What's your dream swap setup?
I kid you not...An LS & AWD swapped first gen Mazda3!
I've built hawaiis first 2jzgtevvti 4x4 tacoma it has ac its called poor boys dream I know the recipe lmk if I can help lol
02 4runner with a 2uz turbo swap :)
Not a common swap, but very easy to do if you do enough research. Took me 2 weeks to swap a 2JZ into my 4Runner, all bolt on 👌
Could you help me out I want to do this in my 2001 Tacoma
What year 4Runner? Just curious. Thinking about swapping out my 4.0 2nd gen Taco when the motor pops.
@@braedenjuan8827bro. CX RACING sells an engine and transmission mounting kit for the 95-04 Tacoma’s. Believe it or not but you can fit a 2jz into the Tacoma with out cutting anything. It will end up being close to the radiator but it fits. If yours is the v6 Tacoma you can even use your original transmission as long as it’s the manual. you get the bell housing from a r154 transmission and boom your good to go.
The quality of the videos with the young age of your channel just goes to show the amount of care and detail that goes into any work the FMU puts out, can’t wait to see what lies ahead for the future. Alex got me into y’all and I’m glad he did
Working hard for our audience. appreciate you returning the favor with the feedback!
U guys are smart, realistic and talented mechanics keep the videos. Wish u guys were down in Florida integrity is everything.
Appreciate the kind words. Everyone will tell you that they have integrity, but your track record is what matters more. We aren't perfect but we work hard to try and help our customers.
To me this is the best looking Taco they have ever made. With a 2JZ? Might almost get this Honda guy to like a Toyota…lol.
Keller's humor is the best, looks like oil😂
I appreciate the attention to detail and the explination to the customer. Granted it helps when the customer understands the mechanics of the autmotive world. I hope the customer goes through with all the recommended repairs. That is a really sweet build!
Couldn't agree more! We want to see this thing in its best condition and its on it's way.
You guys are a dream shop for wn enthusiast. Transparency and being dynamic with ur customers really bodes well for me.
It also makes it better that we love what we do! Thanks for the kind words!
Wish these guys were local to me!
Another excellent video. The wrap up contemplation at the end was great. I was just talking to my son about why we aren't going to LS swap our old Pathfinder and discissed many of the reaosn you mentioned. I am sending him the video so he can see an expert explain this as you did it so well. I look forward to seeing more of the Taco! Keep the great videos coming.
Awesome video! I love how its all put together and I love the philosophy at the end. It's like taking a nice hot yoga class and you leave feeling great and smart at the same time. Can't wait to see more!
Digging this perspective. The ride along with the audible problem solving was pretty cool
You can tell with every video that you put out it gets better every time really enjoyed this video
I love seeing the crazy stuff that comes through your shop!👍👍
More to come!
I love your content! It's probably a good thing I don't live up there any more (grew up in Western Springs), I'd want to be hanging out there all the time just to see and learn new stuff. Really enjoy your vids!!
You ever roll through, give us a heads up and we will show you around!
Another great video! Who doesn't love a nice 2JZ build. Keep it up OJ!
Thanks! Trying to deliver, but I appreciate the feedback!
Outstanding Content! Keep 'em coming, O.J.!
Thanks! Will do!
This so cool! ready for my swap! thanks
So cool that you was able to helped Alex with his dirty injectors
The 2jz swap is the new Ls swap. How bittersweet
I feel like people were swapping 2jz's before the LS got popular, but that could be because I was more from a import and European background, so it was more common.
Love this car build , it have a lot of potential, and mostly i like the professional advice you give to your customers based on there need or enthusiasm and at the same time keeping it reasonable and not pricy . Thx for the advice you gave at the end , makes me rethink my build maybe i “Overdone “ it :)))
if you think about it, this build while not complete, was sold by the builder, so something made him fall out of love with it... That's why I tell people to be careful and take your time, we see too many builds that were someone's dream at some point, become someone else's nightmare.
It ain’t that I fell out of love with it. I built that from the ground up. I turned a lot of bolts on that thing. Lots of time with my hands. The only thing I have done elsewhere was the motor built and the tuning. Besides the few little minor problems. That thing is solid. I have been off road it really sketchy trails and I have been 135 mph in it. It was boosting 19 psi when it left here.
F&F parody was 🐐
LSC brought me here. So glad.
You slid that petition in to "like and subscribe" nice and easy! Smoother than a can oil!
24th!
Yes, cars are indeed a reflection of their owners!
Speed and Power
Excellent video.
Nice engine swap.
This project goes to show how much work goes into a custom project like this.
..
There's so much minor custom work like brackets, cable, pipe routing, clutch, brakes that sometime get overlooked or bodged.
..
Yeah that clutch, noisy fuel regulator & oil leaks would be a major annoyance for a relative daily.
..
From FMUs perspective.
I can see how difficult it is to price a job like this as ya don't know what hurdels you'll meet along the way...
I do wonder, if that turbo is spoiling so late perhaps a smaller turbo might better suit thids installation...?
..
Im also wondering if the clutch lever arm is the wrong ratio hemce the extra travel..
Great work guys...
We're finding out, but all of your questions are appropriate for someone to consider in this situation. thanks for the feedback! We'll see what the customer decides shortly!
This would decimate all, after you put 20gs into it, and overnight part from Japan. 😂
we'll put it on my tab at Harry's
Great video. Enjoy watching so much, I don’t fast forward any of it. Love your explanation about engine swaps.
I have a vehicle I’d love to bring by your shop and ask some tech questions if possible.
Drop us an email too, but if you want to stop by always call first as were a working business and something is usually getting work!
A buddy of mine at work had a Tacoma that fell into the frame warranty. It had 275,000 miles on it, was a work truck from day one, pretty beat but taken care of at the same time. The frame was close to cracking in half and they gave him cash. Like. It was junk, he was trying to figure out how to deal with selling or trading in….Got a letter in the mail with the warranty explanation and an offer..worked out great for him😂😂
funny the powertrain lasted longer than the frame...Toyota, go figure!
Looking forward to this build
Great Video. I personally don't care what people think of my car. My car is for my enjoyment. Not trying to create an image.
Right on!
I need this in my gen 3 tacoma.
Algorithm comment. Now to watch the video!
Let’s goooooooo!!! FMU video followed by Legit Street Cars! #SaturdayMorningCars
You already know!
Always Great Media. ❤
Engine swaps are cool when they stay within brand. Ls in a GM, 2j in a Toyota, coyote in a ford etc etc etc. I’ll get roasted for this opinion. Unfortunately you can’t say worse than my wife does.
We tend to agree. Not really a Toyota with out its heart...
Great Video ! nice breakdown and explanation
Glad you liked it!
What a great combo
This car was one eBay, then Bring a Trailer
This customer was the buyer from the bring a trailer auction
Dream swap? Not really a swap, but a Cobra kit with a Voodoo in it.
Another great video, OJ
I appreciate that
Hey, pop the hood. 😂
When you were out on the road with that 2JZ swap, it still sounded like a 4 cylinder. Was it worth the efford? Not sure yet. But I'd never sacrifice an AC. That moist that builds up on the inside of the cab's windows I have a terrible rememberance on. Passengers have to wipe them the entire ride or the driver gets nuts.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing!
I have a 1996 Single Cab Tacoma that I'm in the middle of a 2JZ-GE single turbo w/ R155 swap. What radiator and fans did the guy use? was the firewall tubbed to make room for the cooling system?
fans appear to be universal through the core mount radiator fans, and no mods to the firewall as far as we could tell. I think that need is going to be dictated by your engine and trans mounting positioning. Do you have that sorted yet?
No fire wall mods necessary if you're using the CX racing engine mounts. You can still use the stock radiator that comes in the truck, although you may have to run a pusher type fan setup as there isn't enough room between the engine and the stock radiator location. If you can find fans thin enough, you can make a puller setup work.
how about a 06 Commander with a swapped 3800 3.8L Buick engine
I saw this for sale in Tacoma World
Love the Color
2jz Engine No Shit😂❤ 🇺🇸🇯🇵
Another great video
Where the hell did you get the dash for this thing? 😭 I need a more modern look to mine.
Have you seen a 97 toyota 4runner with a mo606 done?
We've messed with that diesel Benz engine a fair bit, but no odd swaps with it have really rolled through. Good torque and reliability to better suit a Toyota, well aside for that little frame rust mishap...
It'd drive me nuts driving a truck with no real torque below. Does he need to get custom cams and use a smaller turbo here?
it should have more torque than the 4 cylinder that these had optioned. But this thing is going to need some revs to get this to roll up some stuff... good thing its got 4low!
Great video
Thanks for the visit
I dunno, should the hood be popped?
Me personally, i want to put the 3.5 ecoboost out of a Navigator into a 2011 Saab 9-5 😂
The Saab 9-5 is front wheel drive. The Navigator is rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. Doable if you're into lots of welding and custom fab work, including a drive train tunnel and rear suspension. Good luck!
@@houseofno small correction, in that the 2011 9-5 also had an AWD option (XWD was the branded name of it) but yeah it'd be psychotically difficult either way
Why there is no 4wd supra?
Comment for the algo
Shorts brought me here
To be honest that engine swap was no improvemnt on the pickup to me. Sure from the factory there was a 4 cyl. turbo diesel option. A lot of labor only worsened what was.
Not in the United States we haven’t ever been able to have a Toyota diesel.
When will this truck get done?
That's up to the customer
Have you got started on it yet? I’m just curious. I’m the teenager that built that thing.
@2jzTacoofficial-wb6rq lots of progress but not enough to fill a video yet. It’s coming as we finish up!
I want to see this thing get used again. I enjoyed it while I had it. You should look into wiring the launch control in. It will plow some really good flames. I have the boost at 19psi.
he should of had a pre purchase inspection done before he bought this... he could of found a better built one for a little more money.... looks like a hack job do w to the engine, to just make it fint in the truck
This otherwise remarkable build is distracted by the annoying squeaking heard on the test drive. Kind of annoying that they spend this kind of money on a bespoke swap like this then neglect basic maintenance items like body mounts and worn springs causing that squeaking noise. Kind of makes you wonder what else they skipped doing besides the AC.
