    Hey Sam-I’m 17 months into my LAB broomstick and it has absolutely changed the way I feel about putting. I have a unique style/manner of using this putter. Cross-handed with the lead arm pulling the putter through the ball and down my target line. It might not be for everyone but it works exceedingly well for me.
    I am amazed at how much I have improved on the greens in 1 1/2 years. I was yipping so badly that I was ready to give the game up. I started this season as an 11.5 and have worked my way down to an 8.1. Not much has changed with my long-game. I have simply improved on and around the green. My chipping has improved as well (as I believe that I am freeing myself up to not have to get my chips/pitches within 3 feet). I have so much trust in this broomstick that I can get up and down so much more regularly from inside 5-8 feet now. I’m a LAB convert and will never look back!! Next season, my long-game will get some overhauls and I the goal is to get down to a 5. That’s where I was before my putting problems really got bad 15 years ago. I’m almost 63 and have not been this excited to play since I was a young man.

    Just got it out of the box, took 10 balls to decide on a grip and hit 10 six footers 7/10 in the cup, the rest to less than a foot. It just rolls them end over end, nice and easy. Lead thumb on top, lead elbow firm, to the target, below the wrist. Trail hand holding the shaft on plane like a pencil (like drawing a straight line). Love this thing.

    I also Love my Mezz.1 broomstick. Made the purchase last May (2023). Had my instructor (and certified club maker) measure me on the green to get my specs before I ordered. He knew about your company before you took over as owner. It's taken me awhile to grow into the style because (as you noted) there is so little info out there on how to use it. A few videos (Scott McCarron, Bernhard, Scott) and that's about it. I was trying to find what best worked for me when Lucas burst onto the scene. I got to watch him 2 tournaments in a row and learned a lot. I'm beginning to settle into what works for me. Love it!! While Lucas was winning, Fellow golfers were coming up to me on the practice green and asking if I was using the same putter as Lucas, and I jokingly replied, no, he's using the same one as I am. I think we both made the switch about the same time. Putting is soooo much fun now. Confidence is growing. So glad I found you online last April (2023) when I was searching for a broomstick. I have the best one made...and I know it. Thanks LAB golf.

    I switched to the Broom stick lately after just pooping the bed repeatedly on short puts. It has been a game changer!!! Took a lot of practice at first. I went from conventional to Arm lock to Broomstick and BINGO!!! I am locked in.....hopefully for the foreseeable future. Amazing content and putters.

      you're almost there! move on to a face-on/side saddle putter and you'll never miss a short putt again. and it doesn't take a lot of practice to master it. only took me a few hours and doesn't hurt your back.

    Love my Mezz.1 broomstick! Everything you touched on has been absolutely true for me… starting the putt on line, better lag putting and more confidence over the short putts. Had been struggling horribly with the yips and that is all gone now. The weighting and balance on these are so good, just got to get it started and let the putter do the work!

    Just got mine 2 days ago and immediately went to the course to practice with it. I found that my 20-25 foot putts are MUCH closer proximity to the hole. I also noted that the clubhead definitely wants to drop inside and agree you must keep shaft outside to keep the head out there. From five feet and in I could not miss. Was stunned. Agree with you that the firmer grip on short putts allowed me to maintain control of the clubhead, This is as advertised. I used a Bettinardi Kuchar armlock before. This is lightyears ahead of that. Oh, and as a guy whose hands in the morning are sometimes effected by the night I may have had before, and yet there is no sense of yips at all. Just use the pendulum and let it fly. Right hand has SO LITTLE effort. Amazing. Thanks for this video. L.A.B. is legit!

    I bought a DF 2.1 46” broomstick last fall lightly used and had decent success for a few rds before the season ended. Was scared traveling with it during offseason and did ok w std length odyssey….still gave broomstick a chance in spring and struggled w distance and occasionally brushing the ground on way back or through, so put it away…..
    Until: lost in scratch semi’s of match play 2&1 after 6 three putts.
    Brought broomstick back out, found getting my right arm externally rotated until it brushed my torso added stability, and have been lights out since. Shot 70 in tough conditions from back tees yesterday where GIR was more difficult than normal thanks to better than std pitching, but even moreso 25 putts. Started with it two weeks ago as a 4.4 index, now 2.2 and headed lower averaging nearly 4 birdies/rd over 5 rounds. Retiring in two weeks (61 y/o) and excited i might start playing the best golf of my life, thank you L.A.B.
    I AM SOLD!

    Some money tips in here Sam, especially the one for different grip pressure for different length putts! I have been brooming it up for a few years now, closer to the Adam Scott style and have a few of my own that might help some people:
    1. Kind of digging into the minutia here, but I find that if I pack my shoulder blades (the opposite of shrug) it's much easier to use my core and back as the engine and keep all the extraneous degrees of freedom in my upper body steady.
    2. I heard Marty Jertson (PING VP of engineering - also putts with a broom) mention on a podcast that for a while after the anchoring ban he was nervous about how to use the broomstick until he started to purposely anchor, and then remove his chest from the putter head a smidge before he putted, just to make it obvious to himself and everyone else that he wasn't anchoring. I started to do that as a habit during setup, and it has become kind of my "trigger" to go, similar to how some people use a slight forward press motion before putting to start.
    3. Aaron Wise has an interesting right hand position some people might want to explore. He basically does the Adam Scott but hooks the index finger around the shaft instead of running down the side. I feel like it's more stable for me but also encourages a yanking motion - YMMV.
    4. Lastly, I can't reiterate Sam's point enough about just working towards a style of speed control that's more like a gravity driven pendulum. I feel like the LAB technology makes this so much easier and actually encourages it, as grip pressure keeping the face pointing on target is less necessary and can be just enough to keep the putter from falling out of your hands. Then you just feel like the putter head is falling and hitting the ball on the way down.

    • @mrmarcelobernardo
      @mrmarcelobernardo ปีที่แล้ว

      you had me at "pendulum". now try using a face-on/side saddle putter. it is the only way to have a true pendulum stroke and keep the face square thru out the stroke. no open or closed face.

    Love love love my 50” DF 2.1. It’s been a yip destroyer and I’ve even made 85 footers with it. I’ve dramatically cut down on my 3-putts/hole and my SG putting is currently my only positive Arccos stat for my handicap.
    For anything inside 3 feet, I actually go face-on with mine and literally just push the ball directly into the hole. Takes away all the mental “don’t pull it” or “don’t push it” demons out of my mind.

    • @wjhatley
      @wjhatley ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you say "face on," do you mean you face the hole? I don't (yet) have a broomstick, just a regular DF 2.1, but I may try that on 3-footers anyway. Anything to destroy the yips.

      @@mikewilson2695 Not so. You can't anchor the putter against your body and you can't use it "croquet" style (standing astride the ball and putting with the ball between your legs and feet). Face on is really just an extreme version of an open stance.

    Okay, I just spent my first time using the broomstick by L.A.B. Golf. Initially found myself not able to come very close to any of the cups at my usual golf course practice green. After 10 minutes I began to see some improvement as I got used to this very different way to address the ball. 30 minutes later I was able to sink 6 putts in a row from 15 to 18 feet. Never did that before! Still a lot to learn but I am very excited about fully mastering this unique approach to putting.

    I didn’t have the yips. In fact, I was a great putter. I got my DF2.1 in May. It is not a broomstick, but in August I began putting similar to “broomstick style” in that I use my lead side to provide stability and, via a split grip by a couple of inches, my trail side provides the force. September was my most consistent month ever for putting. 24-27 putts per round and 2 three putts for the month. I don’t think it would have worked without the LAB putter.
    Incidentally, my green reading was horrible today and I had 30 putts this morning. My worst round in 6 weeks.

    Very good video...!! Have a LAB Broomstick a couple of months now and like it...!!! I've been using a long putter for a few decades. I always found it interesting that more professionals used them than amateurs. (I think this was because so many club professionals had a negative opinion of them and didn't have them in the shop. I also think the anchoring ban came from the belly putter, I don't think it was aimed at old guys with the yips...IMHO

    So, I am a new and happy owner of a L.A.B Golf broomstick putter. I've probably made 2,000 strokes with it in practice and play so far. I notice that my aiming of putts has gotten a degree better than I've ever had before. On the other hand, I seem to have less control with distance on putts over 14 feet. I am still switching trail hand grips a bit. My greatest flaw with this putter is my inability to hear, or feel, a perfectly struck ball. Often I think I've hit the ball smartly yet my ball will dribble short by 4 feet. And the opposite also happens for me when I think I've stroked very lightly yet the ball slides past the hole sometimes 6 or 7 feet. I'm always asking myself "where's the feel?" I tend to not use my shoulders very much only because it seems awkward. Any advice not covered in your video?

    I have a lab mezz 1 max broomstick. I can’t putt with a short putter no matter how hard I try. I consider myself a pretty good putter with the broom though. Speed control is unmatched as the flow or consistent speed of the stroke is so much better. One criticism that I have with my mezz 1 is the small alignment line. I wish lab made something more appealing to the line with a longer alignment line as it hard to align the face.

    • @labgolf

      @ericfreesmeier8028 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with @DavidStClair-sk9os. I have a tendency to dig into the turf with my Mezz Max Broomstick especially on longer putts or when using the putter from the fringe. So far I have found that hovering the putter off the ground before starting the backstroke helps keep the putter from digging in. But I also know that as I continue to refine my stroke I expect these periodic “hiccups” to go away. I have a regular DF-1 and the design of this head glides over the turf. I may invest in a DF-1 broomstick if the I continue to have problems with the Mezz Max.

      Is that happening before or after impact? We really shouldn't be getting the leading edge of a putter face that close to the ground. If we do, it either indicates an angle of attack that is far too steep (touching after impact) or far too shallow (touching before impact).

    What about ball position?

    • @labgolf
      @labgolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's definitely something you'll want to mess around with, but you'll want to favor a forward ball position as you would a DF 2.1 or a MEZZ.1/MEZZ.1 MAX.

    am i the only one that did not find success with a broomstick? I had mine for 2 weeks and sold it after I tried out a stock conventional df2.1. Now i'm waiting for a custom df lol

    talk about lie angle and length so we can determine what to order...

      @labgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Almost everyone will putt best with a 79.5 degree lie angle. The length is based on your height, style, and setup. If you email getfit@labgolf.com, we'll work with you to film a video and confirm your specs.

    Please ask Sam to put some golf shoes on for the next videos. The slides are distracting and give off a lazy vibe. If he doesn’t take his appearance seriously, it makes me wonder if he takes the product development seriously. Is the science behind the putters real or just marketing? How you do anything is how you do everything.

      You’ve got it backwards! There’s no time to think about my appearance! All the brain power goes to the Putters my man.
      But in all seriousness, I have a legitimate commitment to making the game less stuffy. The privileged uptight vibe is probably the single most impactful issue, preventing growth in the game. I was just in Florida playing at one of the clubs where a lot of the Tour guys play and there is no dress code. I saw two different top 10 players in board shorts and T-shirts. The times are a changing! But I assure you, my appearance has nothing to do with the quality of our putters. Give it a shot.

      @@labgolf haha fantastic response! I will respect your commitment to making the game less stuffy and not get on my soapbox about respecting the company you're going to meet. I belong to a top 100 course and have no dress code as well. T-shirts and sweatpants are fine. And I love playing Goat Hill Park without any shoes at all. I'm probably in the minority here, but the sandals and toes are distracting while trying to focus on your putters during an instructional/educational video. Please put on some Jordan's. Also, I emailed my info yesterday for a remote fitting and will order a broomstick as soon as I get the recommended specs back. Can't wait!

      Typically 4-6 weeks, so you should have it soon. Be on the lookout for a shipment confirmation email.
