    the Equinox is the definition of an appliance. Nothing wrong with that, we need cars like that too

    I had a base model as a rental for a week during a work trip. Your take is much nicer than mine was. Everything about that vehicle felt like it was punishing me.

      Interesting. I’ve rented this many times and didn’t mind it. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

    We have one of these for one of our work vehicles. I find the ergonomics not very comfortable as well. Especially the angle the my ankle is on the has peddle lol.

    The bias if amazing, the turn signal is cheap, you don't like the shifter. LOL. The base engine is on par with all the other base engines in this category. People like the car, because it is a well rounded vehicle that does everything needed and looks good.

      There is nothing "well" about an Equinox other than the fact that they have a shelf life of a gallon of milk. You can't even lean on the "buy American" anymore. I is good at being a steaming pile of a disposable lease vehicle and that's it.

    One reason to choose an Equinox over the Rogue, CRV, Rav4, and Escape is that the Equinox doesn't have a CVT transmission. I am amused that you both want to redline an Equinox, when it's not a vehicle meant for that. It's what you described...a minivan posing as a crossover vehicle.
    I saw an Equinox LS for $22K brand new here in the Austin area. With car prices as they are, that's a pretty good deal. The new Equinox coming out later this year looks nicer, but the non-AWD version is a CVT...bleh.
    I did have the Cruze Diesel hatchback, and it was a fantastic engine. The torque really made it seem faster and more powerful that it probably was. I easily got 48mpg in mixed driving, and on the highway got up to 60mpg, with me getting 600 miles on a tank of fuel. I wish GM put that 9sp transmission in all their vehicles. I found it did a pretty great job at shifting. I wish GM didn't abandon diesel engines.

    Nice job! A heated steering wheel is a spoiled must for me now -- it seems the "imports" don't care about that option or you have to buy the top trim level.

    While I can’t stand anything Chevy besides the C8 & Camaro ZL1, my fiancée and her family have always been “Chevy Enthusiasts”, as I prepare to get rid of her Impala (which surreally serves her well @ 200k+ miles) for a GV70. Her first car in college 20+ years ago was a Malibu and her parents currently have a brand new fully loaded Equinox. 😂

      Yeah I am with you - I was die hard Chevy and lots of other GM stuff from decades gone by, and some things all the way up until about the time of bankruptcy, but they make nothing today that I want. Their best years are behind them in my opinion. They used to make some fantastic vehicles (and of course some not so good ones as well). But today's offerings - my 4Runner and Camry hybrid far exceed anything GM can offer me today. However, nothing at Chevy will change as long as "enthusiasts" keep buying them because that's what they always done. I personally got tired of having to go back to the dealership time and again for what I call "GM things". Squeaks, rattles, creakings, and a whole pantry full of all manner of quality issues. I know every manufacturer has its issues, but the last 4 GM products I have owned frankly, frustrated me.

  • @thegraggs
    @thegraggs ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Hope the maturity level improves in the testing. Must be that time of the month for one of you. Jacking seat up then down, sliding back and forth like a 6 year old, scratching car material’s repeatedly, doesn’t like this touch or feel, can’t get comfortable, constant snarky remarks of a preteen. Final remarks….”the most basic car that made you not want to drive”, yes some people can’t afford the Volvos, Genesis, etc that are also tested. Testing basic cars is part of the job. Cars should be tested objectively for their perspective buyers. The equinox is targeted as an entry level SUV and for fleet rentals. If testing basic cars make you not want to drive anymore, maybe you need a new career?

    • @johnpackard1614
      @johnpackard1614 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      At least these two actually "review" the SUVs unlike other channels that only regurgitate all the specs

    • @thegraggs
      @thegraggs ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@johnpackard1614 some of the test comments are good. But performance evaluation based on flogging through on ramps and cutting off traffic isn’t factual information. If for example if I tested BMW’s and Infinity’s but then complained about the entry level Chevrolet SUV, it’s not the same target market. Final review said the Chevrolet Equinox was whatever and fine, isn’t exactly a professional opinion.

    • @SpudForceable
      @SpudForceable ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They're a lot nicer to this car than I would have been. The Hyundai Tucson, Mazda CX50, Kia Sportage are all in the same price range and they are all vastly superior.

    • @thegraggs
      @thegraggs ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SpudForceable I agree with you on the surface. Provided Hyundai and Kia have stepped up on engine, fire and other long term quality issues. My criticism is more at the professionalism of the review. You can read into the other reviewers attempts at steering his partner’s responses back into focus. The review should be focused on what you get based on its target market and not because the last Volvo you drove had this or that.

    • @barbs1298
      @barbs1298 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpudForceable That may be true, however the Equinox most likely appeals to slightly older individuals who may not like all of the fancy technology like w/the KIA Sportage. The KIA Sportage screen is nice, but the lack of knobs that are separate for climate & for the radio are a bit annoying. Could easily confuse & frustrate a certain group of consumers even though the KIA looks better & has more to offer. The downside to that however is the potential of things to break & the cost in fixing them & lots of grille area to clean which could be difficult. I would hate to get into in accident w/all of the sensors & cameras although those are supposed to prevent that. However, it's the proverbial other guy you have to watch out for who may not have those fancy accident prevention features.

    Too much laughing and immature chatter. I prefer more professional, objective reviews that spell out the pros and cons of a vehicle.
