Funny story about metal detecting and coins from my experience. This past summer we were detecting in our yard and we found a hoard of pennies at one spot behind the house. Had of been 20 of them. Probably a child before us living there buried them as a ''treasure'' for us to find. We put them back in the hole for future generations to find them. Metal detecting is relaxing to do and a thrill at the same time. Thanks Donnie for the videos.
Back in the 1960s and 1970s my folks and my brother and I lived in a trailer and we would travel from one ghost town to another looking for old bottles and coins and just whatever we could find. Bottle hunting was kind of a fad back then. Mostly we found old bottles, but they had some value. We were pretty poor back in the day, supplementing our groceries with rabbit and wild greens. When my brother was born Dad had a pretty good cache of bottles and an old derringer pistol he had found. He traded this Cache to the Dr. for the delivery of my Brother. We sure had some good times looking for treasure. Lean times but good times. Thanks for sharing Mr. Laws I hope you hit the mother load some day.
Donnie, I have collected coins since I was 8 yrs old. My father was a coin collector and I loved going they his finds. I have passed my collection down to my youngest son. Treasure hunting is a wonderful thing. History left for us to pick up.
Donnie, you hit on a very important thing in this video. It doesn't matter if you're hunting or medal detecting, ALWAYS get the permission of the land owner and leave the property the way you found it. When you respect their property in most cases, they will allow you to come back again. And another thing. If they allow you to come on their property, DON'T bring a bunch of people with you. Sometimes others will return who may have came with you but who haven't been given permission. Land owners don't like that and it can lead to you not being allowed to return. Those are some great old coins and thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend!
Good video! Nice pocket knife too! When I saw it, I immediately thought of the man that lost it. Just how much of a treasure it was for him and how broken hearted he must have been!
Listening to your voice reminds me of my Dad. He was from West Virginia. He knew I liked old coins when I was a youngster and one time he gave me a handful as a present. There were some real good ones in there. V nickels, Indian head pennies, Mercury dimes, and a Morgan silver dollar. I was about 10 years old and I would tell you what happened to those coins, but it would reflect badly on that 10 year old boy. Thanks for your fine videos, I certainly enjoy them.
they sure are some nice finds. I’d hang on to those coins just to have them. that’s the first I seen a 1883 coin though. very interesting Donnie thanks for sharing
Circulating hard money was rare back in the old days and folding money was unheard of. Loved the video, seeing the old coins and being back in the Tennessee woods. Thanks, Donnie, for your hard work on putting out these clips for our enjoyment. Blessings.
Another fantastic video, Donnie. Thank you! My neighbor's grandpa used to farm a field and one day while he was tilling his grandsons were following along behind him and they found an old Spanish coin. I've heard my whole life that DeSoto traveled through the area, so I wonder if one of his group lost it. I also wonder what those boys did with it.
Thank you Donnie, this is an enjoyable little compilation of your metal detecting finds. I especially enjoyed seeing where you’ve put them all together. You have a good many bits and pieces there sir.
Thank you, Donnie, for posting the coin finds metal detecting video. I enjoy finding coins from our nations past. In the late 1990s, my Sister in Law had an upstairs addition installed on her house, and a workman found two Mason jars filled with old silver and copper U.S. coins hidden in the floor boards. Long story short She showed them to me, and She had the coins appraised at over $500. She is the second owner of the house, which was built after WWII. I like that 1883 Indian head Penny. Thanks for keeping it real Donnie.
Good morning Donnie. You have made some nice finds. All the best to you in the new year. Well it’s time to get moving here at the horse farm and get to my chores. Have a great day my friend. God bless

Amazing group of video clips and sharing your collection of finds over the years... enjoy the coin finds but really think the Ole shotgun shells are my favorite as like most hunters it's kinda like a connection to the generations of hunters before us. Thanks again my friend for sharing this wonderful adventure with us and as always may the Lord bless and keep you.😇🇺🇸🦌🦃🦊🦨👍
The modern coin drop on the boulder sure was odd, I wonder what happened for it to end up there. The pocket knife is my favorite find, that's a piece of history you found there! Great video again.
You're gonna have me buying a detector and pin pointer before it's all over. Lol. Down here in Morgan Co, Tn, I have a lot of good old places I could detect.

Great video! I used to do a little metal detecting, found a few old coins at a friend's house who asked me to come over and find a water line that was lost to time. Sad part is the few coins were in a broken jar ( like a half gallon glass jar ) at a site an old barn burnt down around 1880, he had another friend come level his back yard out so that meant however full the jar was, those coins ended up being used for fill in an office building build about 4 miles from him. May have been a couple but may have been a lot. Average Dates were mid 1800s. We found the line also that was put in around 1950, it was about 3 ft away from the broken jar. Take care.
I've always found very old things hidden in the ground fascinating, and I was lucky to find a few old coins, including a Franklin half-dollar, a Morgan silver dollar and a few European and British coins.
