Bill, fair review. Cost me 130 and the fruits are good but not enough at this price. I enjoy the Blue Spot more. Just starting on a Red Spot.

I think I’ve watched all ur Irish reviews and we just don’t jive, which is fine. I still watch. My other comment is that the pot still spice makes Irish in general very susceptible to the day you drink it. I also think the reg GS can be the most inconsistent bc it’s 40% and the spice bite isn’t always welcome when you want a softer pour. Cheers!

The Gold is actually my favorite of the spot line. And I have all the recent Spot releases except for the Green Spot Quails Gate.

      Quails gate is really nice
And a great collector bottle in my opinion 🤛

Love the moving the air over the tongue suggestion. The whiskey sounds quite interesting. May have to try a pour.

Nice review. Inflation is making it harder to determine whether a whiskey is worth it or not.

Great review! The port finished portion is 17 years old but I’m not sure what percentage of it is in there. I got a lot of cinnamon and vanilla like Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Mitchell & Son just released another Spot this past week, Green Spot Quail’s Gate Pinot Noir finish.

    Love the Spots.
I do not get the whole Irish whiskey day or month. Irish whiskey is fantastic and should be consumed daily 🥃

Hah, I agree. Irish Whiskey month started years ago when it wasn't selling well and people mostly ignored it.

I'm waiting to open my app on Saint Patty's Day. You definitely got my attention with this one. Now I am more eager to try it. See what I get. Bill, did you try with water? I wonder if it does anything to it. And I absolutely agree with you. My go-to spot is green spot. Definitely worth 60 bucks. I have to admit I do enjoy all of them 😂

I have tried it with water as well. The ABV wasn't a huge problem with this one and although it chanted slightly, not a ton

Irish always comes across as too delicate for my palate

It’s the funniest of whiskey categories - makes sense as it’s the most interesting. The home of the drink, largest industry in the world, then near total collapse following their war with the British, then latter day resurgence - in that it’s low stuff are often used as an entry level. Then you evolve into other more interesting things and leave it behind, but when you fully become a whiskey head, it’s high end stuff is untouchable by any other category because it so delicate and subtle but brilliant.
It’s either basic. Or the best stuff there is. With little in between at the moment (owing to that legacy of collapse).

This one is straight dole whip. For me it is a little hot and all over the place but it’s a fun dram.

For a few years now irish whiskey all ends up tasting like green apple jolly rancher in a not good way. Tried the different spots, Tullamore, various Red Breast, Writer's Tears, just not for me an Irish decendant.
    Thanks for the review.

I have a similar vibe with unpeated scotch single malt. It all has this note that I can only describe as like smelling a bag of pic n mix movie theater candy. I absolutely loved it the first time I picked it up. But after a few years it so dominants anything Scottish that isn’t masked with peat or one of those terrible blends Scotland does, I lost interest in it.
Will have to go back and see has anything changed in my palate.
