Well, that explains the haunted house in the concept art.
Man, why the holy hell didn't they go for this explanation as to why Shaggy and Scooby leave Mystery Inc?
Scooby ruining the broadcast, and probably getting shouted at later on, is a much better reason than Simon Cowell telling them they're useless.
It makes me angry that they cut this. It perfectly established Mystery Inc's dynamic. They genuinely love Scooby, and they find his cowardice annoying only because their reputation is on thin ice.
If you have more cut material, don't hesitate to show it, man! This is brilliant!

This one scene implies a completely different version of the movie that honestly sounds way better. The ghost hunting with the cameras reminds me of Daphne trying to get real monsters on tape in Zombie island, and this probably would’ve been better for tension in the group instead of Simon Cowell coming out of nowhere to roast shaggy and Scoob. The gang themselves could’ve just been mad at them because their shenanigans ruined their show, which seems to be their actual job in this continuity, which is really interesting. There’s so many awesome things about this update to scooby doo’s story, and it’s a shame they cut it out for…reasons

This is fascinating! Personally, I would have liked to have seen this in the film. Not that I didn't think the childhood origin story wasn't cute, but it might have been nice for SCOOB to have been one of two things:
The gang's origin story - in which we see them first meet as teens and bond through their first mystery together.
    or
The team is established and doing some sort of internet streaming show about haunted places.
The movie that was ultimately released was enjoyable although I think the Blue Falcon stuff should have been saved for its own film. Does anyone know if the HBCU is still a thing?

Grape Ape was in the film until very close to the end of production, Nassos Vakalis and I boarded a version where he fought Cerberus while the combined forces of Captain Caveman, Falcon Force, and Mystery Inc fought an army of cynocephaly- a type of mythical wolfman warrior from ancient Greece.

I'm really sorry you didn't like the final movie, but happy that you at least liked this scene! Animated films take a lot of years to make, and Animation Story Artists are tasked with constantly revising the story based on notes we get from the studio, the executives, or from test audiences. Every single animated film ends up very far away from where we started: some things are cut because of tone, some things are cut because a character ends up playing a smaller role, and sometimes things are cut simply because someone high up just doesn't like something, but there's always a reason. No one sets out to make a bad movie, or to make a good movie worse, it just shakes out that way sometimes!

@@patrickcollins5378 I didn't know that Tony Cervone tried to voice Scooby in this deleted version of the film.
Now that's also very cool and awesome.

@@thefantasticretroreviewer3941 This is just what is known as a “scratch” track, temporary voices so we can make sure that jokes are landing and that all the drama is working, the intention is always to hire a movie star once a sequence is moved in to animation. There are two exceptions to that rule though, Rhino in Bolt was played by Mark Walton (storyboard artist), and Linguini in Ratatouille is played by Lou Romano (production designer)

Even though Frank Welker was too busy voicng the same character in the Scooby Doo franchise, the director of SCOOB! (2020) is voicing Scooby-Doo.
