Terrific review-! Watched Daimos on TV in the 70's and what really made this robot series great was actually the love story between Erika, a winged Princess from the enemies side and Richard, Daimo's pilot. What was also cool was the karate style fighting of Richard, which he applied to Daimos when battling robot enemies which resulted into awesome fight scenes-!
My Daimos arrived from Beta Toys a few hours ago. It's a challenge getting the arms folded in to close everything up for vehicle mode. Aside from this pain, stellar robot mode!
This is the realization of the Daimos mecha.....other wise we will settle with the old godaikin robot with the spread out transformation and static look.
I think I have an explanation for those joints. the pilot of Daimos is a black belt in Karate, so more often than not you'll see that in the anime the pilot uses hand and kick motions, those joints must be for the kicks, side kicks and roundhouse kicks, and you need those extra joints for those kinds of poses.
I prefer the original diecast one since its transformation is more faithful to the anime. Although I imagine an original one would cost more than this one. Of course, quality and detail wise, the SoC series is superb.
Be it a Shogun Warrior, a Starbird or just awesome, Daimos will forever be my favorite Super Robot. YOM DERU YOM DERU! DAIMOSU DAIMOSU TOSHO DAIMOSU!!!!
I always assumed it was because you wouldn't have to go thru the process of dubbing anymore if the anime was purchased from the US. I remember Voltes V being dubbed in the Philippines, but afterwards the bigger titles were US dubs. Right b4 I left Pinas anime was having a boom in video rental places. I only heard later that lots of anime titles were being shown on tv (even a voltes v revival) being dubbed in tagalog.
One thing I don't understand is why the Philippines kept getting its anime from the US instead of Japan. We had Voltron and Robotech instead of GoLion and Macross. Was it just cheaper to get the english dubs from the US?
Which one among all the Romance Trilogy robots SOC that you recommend out of the three, Combattler V (GX-50), Voltes Five (GX-31/GX-31V) or this one (GX-43).
I wonder if there is a die cast version of this,I recall in the '80s that it was the one that many wants to buy since it was quite faithful to the anime...and I want one, too.
I used to watch the animations when I was a kid. I'm an adult now, so it was long ago. It was al least from the 1970s. I never knew what it was call, but I just remembered it was some kind of Winebego. Does anybody know what the robot was called that consisted of three vehicles that could each be the body, while the others would be the arms and feet, and vise versa. And it would make a different robot each time? I used to watch that all the time too, and I can't think of it.
The transformation on the original anime cheats anyway like the trailer of optimus prime it comes and goes so to be fair with this toy .......everything is perfect.
the manufacturers of this daimos cheated a lot on the transformation. the underbody is a mess. it comes out of the chest. and the truck head wheels dont even hit the surface.

I already have, one but really i love the old daimos godaikin issue since it nearly follows the original transformation.
I think the 2-person team reviewing dramatically improves the review.
Got him from Greenhills a week ago. He's awesome.

If they would of painted it the red with the gold colors it would of been perfect.
He'll always be Dynamo to me. And he will be mine. Oh yes, he will be mine.

You weren't kidding about the origami part.
is there any stocks availab;e??? right now?? 2011???
The proportions on that one looks way more accurate & nicer unlike the GA-85 version toy from the 70's that looked like a midget
in past this anime was cool my favourite to watch but after look at this toy, that truck mode looks like a mummy but anyway great review
subbed/5stars.
i like chogokin, i bought all evangelion models.
I want one !
Thats way off from its original transformation. but its entrity the robot looks awesome!
is that peaugh?
That's a cool!
hands is the hardest part
as much as its simple to transform , even though it looks cool it can be mistaken for a super gobot
You know he's real name was Kazuya? ;p
the manufacturers of this daimos cheated a lot on the transformation. the underbody is a mess. it comes out of the chest. and the truck head wheels dont even hit the surface.
it's like a robot coffin
he is a nice toy but he drive you mad
