Josh I think you made a bad call here. I can't believe what I am hearing. The oppressed overseas workers who can't leave the country without their emplyers consent. Saudi wives who are forbid to leave the Kingdom, without their husband's consent. That Prince you admire so much had his secutiy team detain a Saudi jounalist in their Embassy and not only murder him but then dismembered his body and cut him into peices all this while his poor fiance was waiting at the gate for him. I could go on about the sports washing etc, But to bring this to an end. Just so, appalled at your morality standards Josh!
Those days are long gone when wives weren’t allowed to leave the country without their husbands permission. I’m sure your country is a champion at human rights 👍
I have checked it's only since 2019 the law was changed . BTW Josh New Zealand does have a pretty good human rights records better than most. For example We were the first counrty in the world to allow women to vote. One of first to legalize Same sex marraiges. The list goes on.
See there you go, you made a false claim, you did some research and figured out that you were talking nonsense. Imagine you sit at the dinner table and spew the same rumours without fact checking. I’m glad you are educating yourself on the matter!
Saudi Arabia has to give more rights to their women if this country wants to become top touristic destination. Your story about a wife in the economy class shows that there are still double standards.
Maybe she preferred NOT to sit next to him. Women in the US may have 'rights' - the right to be treated like a horse, paid less then men and living under a glass ceiling. In almost 200 years, there has not been a woman president. So..., equality? NO
The same rights missing from your own country. Your home country is erasing the identity of women as we speak. Women can’t even get their own toilet and have to share it with men who wear skirts.
As an alcoholic I actually prefer a dry airline as I cannot consume enough alcohol onboard to satisfy my addiction. So I detox for around 2 weeks before a flight
This doesn't sit well with me. Have we lost Josh to the Sam Chuis of the world? Praising the airline is not a problem, im sure its great. Just like other airlines from not so great countries. But to praise the crown prince? The same crown prince who chops up journalists into little pieces in their embassies? Will you praise Kim Jong-un for the "improvements" in North Korea if they start a nice airline? I hope the check was worth it.
I watched the video and I wouldn't put it in the same level as Sam Chui but the vibe is certainly one that doesn't feel like one of the typical videos. I think the key word is authentic - Sam Chui doesn't feel authentic and the challenge with this video is the interactions with the crew etc didn't feel at all authentic.
In fall 2023 there was a great offer with Saudia. Frankfurt (FRA) to Seoul (ICN) via Riyadh (RUH). Return ticket for less than 400 EUR. Booked for March/April 2024. Saudia canceled flights at the end of November and refused to rebook for months. Fairy tales were told on the hotline with costs. In the end I had to fight to get my money back. I will not fly with Saudia in this life. Not even if they give me the flight for free and give me 500 EUR pocket money. I don't want to have anything more to do with this dubious airline.

I am reading a lot of comments about Josh becoming "soft" on his critique of Saudia Airlines. I do believe the staff knew who he was, and treated him with a more than exemplary service, but his review was more focused on the airline's improvements overall. So, those trying to compare him to other less reputable reviewers in a negative way, I think you need to reassess your opinions.
No, I've travelled to China and Canada on a Saudia business class all within the last month; the service he got was consistent with what others would get.
This review looks like a hostage video. Are they holding a family member hostage? That awkward conversation with the flight attendant about her uniform gave me the creeps.
As a very light drinker and a stroke and heart attack patient I prefer not to drink and focus more on the comfort and travel experience and the pleasure of flying with kind attentive crew and of course good food, I agree it looks an impressive airline that will only get better with such a great attitude, thank you for a fun and educational review
I honestly don't understand why people are bashing Josh like this in the comment section... If you've ACTUALLY flown Saudia lately, you would recognise how incredible the service is, especially on-board. It has really come a long way. Saudis used to prefer flying another airline, but now, they actually seek flying Saudia and would pay a premium to do so. That tells you a lot.
i've been in saudia twice and is beautiful, saudi people are also very nice. As a non Muslim i've never be treated badly. I had flight from Jeddah to rome Fiumicino in economy class, the Crew was great like in the video.
Hey Josh I want to say it's nice to see you flying Saudi Air again. Saudi Arabia is one of my favorite countries in the middle east and I plan on visiting this beautiful country.
I swear it’s beautiful to see the change of Saudia. I’ve lived my whole life in Saudi, born and brought up as an expatriate “Saudi” lol and the changes Saudi is going through is just amazing and makes me feel homesick. I’ve travelled beyond countless times in Saudia and had good, bad and terrible experiences, and mostly it was in business class. It was more about luck. And now i can vouch with your video and my own experience recently that it’s GROWING TO BE THE BEST. And now seeing this beautiful change IM SUPER HAPPY AND PROUD TO SAY about my “home” and its airline with its beautiful growth for bringing the best to the world. AND KUDOS TO THE CROWN PRINCE ANS HIS INITIATIVE FOR THIS AIRLINE. God bless it forever.
I don't get it, when Josh posts a negative review he gets hammered he's just about clicks. Now he posts a positive review and he's getting pushback from some viewers. Was he recognized?. Probably, he's a well known professional traveller and can't help it if a crew member recognizes him. I don't think it influenced his review which I found to be balanced. He's already replied clarifying he fully paid for this flight. I also don't think his comment about Saudi Arabia being an upcoming destination means an endorsement of the political system in the country, it's just a thought shared with his audience. To think otherwise means he just wouldn't be able to fly many airlines due to political sensitivities, this is a travel community, not a political one.
I believe the majority of the comments are pertaining to the controversial statements made by Josh during this video, such as bringing politics into the equation. He may be complimenting the positive growth of Saudi, but praising the crown prince, one who is responsible for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in broad daylight, isn't something that sits well with many people (myself included). It is an event that had even attracted global attention so I don't see how Josh wouldn't have known about said event. In the past, Josh also would keep politics aside as mentioned in many of his videos. As for paragraph 2, I agree that crew recognizing travel vloggers on their flights is something that is inevitable and its influence on the videos cannot be controlled by the travel vloggers themselves. However, the amount of flirty convos the crew and Josh had was cringeworthy to say the least. It was worse than in his EL AL business class review.
@@axan50transportproductions By that way, we cant be praising many of the first world country leaders really. They've ordered far worse to happen in the middle east.
The airport looks stunning, the 787 cabin concept looks like EGYPTAIR. No Saudi wife will stay in Eco while her children and husband are in business class, definitely it is the maid.
Wow. That endorsement of the Govt and Crown Prince at 4:00 min mark truly deserves for you to be cancelled. There is no way you are not aware of the Crown Princes human rights violations. Why would you say such nice things about him and the Govt? No excuse
Oh stop being so woke. Cancelled? Get a grip. If you don't like someone's opinion, then move on. "Cancel culture is the best weapon the powerless possess".

I'm happy to see Saudia soft and hard product - both ground and in air have improved so much. This video has convinced me I should give them a try. Thanks for be so informative right down to the amenity kit.
Beautiful flight review Josh, I would not mind to fly a dry airline as I base my flight review on the service, cleanliness and the whole experience in a whole. I also love the new livery and prefer it than the older one. The amenity kit is mind blowing 🎉, it's giving you all the necessary items you would need for a long flight and I do appreciate it. Saudi is growing and would not mind visiting the country as it is in my bucket list..
I like the video! Saudi is growing as a country. No country is perfect but Saudi is improving and this also really fast! I would happy to win the kit! And I also wanna travel soon there and see how it’s changing there. So many people can judge what they didn’t see.
I don't really care if an airline is dry or not. As long as the catering, service, and IFE is good, I'm happy. Besides, I have a hard time sleeping if I've had a drink or two and while flying, a bit of shut-eye is appreciated
My first airplane ride was on a Saudia 747-168 from Manila to Riyadh. I was 8 years old. Seeing that old retro livery brought back fond childhood memories. I’d really love to have that amenity kit with the retro colors ❤
The dry airline thing is daft, if you need to drink alcohol on a flight and won’t consider an airline that doesn’t serve it you have a problem. Service onboard looks excellent, no need for the alcohol to say it’s 10/10!
Nothing wrong with a dry airline as it could potentially reduce issues of intoxicated and unruly passengers. It's very rare that I'll have a drink when I fly anyway so I would have no issues flying Saudi
My mom used this company before, and she was shock by the evolution ! In a good way.. Its good to see a company that evolved to offer a better services, and the crew look amazing
I adore this airline . Used it from Dubai to Kenya using businesse class and my oh my , the whole experience was simply magical. There AlFursan lounge is a bliss , food was amazingly good , only that its a dry airline.(no alcohol served), service was amazing , and yes, on time . 10/10

Nice to see the Norwegian brand Sprekenhus featured as part of this amenity kit. Interesting choice of brand as they are probably not very well known outside of Norway
I love the way you have done comparison of their performance over the last few years. Through your deep and through analysis, i can say Saudia airlines can be a perfect example of a case study on performance improvement topic in any business school.
Hi! On sunday I got back from my trip to France. I flew Air France business class round trip. I was celebrating my 50th birthday. I told the crew on the way down and I expected at least a key rig... nothing, and on the way back, being giving the amenity kit, I asked the hostess a new one, but, NOT another one, just a different colour one... she made me feel like a beggard... for a lousy Air France amenity kit that's got nothing to do with the one Josh got, and considering those destinations are not that appealing to me... well, I could only hope for one day getting one of those in Western routes. Bye!
Please don't ever call Saudia Crew average. I worked for them in the 80TH and we were anything but. We were pioneers in a country that was still very restricted, especially towards women. We were never average, we were adventurous and we worked hard.
I flew Saudia out of Jeddah for the first time ever and I was prepared for a good trip based on your previous video flying them. Our flight was delayed by 5 hours and they had an employee at the gate handing out snack packs for the customers. That there is a world class move and something you would never see in the United States. I wish I could have flown Saudia for a longer flight than just 1.5 hours. I love the video and couldn’t agree more!
Nice ad for the Saudi dictatorship.... Shame Josh endorses these kinds of governments. This is almost like travelling to North Korea and praising them. Had to give a thumb down on this video.
Thanks josh for the review. this guy visited Saudi 3 times and he saw how the country progressing in every aspect especially the tourism with 650% increase
Oh Josh, you've ruined your credibility. Why would you mock Sam for years after making a video with him and then go and do the exact same thing you bashed him for? Whilst trying to look genuine? Thank god for Noel!
Hey Josh I am big fan, but I think your comments about the amenity kit on Saudia are off the mark. If Saudi Airlines aims to promote their country, why would they feature brands like Bulgari or Lalique, which are not from Saudi Arabia? These brands are associated with other countries. Saudia should focus on promoting its own brand and showcasing local products instead of featuring items from foreign companies. Just my thought……. But I really appreciate your blunt and truthful approach in your airline reviews. It’s refreshing to see someone who isn’t afraid to call out the inconsistencies, like when discussing about each airline. Great job on all your reviews
Keep in mind that in Saudi Arabia, women are stil, regarded as property and second class citizens. They fly economy because she isn't deemed worthy enough by her husband, who probably works for one of the hardliners in government, and makes his wife fly economy because cargo wasn't an option.
A true example of a brain washed from west media. It's not at all like this here. Women are respected the most in this country. Women rights are still better than west here. Stop believing anything you hear on the Internet. This is one of the safest countries for women to live in.
hi Josh, like others I'm a bit confused about this one. I'm one of your regular viewers and really appreciate the hard, hard work that goes into what you do. I particularly want to commend you on the way you have built a reputation of giving fair reviews - if it's poor, you'll call it! If it's good, you also tell us. But this one just felt ... well, it felt off. My most generous take is that you were genuinely blown away by how much everything has improved (and, to be fair, what you've filmed looks like a vast step up from the previous) but you were perhaps a little too gushing in your praise. And refreshingly naive about what sort of response you'd get by praising the Crown Prince so vigorously. But I don't want to jump to any conclusions. Perhaps a follow-up video from you explaining what was going on? Can you at least understand why some of us are a little confused? It's just not the Josh that we know.
It’s always when it comes to Saudi Arabia you guys make a full scene honestly, why would you all do this? Just focus on the riots and the lack of safety and the piling trash in your streets before saying anything really
Interesting how many are aggressively questioning Josh's credibility just because he documents a good experience with Saudi. Some people just cannot stand other parts of the world are developing while their countries' are stagnant. I fly saudia literally 10+ times a month, locally and internationally for work, everytime I need to use another airline, i automatically miss saudia hospitality.
About 25 years ago I flew from BKK (now DMK) to RUH and although very cheap, and despite the cabin crew being quite friendly, I really did not enjoy it at all. You can imagine my feelings when I had to go there again last year and the company gave me a ticket on Saudia... I was NOT pleased... BUT I got a very pleasant surprise when I boarded - it was a very clean and modern aircraft and the crew seemed very genuinely helpful and professional. It was a good flight and despite not being able to buy alcohol, it was genuinely a world class flight and a good airline. During the month there, working with a local TV company covering the Saudi Pro League games, the company provided tickets for all our domestic flights on Saudia, and all were very definitely acceptable. Re your soup - check the timing - from the time it was delivered until you tried it, there was a delay of at least 3 minutes - and in a wide open bowl with cool air-con, it would get cold pretty quick - so the issue might not be that they didn't heat it, but that they served it at the correct temperature for you to eat it without being scalded... so several minutes later.... it's not warm.
I hope in the near future the country will open up more and make it easier to travel within the countey so much history and so much to explore in saudi.
Compare that to your last experience, it's night and day. It's nice to see these airlines being reviewed as well. Product looks fantastic and hopefully can fly them one day (economy of course!). That amenity kit also looks so good! Wouldn't mind having that!

Fawning over the crew, uniforms, how handsome they are. You like the new airport and fleet and menu, all good- it's your gig. But way over the top with nauseating praise. And gushing over Crown Prince MBS was bizarre.
Yes, I thought that as well. I wonder if Josh actually paid for this flight himself OR was it complementary from the Saudi regime ? 🤔
Yes I paid for the flight myself :)

Saudi Arabia has to give more rights to their women if this country wants to become top touristic destination. Your story about a wife in the economy class shows that there are still double standards.
In a country where Wives are property not partners
Maybe she preferred NOT to sit next to him. Women in the US may have 'rights' - the right to be treated like a horse, paid less then men and living under a glass ceiling. In almost 200 years, there has not been a woman president. So..., equality? NO
It’s called religious segregation, and Orthodox Jews do it as well. If you as a man are not related to a woman, why would you want to see them?
Can you not think bad for once? Maybe she passed her seat to her kids so they can enjoy their trip?

It’s great to see an airline get better over time. And the way the employees took pride and ownership of their jobs to keep the airline successful.

😂
Very objective review Josh despite the large number of haters comments. Thank you for shedding light on our national carrier.

Just a bunch of haters.
the amenity kit really looks stunning😍 and ya saudia has improved a lot
i've been in saudia twice and is beautiful, saudi people are also very nice. As a non Muslim i've never be treated badly. I had flight from Jeddah to rome Fiumicino in economy class, the Crew was great like in the video.

Also yea Josh, thank you for this beautiful video! And after your video SAUDIA revealed their first and business check in terminal!😅amazing man!
I honestly don't mind it at all. What a beautifully organized airline. Beautiful colors on the plane and their uniforms are gorgeous.

I'm happy to see Saudia soft and hard product - both ground and in air have improved so much. This video has convinced me I should give them a try. Thanks for be so informative right down to the amenity kit.
They told Josh that he better make a positive video about Saudi Arabia or he would end up dismembered in the Saudi embassy in Berlin.
Josh, I prefer the sandy colour top livery, it is iconic and distinctive. And being a dry airline reduce the chance of passenger misbehaving. Thanks.
THAT GREEN SQUARE GREEN THING IS FOR THE LUGGAE HANDLE TO IDENTIFY YOUR LUGGAGE
Yep, you wrap it around the handle. It is softer. Also good for 2 handle bags: you strap them together

I don't really care if an airline is dry or not. As long as the catering, service, and IFE is good, I'm happy. Besides, I have a hard time sleeping if I've had a drink or two and while flying, a bit of shut-eye is appreciated
You have no clue what those women had to endure to get you your amenity kit with a smile.
Those women are considered property.
Aah, a fascist spotted.
My first airplane ride was on a Saudia 747-168 from Manila to Riyadh. I was 8 years old. Seeing that old retro livery brought back fond childhood memories. I’d really love to have that amenity kit with the retro colors ❤
This video… nah , tell us you are paid.. sounds like Sam Chui

The fact that Saudis has improved so much, prior to the entry of competition, is proof positive that competition is vital to consumers

They fly economy because she isn't deemed worthy enough by her husband, who probably works for one of the hardliners in government, and makes his wife fly economy because cargo wasn't an option.
well said
Cargo wouldn't be practical, because she needs to take care of the kids! 😄
A true example of a brain washed from west media. It's not at all like this here. Women are respected the most in this country. Women rights are still better than west here. Stop believing anything you hear on the Internet. This is one of the safest countries for women to live in.
Those were my thoughts too (in general).
Yea, you have lived there so you would know :)
You make all the difference in flight reviews, Thank you for the knowledge and fun.
hi Josh, like others I'm a bit confused about this one.

I envy you! I would fly them in a heartbeat!
