Been to both many times but Brazil 🇧🇷 is my love but Colombia is way cheaper, not just a little more. Colombia also is more dangerous for foreigners overall, they really do target tourists, Brasil you just gotta keep in the safer places.

For the safety of Colombia I recommend Medellin, Bucaramanga and the coffee region, of Brazil I recommend Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Curitiva and Brasilia.

Been trying to decide which of these two countries I prefer for literally decades . Colombia for me wins hands down as far as nightlife is concerned. BUT Brazil has Rio........... Will be arriving in Sampa in four weeks time for a ten week stay in the country. Can´t wait.

You have server brain damage if you think Colombia nightlife is on Brazils level. There is absolutely NO comparison between the two but for whatever reason people like to compare them. Colombia should be compared more with PANAMA or DOMINICAN

A couple of different thoughts. I think the food is much more diverse and better in Brazil. Also Brazil is much more ethnically diverse. I haven't ridden the buses in Brazil but I've been told the buses are nicer. IMO, Brazil is much more culturally rich. Medellin would be the one city that would stand out in Colombia for me because the weather is favorable when it isn't raining and it is relatively safer than other major cities and also has things to do. I also think the people in Brazil are more welcoming to foreigners and more friendly in general. However, people in Colombia are generally friendly as well.

Most locals in Medellín treated me pretty bad. Huge lack of education and respect over there. And I speak Spanish, I'm an outgoing guy, friendly and respectful.
I think the stereotype about Colombians being friendly and welcoming to foreigners comes from 15 years ago when tourism was just starting to pickup. Nowadays they hate gringos, and I'm not the only one who noticed that

I would say that Brazil is better for non Portugese / Spanish speakers. Brazil is far more used to tourists than Colombia and I think that English will get you further there, atleast in the bigger more turisty cities.
To be honest, I think I used more English in Colombia than Brazil … and I definately knew more words in Spanish than Portuguese when I started 😅

Nah, just letting u know, the Colombian Pacific is unique in the world, u can find "brazilian" beaches in Venezuela, even in Philippines, but never a Colombian Pacific in other places of the Pacific.
Colombia, being 5 times smaller than Brazil, has the Amazon, Andes, Llanos, Caribbean (Atlantic) and Pacific, no other country in South America or even the entire continent has what Colombia has, endemic species, the most beautiful river in the world, snow-capped in a beach, etc. But if u think that Brazil is better just for the number of beaches, okay 🤣

theres San Andres, and in Cartagena you have to take a boat to get to a decent beach. Santa Marta is just not anywhere close to the vibe you would get in Rio.

Brazilian music is unique. "Latin music" such as reggaeton is cheesy and boring. Brasil has Samba, Axé, Bossa Nova, Sertanejo, Forró, Funk, Frevo, Pagode, MPB, Brazilian Bass and many other genres. What about Colombia???
