I am Spanish but I had a Brazilian girlfriend for almost nine years and I visited that country three times but only around Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. I am not only going to visit that part of the South but I am even considering to live there when retired. Economically it is worth, you can live very well with an European pension, at least better than in Europe.

The only big issue of Floripa for me it is transportation. Its an island it could be totally connected by boats, because 90%of the island commerce and industry is near the Beaches. I was just there again for carnival and it is the only city I would live in Brazil. Definitely the best and the safest one.

In Brazil there are many cities that look like a European country, especially in the south and southeast of the country such as: Blumenau, Coritiba, Campos do Jordão, Petrópolis, Gramado, Canela, Joinville, Holambra etc...
But if you just want to see Portuguese architecture in the north and northeast of Brazil, they are perfect for that.

About the aerial cables, you have to remember Brazil developed pretty recently and only slightly so, we don't really had the money for underground public wiring in most places. Plus the installation of these lines electrified most of the country in a matter of decades and we don't need to deal with snow like european countries, so yeah there's no priority in burying the cables when there are much more pressing issues around the country.
On another note, loved the video, Santa Catarina and Floripa are truly wonderful and more people need to know that!
    Cheers from Brazil

By far the bulk of the Portuguese immigration to the State of Santa Catarina was from the Azores islands(mostly from the central group of islands). The bulk arrived in the mid 18th century a full century before the Italians and Germans.

homeless people are there, not because they have no family or home, but because of their drug addiction. It is a problem that unfortunately affects many cities in Brazil, drug addiction and alcoholism. It's like Skid Row and heroin addicts, but in Brazil we have Crack addicts... I think it's a problem that affects many countries in the world and not just Brazil, I heard that in Europe users of heroin and other drugs have also grown.

But these city also have a beautiful part too so I cant portrait that it is all bad. This will be my first trip to Brazil. Now I wish that I were going there. Instead, I'll be going to Rio, Salvador, Ouro Preto and then back to Rio. I declined on Floripa because I though it would be coldish in May and maybe not enough to do. I absolutely love Portugal too so I would have enjoyed that Portuguese village on the island. I live in Florianópolis and I can say it'd worth. But you did good choices. You could try a flight from Rio to Floripa, we have a lot of domestic flights and you could get an interesting price. But in Floripa there is a lot to do, you could spend more than a week here (check out Lagoa da Conceição surroundings). You can't make Brazil at once, I think you will consider a second round after your trip haha. Have fun! Cheers.

Hey please visit Curitiba / Paraná, we have some nice parks and the most beautiful train (Curitiba-Morretes) ride through the "Serra do Mar" in the country. Close to Curitiba there is also the state park of sandstones, the park of Vila Velha in Ponta Grossa. It is worth searching for these points. The coast is very close and we have the beautiful island of "Ilha do Mel", a great tourist and cultural experience.

The Balneário(balneary/watering place) de Camboriú has a similarity with Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro:
Its beaches are 'artificial' as they were extended by man to welcome bathers and distance themselves from the gigantic buildings on the shore.

the state of Santa Catarina is the best state in Latin America without a doubt, it is home to several important companies at an international level such as WEG and BRF (owner of Sadia, Perdigão, etc.), in addition to being the center of tech startups in Brazil surpassing São Paulo. It has very beautiful colonial cities with a high HDI, large theme parks, and well-organized and clean beaches, apart from the lifestyle in contact with nature. I've already researched almost a hundred cities and all the states of Latin American countries, and none of them have this kind of combination between having a great economic potential combined with a healthy lifestyle and in contact with nature.

Nice video, as usual. Still the best produced (editing, picture quality) vlogs on TH-cam that I've seen so far.
The only cringe moment in the video, that I would caution, was the clip with a homeless individual, and the implication that homeless=unsafe. I don't think it's an accurate reflection. It's also possible that it was an unfortunate edit.
In any case, the video is great, and watching you two anywhere is like watching family -- very likable!
