Thanks so much for reacting to this man I'm so glad you liked it! The beginning was intentional I wanted to start this song off at 100% speed lol I defo should have taken more time on that cut its weird when I mage it I couldn't hear it now ppl have pointed it out I cant unhear it lol I did put a drum layer over that part to try and kick it in but i think it just had the opposite effect and made it more glaring. I'm glad you liked the layering aswell I'm very proud of that although i was slightly worried i was added to much and it would become a jumbled up mess!

Oreo is a great singer with many styles. When see sings with open heart the emotional tone of her voice reminds me of Amy Winehouse. I would like to see her step up to that level of greatness. However I feel slightly that she does not use her full potential, or don't find the right context for it, or something (?). I hope that we will see some great solo performance by Oreo during the sabbatical year.

The title is a wordplay on カレーライス (Kareeraisu -> Curry with Rice) and アイス (aisu -> ice which is short for アイスクリーム -> icecream). カレーライス is a very polular dish in Japan. I would be very surprised if they would eat curry with icecream though, but who knows. The vocals are overpolished for me, it's very difficult to hear who it is in the beginning because they polished away a lot of her timbre. The weird thing is that it sounds like they put on more processing in the begin of the track than later on, either that or I get more used to it. I did recognize Oreo in the later parts of the track. It's actually by far my biggest gripe on this album, they vocals sound more processed/cleaned up than on the previous couple of albums. Btw, Koga says she is "tone deaf" (there is no way, but whatever), so she typically doesn't really sing except for some shouts here and there.

Sounds exactly like Oreo, when she's not being weird, to me. It's a song that would fit perfectly on W, as is Halfway to the Beyond. But I don't know, I just emotionally connect with Lonely Mart and Voice in a way that I don't with these two. Still, I agree they are songs that I could put on in the background at almost any time.

I did expect something a little more unusual for "Curry Ice Cream"! I'm glad Oreo got a lead song again although I don't think it will become one of my favourites - I thought you might find this a little more like the older ones, in terms of 1 vocalist and not so many change ups, but I do agree there's plenty to listen for within the music if you want to.

It's Hana on the double-kick drums for this one, and Yuri on the electronic kit you could hear in the right ear - Hana was obviously the original drummer on this and I guess more suited for the double-kick style - or they just thought it would be fun. You may like to check out the Doll$boxx version of this from 2018 which I included on the playlist (same show as all the live ones you saw when you did the Doll$boxx album) - this studio version is very similar to a live one GS did in Nov 23 so was not so much of a surprise for us with the double drums and Yuri vocals

This one was also covered by Doll$boxx (live) which makes sense because I am pretty sure Fuki used to perform this with Gacharic Spin when she was helping them out and it does have some metal tendencies for sure in the drumming. It is a 2012 track from Gacharc Spins ヌーディリズム (Nudirythm) EP. The song ヌーディリズム itself was covered by Doll$boxx on their 2012 album. I am pretty sure the cutesy rappy voice is yuri.

By far my favourite of the older songs on the album. The "cutesy" part is Yuri, and I don't actually mind it (surprisingly), probably because it's just one little bit in the bridge and it's not far off her natural voice.

Jazz and Blues are similar only only to someone who is not a Jazz or Blues Fan ;) lol the Blues are very structured Jazz is the opposite of structured it is improvisation of themes and chaos my Blues heart almost stopped when i heard you say this lol

If there is a general style on the album I think of it as electrofunk, hard breakbeat rhythms with lots of synthwork and vocal distortion (Restaurant F, Bocchi Fest, Ranshin Glow, High Grayinbow, No. 1!!, even Speed Game in this version). They played this style prominently on the Kakuhen album. Punk-prog-jazz of Ace or or electrofunk of Feast? No it's like being asked to choose between your mother and your father. I like all their styles equally, from Tokenai Candy to Mindset, from Naked Liar to Rabbithole, from Alive to I wish I.

You´ve probably heard it from the name of the show "Bocchi the Rock", though I don´t know if the lyrics of this song have a direct connection to it as I don´t speak japanese. The shows main characters first name is "Hitori", which means "alone, one person". "Bocchi" is her nickname, which, funnily, itself means "loner". "Hitoribocchi" is something like "loneliness". She´s a person with huge social anxiety who practices guitar on her own for years in her closet, until she finds a band to play with and a lot of funny and emotional situations follow. It´s one of my favorite Anime and I recommend everyone to watch it, because it also gives a great insight into the japanese underground music scene and the soundtrack is absolutely awesome. Really worth it!

Haha I was looking forward to this one - watching your face and eyes react to all the different sounds and changes 🤣🤣 Definitely jazzy rather than bluesy I would say, but mixed obviously with the dance beat and electronica. No live version of this one as yet so quite intrigued to see how it would go - a lot of backing tracks for the edits I guess. But it was reported that Angie also made her live guitar debut on this one 😱😱 when they did an album playthrough last week (unfortunately no footage available so far)

I just looked it up. A bocchi is someone who is always alone, which I found out after getting past all the references to Bocchi the Rock (which I've never watched but anyone who's into the Japanese music scene is likely to have heard of - presumably the lead character is a bocchi).

“Parallel Loop” is definitely one of my favorite from “Feast”. Hana’s voice has been unleashed for this particular song. I would like to see the BTS of the vocals recording 😄🎙️😱

Assigning who is the main vocalist is pretty tricky for Feast! For W I would say that Angie is solo or main lead on 4, Hana on 2 and an even split on 4. That's not actually much different to the self-titled album - one thing though it that Angie has been lead for pretty much all the singles on the last 3 albums

It took me a while to appreciate Parallell Loop, now I find it one of their most mesmerizing songs. Crazy genius of songwriting. There are very good live versions of No 1. (GS Live Love Life) and Parallell Loop from the 13th online anniversary 2022, and Where you belong from Otoshidama online live 2023. I strongly recommend them. (I'm still waiting for New Leaf, Infinity and Rust from the 13th to be included on an album.)

This was my favourite of the 13th anniversary songs that wasn't included on W, so I was very happy it made it onto Feast - although I think this is the one of the three that probably would've fit best onto W. In the live Angie sang the verses more aggressively so whilst I like the studio version I'm still getting used to it :) I would agree that to some extent this is like a more refined Music Battler - definitely from the more prominent syth and to some extent just the overall happier and fun feel, whereas I remember you remarking on the self-titled and then W about them being a little more serious. So for me its not about which is best or which I prefer, but more which mood I'm in, or which particular songs I feel like listening to.

I am pretty sure this is an other one of their tracks that they performed live a couple of years ago right before their split with Victor during one of their anniversary live performances (I think their 13th anniversary). They baiscally only played new tracks back then, which is pretty crazy to me that they had all of those in the bag (possibly because of covid). Also they have a bunch of them that they still haven't recorded yet to this date, although they are getting there.

Fun tune! You know what that robot voice immediately reminds me of (don't know if I'm the only one 😄)? The old a cartoon spiderman animated series had an opening theme song which used basically the same vocal effect, just in the ranshin glow they added some distortion on it as well. Also they have used this effect before, on Kakuhen album.

It's mostly Hana and Angie - Oreo just on the harmonies I think + the robot voice of course :) On the Ace tour recording the robot voice track is not there but it was on the anniversary stream, so I'm guessing that was finalised as part of the album recording. My only critique of the studio version for this one is in the solo section it feels a bit lacking - I think they wrote this one again with live performance in mind, especially as it was played live before it was recorded - you'll see why I think that if you check out the live. But overall this is one of my favourites - especially the unexpected groovy half time part with the piano and then the final ascending key changes

This one felt like it flowed more 👍 Not sure if that's the playing or the layers.

I love your comment that "Some of the German is weird". You should hear your own accent as it sounds to an American. They're a great group, though, and it was a good reaction.

The pink 'monster' in the Restaurant F video is former Gacha Jnr. Dancer Hazuki. The Gacha Jnr. Dancers were a rotating group of 14 young idols (gradually pared down to three main girls, Misaki (aka. Ruka), Anna and Hazuki) used in 2017-18 to backup Mai, after Nenne left due to concerns over aggravating hearing damage (GS stage volumes used to be really loud). She's just over a year older than Angie and now performs as one of the regular backing dancers for Aina the End. With Number 1 I'm glad that they spent more time working on the arrangement & lyrics before recording it, as the version they played in 2022 I wasn't that keen on outside of the audience sing along/participation element. The intro still feels a little cheesy now but I'm fine as soon the guitar is brought in.

F stands for F Chopper Koga. I've mostly got past my dislike of the kawaii-rap verses and it's now one of my preferred songs on the album (although that wouldn't be the case if it were on Ace, for example). It's a new song btw. No 1 is a song that I wouldn't like at all if it were by almost any other band, but Gacharic Spin do elevate it as you say.

Cool that you enjoyed Redtaurant F more the second time around (even if you did like it already). It’s definitely a catchy one! Number 1 is a song originally written for live play under the title GS live love life around 2022. It wasn’t included on W but was here (with updated lyrics) and I think it’s probably a better fit to be honest. It’s an Oreo written song and that s her with the high belt at the end of course 😁🤩 P.s. I like your description of the song - I think I originally commented on it that it was pop-prog which doesn’t seem like it should be a thing but seems to apply to some of GS 🤣

They were great in concert. They opened with this song. Although taken only from a phone, I did post it as the audio wasn't terrible.

“Juicy Beats” is the first song of their first EP (Virgin-A). I really like the original with Armmy as the lead vocalist. It has a very Eurodance vibe with vocoder over vocals. It’s really fun. The only thing that I really like on this 2024 arrangement is the breakdown with the piano solo. But it feels less fun a slowed down compared to the original one. To be honest, I reorganized the track order and put all the older songs right at the end of the album 🤗

I like this its groovy man

This is one of their older tracks that I have never been a huge fan of personally, but I am not a huge fan of vocoder so that might be why. But they always made it fun to watch live like with most of their songs. I do get why they decided to rerecord/rearrange this one since it's such an early track (first EP) and it's their 15th anniversary. Overall I like the proggy parts in this track, but the main chorus is still not really my thing. But it was without question created to dance around with the audience and it works pretty well for that.

As others have said, this was originally from their first mini album/EP Virgin-A released in May 2011 whilst they were on an indie label, back when they were a quartet with Armmy on lead vocals and before Oreo joined (she started playing support keys for them at the end of that year). After Armmy left both Hana & Oreo have at different times taken the lead vocal role on this, until Angie joined in 2019. Since then Angie has taken the lead vocals with Hana providing primary backing, allowing Oreo to concentrate on the synths (in the dancer era they'd rely almost entirely on backing tracks for this song & often have Oreo dancing out front). There's been multiple arrangements over those 13yrs including extended intro versions & some more guitar-heavy live versions in the GS 5.0 era, but one thing different about this studio recording is how much they've cut down on the vocoder/autotune usage. In all other versions it's been on the majority of all vocal parts throughout the song to properly lean into the dance vibes; so it's nice to hear Angie's voice clearer and reduced the effect down to some extra flavour/colour in places for contrast (mainly in the breakdown before the piano solo).

Can’t disagree - it’s definitely much simpler and more fitting to their original sound. The big change from the studio and prior lives here is the lack of the vocoder effect which was used for all the vocals before. For that reason I enjoy this version even though I came to like those effects with some of their earlier songs (like this one) plus as you say the piano solo is great. That’s another addition compared to the original and is something Oreo added into live performances, but the mix often isn’t too great to hear it that clearly. This song is also notable for being the first one where live Angie basically had lead for the whole song - you can see that live performance from their 10th anniversary. As it’s a simpler song it’s one where they tend to add more into the stage show also so it’s definitely still worth checking out live.

This song is from 2011 and with this song, this is where GS started using vocoder and other vocal effects in their songs. While this version has only little bit of vocoder, in the original version vocoder is used entire way through the song. Also in comparison to the old version, new version has more proggy bits. I think maybe it would be worth it to go back to the older versions and compare it to the newer ones.

I like how bouncy it is and I think that's the point. I think this is on here for the fans who go way back.

Juicy Beats is one of their first songs appearing on their first EP Virgin-A. There are many versions of the song but my favorite is still the original MV with Armmy. There was something very juicy about the pure techno style with a heavy guitar riff and Chopper solo. These hard driving elements are lacking here for some reason. The live version from the 7th anniversary is a visual feast.
