I have this VOLTES V GX 31, bought it directly from Japan. I also have Voltes V GX 79 Full Action....both are kept carefully and are part of my Collection!
I used to have the original big Voltes V when I was a kid, but lost it. So when I had the time to visit my cousin in Osaka I bought this Bandai version, it's mid-size but a more accurate looking scale version with all the cool extras. Still a lot of metal and heavy. It's 13,335 Yen = 122.37 US$ ( 2007 )
@CollectionDX With a post like that I'm surprised you didn't just delete the goon. You have waaaaaay higher tolerance level than I, and certainly a lot more patience than other reviewers on TH-cam. Thanks for the review!
was the original toy from the early 80's bigger than this one? i remember it being bigger and bulkier. i just got the gx-31v and it seems a bit smaller compared to the one from the 80's.
i know why theres that little door on the panzer cockpit. its to pull the cockpit out again. i have my gx-31 and i wouldve had a hard time pulling the cockpit back in panzer form without that little door. cheers!!!
okay, let's give the guy a break though. he is a toy reviewer, not a voltes aficionado. i know that to us big time voltes v fans, he is clueless in making some statements (like the lander drills & how he thinks they should shoot out. they are drills man, not missiles, hehe!) i had to ask my childhood best buddy, based in tokyo, to scout for the y2006 bandai box. the toy box set is such a sweet, awesome treat!! a must have for any genuine voltes v fan!
It's Voltes V (5) not V, just to give correction hehehehe.... The anime was a big hit here in Asia, its about the story of the Armstrong brothers (Steve, Big Bert and little John-the guys who control cruiser, panzer and frigate respectively) in search for their father, Dr. Ned Armstrong, who invented Voltes V against the alien invaders, the Boazanians... They along with Mark Gordon (Bomber) and Jamie Robinson (Lander) are the Voltes Team who operate the 5 vehicles to form Voltes V...
IS it a prerequisite to have seen a show to own the toy? If so, a lot of kids are gonna be bummed. Some people just like TOYS, and could care less about the show.
@CollectionDX what is the point in sharing your thoughts about the toy when you have no knowledge about the show. a LOT of kids are gonna be bummed coz they don't know squat what they are playing. and FYI Voltes V (Five) has been in circulation since the 70's. i think what you are reviewing is a re-issue toy. As i watch your review, it's just senseless landing gear this, missile that. really nice, see what i mean by not knowing the parts of the purpose of those parts in the show.
Having absolutely no idea what the background is on any certain toy and then writing a review about it based solely on the toy itself and having no knowledge of what the history behind it would seem well...amateurish. And what about what die-hard fans of the Voltes V (Voltes Five to be more precise) series would think while watching someone clueless about it make a review of the character's physical incarnation as a toy. How about a little respect for the show's history and its fans?
Why even bother to review a toy when you're not even familiar with the actual cartoon and never even seen it? It's kind of like reviewing a movie without ever watching it. To each their own I guess.

The missle-looking thing that pops out from within the lander are actually drills which are not supposed to fire. =)
That will keep your kid from asking for more X-Mas goodies. Dude, you're a great father.
Kool toy! Where can I get one? It brings back those good ol' days watchin' Voltes V!
Yes, by a few inches. - Josh

@kappybarra Holy god, That was a little, um, good god, that was hardly called for. I know that was posted 3 years ago but man!
@rkenshin0922
Yeah these are tiny compared to the original ones that I had when I was a kid. They don't make them like they used to.
in case no one said it, that "V" is pronounced "5".
anyway, nice review!
wheres the part 2?
UP主、親指すっっげー短か!!!!
OMFG i hate the fact that he just shooves the other machines like nothing when hes placing the lander unit.
still pretty nice though

Your mom must be proud. You do realize this is just a toy, right? Voltes is not a religion. Relax.
