One thing I noticed about the Reapers is that they are a walking biomechanical tu quoque fallacy. Just as you described within the first 4 minutes, the Reapers only exist to keep organic life from creating super advanced machines from wiping out organic life, they too were created by organics, and through the process of harvesting organic life, are selectively wiping out organics. @@Big_Shay that one too. Haven’t played any of them in so long but I used to play it with my bro a lot. That one was definitely a good memory in my childhood
i only really love the 2nd one, that one's a classic. 1 is merely good atleast now wit the remake on the legendary edition cuz the original's trash. & 3 is merely great but a huge step down from 2. i still like those games but they don't match me2.
I just watched a video summing up the Halo franchise like this, and I have to say, it's surprising how similar a lot of the story is. Precursor civilizations who want to and have wiped out civilizations, and unknowing pawns used as villains until the puppeteer villains show up. Although, this one has much more cooperation and Halo has much more "all aliens are evil" to the story.
Im not too familiar with the Halo story so it's interesting to know how similar their stories are, i may have to play the Halo series sometime and experience it for myself as i loved the story in ME! Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏
@@GamerGrade I've never actually played the games before, I mostly looked it up because I like Red versus Blue. Here, this is the recap I watched, if you want it: th-cam.com/video/y6DtLNPet0k/w-d-xo.html
This was one of the best trilogies I've ever played in my life. I was fully immersed in Mass effect in those years. The beginning of Mass effect 3 was probably the most jaw-dropping oh s*** moment in my video game career. I was talking so much s*** about how they didn't listen. I was not wanted a gamers who was mad about the original three choices, it all made sense to me. I only went through the trilogy once and I chose the green light. I have refused to let Shepherd die. Also I think like the majority of players at the end of the second Mass effect I mean who didn't blow the base up? The elusive man was a dick
I hope to God the Remaster rumors are true!! It's past time one of the most epic trilogies in gaming history made it to the 8th gen and hopefully the 9th as well!!
ME3 Ending could be epic if your choices along the three games actually had an effect. This is what I think angered most of fans. Even so, the trilogy is a must play. It's a beatiful and incredible experience, with good replay value.
Haha yeah 100% agree, disgraceful what they tried to pull off after such an epic twisting story! They should have spent a few months really fleshing out the ending that such a masterpiece deserves. Its almost like they just couldn't be bothered lol, which is gutting after being so invested emotionally. As you rightly mention, the whole main story experience is so mind blowing especially at the time, a rushed ending i suppose, is forgivable.
Thank you for the positive feedback William, glad you enjoyed! I agree, one of the most deep and moving stories ever experienced in gaming history :) I hope they bring back the love and passion this series deserves if they ever decide to make another one.
I have not played any of the games in this trilogy but wanted to learn about the backstory before I played Andromeda. Thanks to the trial, which I really enjoyed, I decided to get Andromeda.Thank you for this vid and God Bless.
Dude play the original triology, you won't regret. I played the triology in 2016-17.Wish I played it before as I could have been in the fan base during its prime time.
Im playing andromeda completely blind to the series as a whole and my god this game is good. I just experienced the part where i learn that the milky way is gone and where i learn about the reapers and etc. I thought it was a good time to watch a video like this and my god. This is one hell of a freight train to get hit by out of nowhere. A+ story so far.
Yeah i agree, the story is mindblowing. When an epic story is implemented perfectly into a theme such as space exploration and time travel, the resulting experience is exponential. I seriously hope they pour as much passion into ME4! Enjoy :) 🍻
Yes this is fantastic news. However, i really hope the creators give it the love, attention, and passion it deserves, and not just another Andromeda cash in. Otherwise i have no interest. I pray that this will be the case 🙏
I've never played any of the Mass Effect games in my life. I just pre-ordered Mass Effect: legendary edition and decided to look for videos explaining the lore so that I know what to expect. I hope the gameplay is great when it comes out
Mass Effect is by far one of the best games ive ever played. However it was based on a very old engine released in 2004 (Unreal Engine 3) 17 years ago. Unfortunately the devs are not updating the engine its based on for the upcoming Legendary edition, so gameplay will most likely still feel dated. Make sure to bear this in mind when playing it, and try and engage in the breath taking story and setting that truly deserves your time and attention. Hope you enjoy :) 🍻
I feel like the reapers were the thanos' finger snap, we all see it as something horribly bad, then we reflect about it and see the logic behind it yet it is still somewhat cruel.
They should have just stuck with the Indoctrination Theory, which I still believe they were setting up and abandoned. It had the potential to be so much more awesome than the bland endings we got. Also, you didn't have to die at the end of ME3. If you had your rating high enough and chose the right ending, it would show a cutscene of you waking up in a pile of rubble in London. I've done it, so I know it's possible.
It's only available on the best version of the "Destroy" ending. You have to max out the military rating that the game uses (you get military readiness points or something like that by helping factions, doing side quests, doing main quests, finding special resources, and playing multiplayer), and then choose to destroy the Reapers.
Gamer Grade; Thanks for the intro. I wasn't that familiar with the story until now. I have been wanting to fine something I could sink my teeth into so to speak.
I was literally depressed after I beat the third game. I played 1 and 2 probably 15 times each. The 3rd I played one time and I was so disgusted with the ending I never played it again. I did beat the DLCs and the extended endings but it really didn’t add enough to wash the taste out of my mouth.
Yeah most fans felt the same, the passion seemed to be lost by the end 😡 However, as long they they nail it with the remake, like Capcom did with RE2, then ill be happy.
Thank you Matt much appreciate the positive feedback :) The most epic story in gaming history, one that will go down as legendary and will never be forgotten!
having never played this series, id like to sya you did an excellent job. 30 minutes was about perfect length, and you know the subject matter well. why play games when years later you can watch recaps videos! lol thx man, subbed!
You are very welcome Koaasst, thank you for your encouraging comment 🙏 Glad the video was helpful for you, the gameplay doesn't hold up well if you play the games now and feels very dated, but its still one of the best sci-fi stories ever devised in gaming, so you are right, a video is sometimes the best way to get informed! Your subscription is very much appreciated, thank you, its great to have you onboard :)
Because you can make different decisions. Like you can never use the genophage/use it. You don’t have to kill the rachni queen, you could make peace between Geth and quarians or choose a side. You also miss the multitude of side stories that span all 3 games. For example you could help this Asari diplomat with family issues in ME1. You see that exact person in me2 get killed by thane because she herself was corrupt. There is also so many romances you can have. Basically the story telling of andromeda is no match for the original trilogy. This video is the short and sweet version. You need to play the trilogy because it’s a 120 hour story combined. (I’ve timed it).
@@zachrhinehart Spot on i remember playing the trilogy well and all the branching decisions that affected the lengthy story deeply, nothing has really topped ME in this department to date. Like many ME fans I had such high hopes for Andromeda, but maybe too high, as i dont think any studio could have met them (sorry for the delay your comment was with held for approval and i only just noticed lol).
Great Video. What do you think about my opinion about the ending? "Refuse" was the true ending in my opinion. Cycle was on going for millions of years, something different needed to happen, and what is more unexpected thing to do then by not being selfish at the moment like that but being careful to make sure that the galaxy to defeat reaper would be ready to move in a different a positive direction for a all living things. By acknowledging that shepard's universe was still not ready...acknowledging that galaxy that were at war before reapers in action would ultimately become reapers. Also showing true freedom in complicated balance of wisdom/understanding for future generations. For example Prothean shown great wisdom, but they locked them selves into primitive believe, without acknowledging how powerful and important emotions meant to survive and for life to bloom in galaxy. I think that ending ultimately brings out complicated human kind of a positive emotions as an ultimate weapon to bring galaxy to a peace, and it makes all the work done those who created reapers, and those who bring all the knowledge bit by bit by every generation into place for that to succeed.
They should have made a Mass Effect 4 with that as a playable option. Playing a story based on the complete perspective of the Reapers would have been epic!
Great summary of the whole trilogy! Love it and learned how great the trilogy is! So good I thought it was in league with trilogies like LOTR or Star Wars. To all fanboys, its just my opinion! Im not insisting Mass Effect is better than either trilogies.
You know, an option to free the collectors from reaper control would have been nice. Since Harbinger was controlling them the whole time. The condition should be saving everyone in the final mission and having really high paragon/renegade stats (saving a dangerous reaper enhanced race, but they were essentially slaves). Having them in ME3 gets you the human reapers heart and brain and there ships , but Javiks required to do it
@@GamerGrade thanks for the response. I just seems like taking a bet on the collectors helping if the reapers do show seems like a good gamble. If nothing else, they now have to retake the outpost from an occupying force and that should divert their attention
Such an awesome video bro 👍 what’s amazing about this video and with no diss to you but it does such an perfect job at explaining the plot of the game but this doesn’t even touch the story arcs of all the characters relationships with Shepard. Such a thick story and tale it’s ridiculous lol
Thanks for your positive feedback, much appreciated! I agree, the Mass Effect universe has so much depth a 30 minute video can never do it justice, just a story recap lol. However, for people that havent experienced the depth for themselves even this 'quick' recap blows them away! Lets hope and pray Bioware can find their feet again and make another gem true to their passion.
It was one of my earlier videos and my narration (and recording equipment) has improved a lot. Still learning this game of TH-cam! Thanks for clicking and trying though brother 🙏
Is Mass Effect worth playing in 2020? I bought the first 3, and of course started with 1 but I really don’t like the controls, so I watched a few story explanation videos to get an understanding of the story and go straight to 2
I dont recommend playing ME1 at this time as it hasnt dated well in the gameplay at all. I would indeed skip to number 2 which was much improved over 1! Enjoy the game my friend 👍
This reply is 3 months after you posted your original comment... but ABSOLUTELY. I recently played all 3 in order, having only played ME2 several years ago. I agree the gameplay in ME1 is not stellar by today's standards, but if you ask me, it's worth playing for the decision making, story, and character development. I too didn't like the control/gameplay of ME1, but it's worth sticking through to the end. And if you can't bring yourself to finish ME1, there's DLC for ME2 which allows you to make the important choices from ME1 without having to play through the game. I just finished the trilogy and it's amazing. The best story to one of the best game series ever made. Even though the endings in 3 were a little disappointing, the trilogy as a whole is ABSOLUTELY worth it.
I didn't like playing the first game because the omni-gel and the hacking and the classes only had specific weapons and armor they could use. So if you were a person who liked to use assault rifles then there were only two classes you could pick. And the sniper rifles were a pain to use. I am normally a sniper type of gamer but in the first game it was impossible to hit the enemies with the sniper rifle as there was NO way to steady the aim, you had to time your shot perfectly. And while you were waiting for your shot other enemies walked up to you and shot at or hit you. I kinda want them to remake Mass Effect one with the same graphics and controls and newer tech that ME3 has. Including hairstyles and Eye color and the ability to choose your own armor colors.
Agreed the original has many dated features which need to be improved and brought up to date, if they remade it from the ground up improving everything but retaining what we love still giving us everything we 'remember' about its amazing universe, that would no doubt be a remake at the top of my most wanted list. We can only hope...
Yes the concept, ideas and story was just as epic as the original trilogy, exactly what we'd expect from Bioware! How did you find playing Andromeda, did you enjoy it and complete it recently?
Yes i agree that would be great! The Witcher has been made into a series so im definitely looking forward to seeing how that translates? Although the only real important thing is that the director has the vision and passion to create something the fans can deeply relate to, whether that be film, series or fingers crossed, another game. If that doesnt exist, as was shown with Andromeda, then its a complete waste of time and money.
Good job .. really hope the Mass Effect remaster is happening in s few weeks.. i can't believe EA would allow the story to continue if it wasn't true.. unless they're just being cruel
Yeah im pretty sure its true! I dont mind waiting a while if it means they do an excellent and passionate job. There's no other game series i can think of that deserves all the love, attention and care, to bring back to life 😍
it's frequently pronounced throughout the original trilogy 😂 It's weirdly difficult watching this video and thinking "Pro-the-AN" I wish TH-cam would allow a quick audio swap for pronunciation in videos whenever they're missed on the final take 😭 (Pretty good lore overview btw 👌 nice and comprehensive)
Option A, screw your war assets, you still die and loose. Option B: screw you, you still die and eventually turn on civilization as the new Reaper. Option C: screw you, you still die and take away the rights and the diversity of all life both organic and synthetic alike and turn them into a single unwilling twisted abomination of "life" without the consent for the joining of existence. Option D: screw you still die. And so does all life in the galaxy. Option E: Install a mod that completely makes the vanilla ending pointless
Maybe you guys should stick to CoD or Forknite. Andromeda was better the some things and lacked in others same as all the others before it. The first games in the series tends to be dull because its the opening/
@@stuart3712 That's our fucking opinion. If we don't like Andromeda then we don't. Why is your ass hurting about it? I thought the game was ok until the ending came around. I just don't like the game and comparing ME top cod or fortnight is pretty stupid. Try fallout or Borderlands.
Yeah you do have to turn a blind eye to some aspects of the story, but overall the experience is still unmatched. However, me personally thought the series deserved a proper remake rather than just a remaster to bring it in-line with current gen, due to the dated feel of the originals which remains in the remasters.
That decision at the end of the first game is bullshit for how people judge you. Save the council of three people or save a ship-full of like, 3,000 people. They claim you're a racist for saving more lives just because they were human. I was just going on Vulcan logic: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."
Yeah i agree it does suck as it just seems rushed with not much thought for the player experience and closure. However, it was more about the journey with this game, and what an epic journey it was! 🍻

Ikr! I kinda want to join the military (still underaged) or be in the navy! I know it wouldn’t be the same, but it still seems like it would be good
@@Big_Shay that one too.
Great thanks for the share, looks interesting, will check it out! 👊
Damn i hope so too!! 😍
@@GamerGrade Not only because of the characters. There is a lot of morale themes
Amazing! This game changed my life, how refreshing to hear the story told back to me!
Thank you for the positive feedback William, glad you enjoyed! I agree, one of the most deep and moving stories ever experienced in gaming history :)
I hope they bring back the love and passion this series deserves if they ever decide to make another one.
Thanks for commenting and watching!
I need an HD trilogy remake on current consoles
Likewise!!
Your wish has been granted...hello from the future by the way 😁😁
I have not played any of the games in this trilogy but wanted to learn about the backstory before I played Andromeda. Thanks to the trial, which I really enjoyed, I decided to get Andromeda.Thank you for this vid and God Bless.
You are very welcome wufako glad the video was helpful, no doubt you will enjoy Andromeda a lot :)
I'd rather buy the trilogies.
Dude play the original triology, you won't regret. I played the triology in 2016-17.Wish I played it before as I could have been in the fan base during its prime time.
now i need to replay the series, shitttttttttttttttttttt
awesome video dude. very well explained. i love the mass effect series as does my daughter! nice 1 ☆☆☆☆☆
Thanks Den! The best video game sci-fi story ever devised :)
Enjoy :) 🍻
I couldn’t sleep wondering about it. I’m at that part right now. I felt silent when I learned about the milky way
Looks like we are getting a new Mass Effect to maybe look for Commander Shepherd!
Yes this is fantastic news. However, i really hope the creators give it the love, attention, and passion it deserves, and not just another Andromeda cash in. Otherwise i have no interest. I pray that this will be the case 🙏
When video games have better writers than most movies today.
I just hope they can re-produce this level of story telling with ME4? 🤔
I've been a fan of M.E from the start this should be movies or even a tv series
Couldn't agree more Matrix Coder, that would be awesome!
I feel like the reapers were the thanos' finger snap, we all see it as something horribly bad, then we reflect about it and see the logic behind it yet it is still somewhat cruel.
Indeed! Sometimes sacrifice is needed, for the greater good 👌
You have Earned my subscription.
Excellent work.
Thank you very much JayGameTech! Great to have you onboard :)
Thanks for the clarification, i didnt know about that ending! So what happens to the Reapers with that ending?
It's only available on the best version of the "Destroy" ending. You have to max out the military rating that the game uses (you get military readiness points or something like that by helping factions, doing side quests, doing main quests, finding special resources, and playing multiplayer), and then choose to destroy the Reapers.
Cool thanks for the explanation! Shame i didnt know otherwise i would have included it in the video 👍
I can't wait for the LEGENDARY EDITION!
Like wise brother!! 💯🍻
Great video mate :)
Thank you Wade :)
Gamer Grade; Thanks for the intro. I wasn't that familiar with the story until now. I have been wanting to fine something I could sink my teeth into so to speak.
You are very welcome Jose, glad the video helped explain the bulk of the story for you :)
Thanks for commenting and watching!
i play me2 n me3 17 time...i love it
damn mass effect 3 seems to be the pinnacle of the series cant wait to get to it...
For sure! The best game trilogy ever made. Cant wait for the Legendary edition coming soon... 🍻
I was literally depressed after I beat the third game. I played 1 and 2 probably 15 times each. The 3rd I played one time and I was so disgusted with the ending I never played it again. I did beat the DLCs and the extended endings but it really didn’t add enough to wash the taste out of my mouth.
Yeah most fans felt the same, the passion seemed to be lost by the end 😡
However, as long they they nail it with the remake, like Capcom did with RE2, then ill be happy.
Absolutely perfect summary of one of the most deep and and complex series! Well done!
Thank you Matt much appreciate the positive feedback :) The most epic story in gaming history, one that will go down as legendary and will never be forgotten!

I've only played part 2. I always wondered what happened before and after. Now I know. Thanks!
You are welcome Tom, thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video!

having never played this series, id like to sya you did an excellent job. 30 minutes was about perfect length, and you know the subject matter well. why play games when years later you can watch recaps videos! lol thx man, subbed!
You are very welcome Koaasst, thank you for your encouraging comment 🙏
Glad the video was helpful for you, the gameplay doesn't hold up well if you play the games now and feels very dated, but its still one of the best sci-fi stories ever devised in gaming, so you are right, a video is sometimes the best way to get informed!
For a channel that made such an awesome video, to have so few subs is a travesty!
Thank you brother, much appreciate the love! :)
Thanks for watching!
This video is PERFECT for explaining to my mom exactly how STAR TREK: Picard plagiarised its entire story from my favorite videogames.
Lol awesome! Thanks for watching brother 🙏
@@GamerGrade I am no brother.
Yep I agree 😂
I sometimes chose the ending to shoot the little star bastard. This would let the reapers win
I would take the 2nd end game option, I would love to control the reapers even if my physical bodies was destroyed
They should have made a Mass Effect 4 with that as a playable option. Playing a story based on the complete perspective of the Reapers would have been epic!
Thank you for watching :)
unreal video man, big respects to the time and effort put into this video 👍
Thank you for your feedback and support Johnny! Much appreciated brother :) 🙏
Really glad you enjoyed the video, looking forward to the remaster! 🍻
You forgot to add that the wear and tear of it all was adding up on Shepard, and DID indeed start showing symptoms of Indoctrination.
Yes you are right J. Moose, Shepard did indeed become part synthetic, thanks for bringing this up!
Great video! Hope to see one of ME Andromeda
Thank you Bulanuuuu!
No doubt ME3 is my favourite game
Definitely one of our favourites too, not many games leave such a long lasting impression these days!
Great summary of the whole trilogy! Love it and learned how great the trilogy is! So good I thought it was in league with trilogies like LOTR or Star Wars.
To all fanboys, its just my opinion! Im not insisting Mass Effect is better than either trilogies.
Thank you Smurf ID! It's definitely up there with the best of them :)
Clear. Concise. To the point. Great video and a very cool story!
Thank you Eddie :) 🙏
Agreed, no doubt one of the very best stories in gaming!
You know, an option to free the collectors from reaper control would have been nice. Since Harbinger was controlling them the whole time. The condition should be saving everyone in the final mission and having really high paragon/renegade stats (saving a dangerous reaper enhanced race, but they were essentially slaves). Having them in ME3 gets you the human reapers heart and brain and there ships , but Javiks required to do it
Thanks for sharing this interesting idea :) 🍻
@@GamerGrade thanks for the response. I just seems like taking a bet on the collectors helping if the reapers do show seems like a good gamble. If nothing else, they now have to retake the outpost from an occupying force and that should divert their attention
I like it, will certainly help turn the tide of battle with the Collector's strength in numbers for sure. A huge force of grunts lol 👊
#1 came out in 07 for xbox 360, 08 for windows, and 12 for ps3

I bought the original Mass Effect Trilogy at Game Stop last year and with the crappy ending of Mass Effect 3 I had an absolute blast with the trilogy
Completely agree Dylan, still one of the best ever gaming experiences to date. Shame Andromeda didnt bring it up to modern standards.
Thanks for watching!
This narration completely dilutes the emotion associated with the franchise....
It was one of my earlier videos and my narration (and recording equipment) has improved a lot. Still learning this game of TH-cam!
Thanks for clicking and trying though brother 🙏
@@GamerGrade I am sorry for being so rude. I wish the narrative was equally thrilling as the trilogy itself.
@@GamerGrade Also I would like to suggest you to read Brad Hind's behind the series dissertation on some core and critical concepts.
I agree! Nothing beats actually experiencing the game/story for the first time without knowing what to expect. It blew me away when i first played it!
Thanks for the suggestion, where can i find this?
I had no clue what this game was. I just learned of some girl getting melted. Now I feel like I’m an expert
Lol! Glad to hear you enjoyed the video Gallium, thanks for watching and commenting 🙏
The whole thing coming down to your belief in A.I. as sentient life form. My answer : Depends, do I still get to shoot stuff ?
Of course!
If you skip ME1 you won't have Wrex or Kaidan tho😭
Great work man...!!!
Thank you Omar! 🙏
What does the green beam do at the end of the series? Ive never played this series and i didnt really understand what it does.
The Green Beam merges all organic and synthetic lifeforms together. Sounds beneficial to us humans!
Nope I played the 1st one 1st and loved the combat and feel. Then the 2nd one the change was jarring and by the 3rd I dint care anymore.
now i see the similarities to Mass Effect Andromeda :D
Yes the concept, ideas and story was just as epic as the original trilogy, exactly what we'd expect from Bioware!
How did you find playing Andromeda, did you enjoy it and complete it recently?
At first i had to get used to the controls but after a few minutes i was already hooked :D
Nice!
When they first released the game it was in a bad state, but luckily they fixed everything so its a good time to jump in 💯
Hope you enjoy bro 👊
I know it will never happen. But this needs to be an HBO series, not a trilogy or a movie.
@@GamerGrade well said. To honest, the ME trilogy is my favorite of all time, and I didn't even finish Andromeda because it was so bad.

it's frequently pronounced throughout the original trilogy 😂 It's weirdly difficult watching this video and thinking "Pro-the-AN"
I wish TH-cam would allow a quick audio swap for pronunciation in videos whenever they're missed on the final take 😭
(Pretty good lore overview btw 👌 nice and comprehensive)
We e need a game like this and with alot alot more planets to travel to ... Make the game endles slash Halo slash borderlands slash GTA
Option E: Install a mod that completely makes the vanilla ending pointless
great great great summary, holy
This video only made me hate andromeda even more and I'm currently trying to beat it but my God is it boring asf.
Yeah i agree, after the Trilogy, Andromeda fell flat :(
Maybe you guys should stick to CoD or Forknite.

Great video but it reminded me of all the unfortunate plot holes the games have. I’d still play the series every day if I could though.
It’s obvious this guy didn’t play the game. Prothean and Ilos were pronounced in the game so many times that’s theirs no reason for saying it wrong
