Kanami has some kind of magical power to seamlessly weave together musical material, and Honkai is exhibit A. She is exceptional at building tension throughout a song: that feeling of an unresolved chorus is a perfect example. It's only in the _last_ chorus that you get the full ending and it's a big one that resolves all the tonal tension that's been stored up.
Again, Band-Maid surprises us with continued amazing song writing from Kanami! The one thing that is predictable from Band-Maid is continued excellence!
Honkai...What a great rock riff!! They're ALL insane on Unseen World IMHO.....They intentionally pushed themselves on this album. Honkai is a true banger from start to finish. You'll over-stress your system to pick a favorite Band-Maid song... your attempts will be futile.
The songs on this album were born of the frustration that Kanami was experiencing during Covid. The odd one is Manners of course. But she deliberately composed music that she and the rest of the band had to practice more in order to play. In a way, because of this, it showed us what would have been an Unseen World- if you get what I mean. Great reaction as usual.
A big fat riff like the one on Honkai is something that I've missed on their more recent songs. I hope they'll bring them back on future releases. Great song overall.
Honkai is one of my favorites, a bit of a meld between older band-maid and new. Also Miku's subtle backing vocals are a tad under appreciated on this song.
I LOVE Honkai - incredible drumming - and bass work - chaotic yet even more catchy :) One of the best BM songs that without an MV or official live, reactors will often never react to.
I slept on this song but it's become one of my new favorites. The main riff we heard a lot as they used it during their short lived radio show. The riff and chorus are a bit simpler but very pleasing to the ears. The combined solo with Kanami leading to Misa just flows so well, and then the last chorus with the switch up takes the song to another level, then comes back down. Such a solid well written song.
