    The problem with those EGR valves is that the insert is made of a different material than the housing itself. The housing heats up and expands and the insert will rotate making the valve hang open, stick closed, or block off flow altogether. The old cast iron EGR valve was fine and is nearly identical in operation except for the positioning system.

      Not really the case guys. QC control is part of your control plans and PFMEA’s in the auto industry. However labor is the biggest issue causing problems for supply chain. Now, we could point the finger at QC, or take a good look at the government regulations into the auto industry with insane epa requirements. Case in point, greener emissions from our trucks. DEF fluid implementation to the trucks for cleaner exhaust, now you’ve got a new manufacturing group for the fluid, packaging, containerization, logistics to move the product to end user us. So did or does the DEF really make a cleaner air based on the process above?

    Yeah, I’m glad I dumped my diesel truck last year. 3500 with the 6.4 Hemi pulls everything I need it to. Usually I’m pulling 6k-10k. So nothing crazy but just couldn’t justify the headaches and high maintenance costs of these newer diesels man. Cummins is a tank though

      I went with a new 6.4 in 2020 and 6 months into I just couldn't do it anymore. Traded it in for a gmc 2500 duramax and only had that for another 6 months before emissions started acting up. Now back to ram with a cummins. I guess we all have our specific needs. I pull a 25ft gooseneck with tree equipment. Loader, small lift, stump grinder, saws, etc. Gas sounds good until you get some real weight behind you. Although if you're using the bed, payload is strong selling point in a 3500

    • @michaellarrick8881
      @michaellarrick8881 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@treeamigo8447 that makes sense man. I think for what you pull, diesel is the way to go. I do agree about pulling over 10k with a gas truck, it starts to get asinine. I mostly pull my dump trailer with landscape materials like mulch , stone, tree limbs, etc and a mowing trailer with 4 mowers so gas works for me. I also do utilize my bed quite often so I like having the added payload of the 3500. And honestly I’m usually in the 9-11mpg when towing so I’m okay with it. The new diesel trucks are just a big headache unless you really can justify having it around!! But it seems like it works well for you

    I posted this on another video. The 2021/22 trucks are having an issue with the EGR eating the ECM. There is a TSB that was issued back in February of 2021. The EGR fails and shorts the circuitry inside the ECM. You can throw a new EGR on it and it'll run for a bit but it will eventually eat the new EGR. My truck went through 3 EGR's before I showed the TSB to the dealer. The ECM needs to be replaced with the EGR to fix the issue. Ive been trouble free for 70,000 miles.

    Interesting. I have a '22 3500 HO Cummins and haven't had any issues however I still have lower miles. I did order a Banks I dash guage to monitor my regen status and soot levels. I did notice something strange. The factory guage for the DPF level showed zero percent however the banks guage showed me that it was about to regen. Sure enough it started to regen even though soot levels didn't register on the factory guage and had I not had the Banks guage nor had the center display set to show the DPF level I never would have known the truck was in regen or about to. This is a major flaw and I can tell you right now without the banks guage to show me what was happening I would have shut off the truck mid regen cycle which I found out takes damn near 20mins to complete.

    The egr system starts to clogged around 60k miles depending on how often you tow with it. Local dealer recommends to remove and soak egr system overnight to clean it at 65k. I took my 2019 ram 3500 HO to swap in cp3 per recall and when they remove my intake manifold and showed me it was starting to clogged at grid heater area. Mine has 68k miles and has a trailer on it 80% of time and no emissions issue yet til what they showed me. I can only even amagine how it it would look if you don't tow with it . Today's diesels you have to tow with them ,if not you will have emissions issue. That's why I have a corolla as my daily driver and my ram only for towing or hauling things. Glad ur shining some light on 22s and I was thinking of trading in my 19 for 22 at one time and now it's worth keeping my 19 and get cp3 update instead at no out of pocket cost. @@shauncollins2017 holy crap. Yeah the dpf showed empty and right after that code popped up it went into regen. Something wasn’t right. Like the dpf sensors weren’t detecting how full it was or something. Runs like a champ now! I’ll be damned if I’m gonna be without a truck while it sits at the dealer waiting on parts. There are no rentals no loaners no nothing they told me. Dealership even recommended me fixing it myself!

    EGR will be a problem, next will be a pcm. Hope the pcm happens under warranty because they're 7k for the pcm only!

    I was going to get a 2019 crew cab dually for a fifth wheel camper trailer but heard bad things about the emissions. Then thought it can't be that bad then 2021 came and looked into it and many complaints still on the emissions. Now on 2022 still...EMISSIONS!! Holly smokes when is dodge going to get it together. Cummins is coming out with a new gasser for the ram in 2 years. They say its going to pull 17000lbs. I use my trucks for hauling toys campers etc. That's going to get alot of buzz their new 6.7 gasser by cummings.

    Paul, can I ask what did your dealer finally do to fix those other trucks, I got one with 2000 miles on exhibiting those issues

      I'm planning on getting the bulletproof egr, and oil separator. I already got all the banks power mods on my truck. These definitely aren't built with the best quality parts, but I bought it for the engine and frame. Not the other shit.

    Cummins is sick of the emission crap they have to bolt on. Makes sense that they are going to be building the gassers in 2024
