always thought Flashman's tune was the best on that game. Let's face it though almost all the tunes on that game would belong on here. Not all, but most.
Incredible Thanks for putting this together The late 80s and early 90s were such an incredible time to be a kid Just enough technology but not too much like we have now
There's something ure about these soundtracks. They seems so simple and yet... so perfect. They sound a bit like nostalgia, remind you of a time when everything was a bit more simple and purer.
No matter how much I've replayed and listen to this music, only at this age it becomes clear how simple everything was for us in those days. Thanks to the composers for their titanic work and education of musical taste, and God bless all our parents for sheltering us in such difficult times from all worldly problems so that we could remember these magnificent tunes.
The list definitely covers most of classics. I'm surprised The Guardian Legend isn't on this list. It was like zelda meets space shooter and had a a banger sound track to boot.
Oh man, so friggin good! As a teen in the early 90s, I liked the Batman Returns track when I rented the game so much I recorded it on cassette tape so I could listen to it after I returned it to the store. 28:56
just reminder how beauty this soundtrack fom NES 1. Kick Master - Opening 2. Getsu Fuma Den - every inside room fight 3. Getsu Fuma Den - Map walking ( My fav^^ )
I love the music, absolutely brilliant, but can we acknowledge whoever is playing for the footage👍👍absolutely pwning these games. That Joker fight geez. Made it look like a breeze.
I hate being 1 of those people here cos i accept that this is your list and choices and these are all brilliant tunes you've picked but im amazed level one of journey to silius isn't included in this video. For me the best tune the Nes has ever produced. Also my overall best soundtrack on the Nes is powerblade which i was hoping this video wud av had any.1 of its tracks here. Anyway like i said i get it, we're all different and these are your picks. I enjoyed the video 👍
I'm very surprised that Journey to Silius didn't make this list. Go back and listen to it, especially level 1s tune, and tell me that it shouldn't be on this list. It's remained in my mind, and as a favorite of mine, ever since 1990.
There are a ton of NES musics better than that Robocop 3 one. Just going off Sunsoft titles I'm familiar with, basically anything from Journey to Silius, Blaster Master, Gremlins 2, or hell even Freedom Force which is weaker than the other three. I guess an exhaustive list would be pretty big.
An excellent selection of soundtracks, I would also add “Journey to Silius”, each track there can be considered the best. "Final Fantasy 1" in particular "Temple of Chaos", and probably out of great love I would add the track of the first stage "P.O.W."
Mega Man II is such a good track. Didn't play it as a kid, but to anyone who watched The Smash Brothers - they used that track perfectly in the M2K episode.
I grew up with NES games and have finished all NES Megaman, my recommendation is that new players play in a Megaman anniversary collection or something because there's option to lesser the difficult because NES games are unforgiven 😁👍
I would add Ducktales, Gremlins and Super Mario 3 to the list. Ducktales has a lot of very catchy themes besides the well known moon theme, Gremlins has a pretty amazing soundtrack and Mario 3 has a few really great tracks too. The world 7 music might be my favourite.
There are so many great tracks from the NES/Famicom it's hard to compile a list. I'm surprised to not see more Mega Man and no contra 1 music. This list overall is quite good though :)
La versión original japonesa se llama Tokkyū Shirei Solbrain, el juego esta basado en una serie. La versión original de FAMICOM es distinta a la de NES. Busca Tokkyū Shirei Solbrain,
My top 10 list (for complete soundtracks) would be: 1. Castlevania 3 2. Megaman 2 3. Megaman 3 4. Metroid 5. Journey to Silius 6. Final Fantasy 7. Castlevainia 2 (I would say this is my personal favorite) 8. Ninja Gaiden 9. Contra 10. Life Force
So when I first saw this video a million thoughts went through my head. I was so excited to hear the amazing music.. I had so many soundtracks in mind, and couldn't wait to see how they all ranked up. I was initially ranking them in my head. What could be the one.. what could the top 5 be . And so I put my headphones in, closed my eyes and hit play. . So as I'm listening to the first one I thought to myself okay I can see this Castlevania 3. Sure. It's a classic. But then as wily's theme came on from mega Man 2, my eyes opened so wide. I couldn't even understand what was going on in life.. I thought to myself how did mega Man 2s soundtrack just get ranked 30th of all time?!?!!! That's when I realized these are in no order. ..
The fact that Tecmo Super Bowl isn't on here is madness. Not everybody likes sports games so it gets overlooked, but the soundtrack has banger after banger.
We could sing to/hum to and memorize musics from the video games of the 1980s - 1990s. but the same isn't for today's PC and PlayStation Games. those were great days.
Kudos to making a pretty good list of awesome NES tracks. Little disappointed that Ducktales, Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Guardian Legend, and Bionic Commando, didn't make the list. And as much as I love Dr Wily's Stage from MM2 Bubble Man is just a better tune to jam out to.
Nice video. For me the best nes soundtracks also are in: Captain Tsubasa 2; Treasure Master (Tim follin); Doble dragon 3; super spy hunter, Journey to sylus
Shatterhand Final Area sounds absolutely incredible. That and Wicked Child from Castlevania are my favorites. Then again, I like melodic death metal so there's that lol

Thank you *Capcom and Konami,* for giving us our childhoods. Beautiful! 😢
True.😢
You forgot Sunsoft

Where's the Pictionary?
I glad someone else said Pictionary! Great opening theme!

I could honestly listen to this all day something about the 8 bit era
This is not an aging classic, which will always evoke pleasant emotions in us =)
Too bad some of these mixes are not the right ones. But nonetheless great, great list! Now onward to listen the 31 Best SNES Music one!

hell yeah! brings back great memories yeah!
Man, I’m hearing these for the first time with modern headphones, the bass hits so hard lol
Aquarius from Castlevania III is stunning! What a masterpiece
Aquarius is wonderful but I think Clockwork will always be my favorite from that soundtrack.
I like how they used the Japanese soundtrack and the Japanese graphic backgrounds in this video.
Thank you for bringing back the sounds of my childhood
I can tell why people felt in the future in the 80s.. synth music, home consoles with badass techno vibes and the clothing it really is a cool retro vibe
Also a theme I would add to this list: The legend of Zelda dungeon song

No Final Fantasy or Duck Tales is an oversight for sure. Good list, but I was looking for many of the ones you were.
“Why is Nintendo music so damn AWESOME?” - me as a kid not realizing that a lot of Nintendo music is basically 8-bit metal.
Bloody Tears is one of the best video games tracks of all time.
TMNT 3. Playing that in early 90s as a kid 😍
Man these are some great songs. NES sound chip is something special.
Clicked on this expecting a ton of commentary and waxing poetic about each game, but no, you just got right down to business and let the music speak for itself and provided a lot of really good technical gameplay to go along with the killer tracks. Fantastic video, thank you for this!
Man, that Mega Man 2 song hit and I was right back as a kid in my basement in 1989 playing that game...
I personally always thought Flashman's tune was the best on that game. Let's face it though almost all the tunes on that game would belong on here. Not all, but most.
Incredible
Thanks for putting this together
The late 80s and early 90s were such an incredible time to be a kid
Just enough technology but not too much like we have now
Great list! Not only did you let each song run for its length, the versions of each track you pulled sound great!
Man... Golden days. I miss my childhood.
Holy speed run. The footage is INSANE
they're all TAS I bet
F**k! The "Kraid's Lair" give me chills and a tear fell down from my eye!!
I still get the same mysterious feeling from when playing in the late 80s - early 90s
There's something ure about these soundtracks. They seems so simple and yet... so perfect.
They sound a bit like nostalgia, remind you of a time when everything was a bit more simple and purer.
Gracias por crear este video amigo, uno de mis favoritos de TH-cam ❤
Batman and shadow of the ninja should be tied for 1st. Those two tracks are so good. Love the metal covers of them as well.
Agreed
Journey to Silius should be on someone's list...or a part 2
Agreed. Stellar soundtrack.
It is so awesome that these games bring me back to the 80s, yes ! Yes! Yes. Love Nes
This was the era baby!!! Playing arcade games at the local convenient stores for a quarter.
Amazing, thank you so much for this amazing collection
Gotta love and appreciate the imagination and creativity of the people who composed these soundtracks.🤘✌️
Оооо. Будет из чего на мобилку звонок выбрать)
Damn the gameplay here for all these games were impeccable
I know I'm late to the party, but these are tool assisted speedruns. A majority of these moves can only be done by the two timer himself.
Awesome mix! Honorable mentions for me:
Merchant Theme - Pirates!
In the Town theme - Willow
Title/Stage 2 - Skyshark (or Stage 4, both amazing)
Title - Solstice
Name/Password - Battle of Olympus
Streets Theme 4 - Nightshade
Round Theme -T&C's Surf Designs Wood and Water Rage
Take Off Theme - Afterburner
Rear View Race - Eliminator Boat Duel
Route 1 Theme - Clash at Demonhead
Dungeon/Hidden Area - Startropics|
Stage 3: Planet Ratis - Lifeforce
More of these please! My brother and I, along with my nephews, listed to this yesterday. I really like the format that’s starting here.
No matter how much I've replayed and listen to this music, only at this age it becomes clear how simple everything was for us in those days. NESしらない作品も沢山あって凄く良かった!

Музыка Contra Force - дает невероятную атмосферу боевиков 90-ых. Удивительно, но звучит свежо и по сей день!

The list definitely covers most of classics. I'm surprised The Guardian Legend isn't on this list. It was like zelda meets space shooter and had a a banger sound track to boot.

Double dragon 2 é sensacional, posso ouvir mil vezes que me soa como algo novo e especial.

This is nice. You've surprised me with your compilation.
There are so many great tracks from the NES/Famicom it's hard to compile a list. I'm surprised to not see more Mega Man and no contra 1 music. This list overall is quite good though :)
That metroid music is waaaay more cinematic than it gets credit for!!!
I swear
The golden era. Best creativity in history!
The death ending in batman is the best music.
Shatterhand is my favorite underappreciated game.

You have to love that on all of these awesome themes, TAS (tool assisted system) is playing 😁 Awesome fits awesome
The wizardy music was prety good too. I spent hours listening to it trying to figure that game out as a wee lad.
All of them are incredible!.. my top 3: Silver Surfer, Batman Return of the Joker and Castlevania II Simon's quest.
Miss these times I wish we could go back in time yeah!
My top 10 list (for complete soundtracks) would be:

That Silver Surfer theme went CRAZY
dubble dragon was just another lvl on those times ❤️
On the nes, Megaman is the best game in terms of graphics, textures, storyline, music and action
We could sing to/hum to and memorize musics from the video games of the 1980s - 1990s. but the same isn't for today's PC and PlayStation Games. those were great days.
Man starting out with one of my favorites
It's an OK list, but I can't take it too seriously since you didn't include Bionic Commando or Strider. Some pretty glaring omissions.
